MCU
What is the MCU?
A brief over guide
MCU is an American media franchise and shared fictional universe that is centered on a series of superhero films, independently produced by Marvel Studios and based on characters that appear in Marvel Comics. The franchise has expanded to include comic books, short films, and television series. The shared universe, much like the original Marvel Universe in comic books, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters. Clark Gregg has appeared the most in the franchise, portraying Phil Coulson, a character original to the MCU.
Phase 1
Phase 1 started with 2008’s Iron Man since Disney’s $4 Billion acquisition of Marvel in 2009 let them adapt even more of their comics into billion dollar movies. Phase 1 sets up the Avengers initiative and has solos for Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America.
The Captain America Film shows a young Steve Rogers before he is experimented on and his battles against Hydra and the Red Skull. I have yet to see the other movies
Phase 2
Phase 2 is going even further into the Avengers and makes a Thor sequel as well as introducing Captain America into the modern world in his 2nd solo as well as closing off the Iron Man series. Phase 2 also introduces Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man to the MCU. Ant Man is about a thief who is chosen to wear a suit that makes him shrink. And the Avengers is about when Tony Stark accidentally creates a robot named Ultron.
In 2008, the film Iron Man was released. The film follows Tony Stark, a wealthy businessman and engineer who transforms himself from a military arms supplier into a super hero, Iron Man, by building himself a mechanical suit. Throughout the film, Tony Stark makes several ethical decisions that impact the lives of many.
The introduction of Marvel 's first superhero team, The Fantastic Four, established the company 's reputation. The majority of Marvel Comics superhero stories were written by Stan Lee. Lee and Steve Ditko generated the most successful new series in The Amazing Spider-Man. Marvel 's comics had a reputation for focusing on characterization to a greater extent than most superhero comics before them. Take for example, Iron Man.
Ironman and Spiderman both transformed from being humans to heroes. Both men have different lifestyles, but hide behind a mask.
Iron Man spins up the propeller blades of an enormous flying aircraft carrier by pushing them around at high speed.
Did you know that there are well over 1,000 Marvel characters? Marvel started off as Timely Comics, then Atlas Comics, and finally Marvel Comics. Disney owns part of Marvel Entertainment, which owns Marvel Comics. Marvel Comics make comic books, which is a magazine that shows things happening through pictures with text bubbles. Marvel is associated with Stan Lee, superheroes, and villains. Now on to the history of Marvel.
B. Relevance: Have any of you seen a Spider-Man movie? What about Thor or Iron Man? Very few of us in this room can say we have not seen an action packed Marvel movie at least once. Since its humble beginnings in 1939, Marvel has revolutionized not only the comic book world, but also set the bar incredibly high for all potential superhero movies. Marvel is completely relevant to the yearly cinema culture we find ourselves in the midst of, and continues to grow in popularity.
The film follows the aftermath from ‘Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Captain America: The winter solider. ‘Age of Ultron’ opens with the heroes all together trying to capture hydra informants that have attained technology from beyond this world. This calls for
Still, the Avengers has noticeably been without one of its key ingredients. Of course, that's a reference to Ant-Man - a character that helped establish the Avengers from the ground level, at least in the pages of the source material.
Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Iron Man ((Robert Downey Jr.) a narcissistic “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist”), Captain America ((Chris Evans) a serum-injected super-soldier from 1943) The Hulk ((Mark Ruffalo) a gamma radiation exposed scientist that can transform into a “giant green rage monster”), The Black Widow ((Scarlett Johansson), a Russian spy and assassin), Hawkeye ((Jeremy Renner) an extraordinarily skilled archer), and Thor ((Chris Hemsworth), a hammer-wielding Norse god), join forces to stop Loki.
The Avengers: Infinity War is the third movie of the Avengers series, and it is also the nineteenth movie made by Marvel Studios. Personally, I am a huge Marvel fan, and I have been following Marvel movies since 2010. The Marvel Studios has a massive plan for connecting their multiple produced hero movies into a mega movie creation as well as each movie had their own epitasis. Even if one has never watched the movie series before, he or she will not get confused about the plot as there are numerous clues to connect each movie. Matt’s review is detailed and reasonable. He points out many of the Easter eggs, which are very interesting. Like in the movie Iron Man, Iron Man himself has an old version of the Nokia phone for correlation with Captain
Two of the major superhero universes are the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC Comics. Both have a variety of superheroes and supervillains. Over the course of time, Marvel female superheroes have become a bigger part of big movie franchises such as The Avengers. The MCU integrated Black Widow portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, into the group of The Avengers. She was the only female character until future films were released such as The Avengers Age of Ultron in which Scarlet Witch portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen becomes a part of the teams of The Avengers. However, even though Marvel did make Black Widow part of the Avengers, she was perceived as a sex symbol. In The Avengers release movie poster Black Widow is shown
(d) To what extent is Marvel’s success due to only one character, Spider-Man? How can Marvel develop its lesser-known characters?
The value-net for Marvel Studios is very large and diversified. We will focus this discussion in two key market segments. These are 1) the superhero film genre and includes competing properties from DC Comics characters produced by Warner Brothers as well as other Marvel character films produced by 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures who have licensed the rights to the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Spider-Man 2) the new market of toy and video game convergence pioneered by the Skylanders in which Disney’s Infinity has recently launched the ability to play as Marvel characters.
