The age old question of whether the book is better than the movie. There is much more to it than that when you consider how the effect of their means of production, textual forms, technologies, affect the messages being portrayed. Marshall McLuhan famously said, “The medium is the message.” I don’t believe that the media of production is indistinguishable to the message because the content still exists as a separate entity to that of its form, however I agree to some extent with McLuhan’s proposed idea that the medium is of equal importance to the message being communicated. The medium, or the way the audience receives a message, largely influences the way the message is perceived, whether it is through a poem, a documentary, a pamphlet, or even an oil painting. But how do the composers choose the form that their work will take? There are many factors to be taken into consideration by composers when choosing a medium of …show more content…
The poster urged the audience to “Vote LBJ, the Liberal way” in large bold letters, to “Defeat Goldwater and his right-wing extremists,” which was written at the bottom. On the middle of the poster were pictured the members of the Democratic Party and a guide to voting for them. The visual and print components work in conjunction with each other to persuade the reader to vote for LBJ, and the information is structured in such a way that it benefits from the nature of the medium. Although there is no defined linear structure to the poster like in a print text, the structure of this poster relates the information together clearly, with a pointing hand and similar colour used to direct attention. The readers are given the freedom to process the information presented by their own, but the message is still clear however the information is processed, as it is bolded and large at the top in

A long time has passed since the idea that “The book is better than the movie” was accepted without question. Most of the time, if the movies follow an original script and there is no book version to
The ‘’ Outsiders ‘’ movie , and book are nerve racking, and suspicious. Realizing after the movie. That the movie ,and book have their differences.
The Outsiders was about a gang called “Greasers”. The story was about three brothers and their friends describing their life experiences, as well as how life and people can change in the roles they share. In this essay I am going to talk about how the book was different from the movie in explaining how the details in the book explaining gave the reader a better idea for what was happening, as well as the close ups of the camera movements portraying events.
Their are many similarities and differences between the novel and the movie of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Messages can be conveyed to an audience in a number of different ways, whether it is a poem, a written story, or a movie. These different methods have the ability to convey similar messages but one method in particular will tend to be more successful than the others. A common example of this is the argument concerning the comparison of a book and a movie, which is better? Popular books that have been recently made into movies are Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games and fans tend to have a strong opinion of which version they prefer. Specific people have their own reasons for choosing which they favor, but the trend seems to be that books are preferred to the respective movie due to the incorporation of detail and narration within
What would you choose? Would you stay or go? Well, that's what Mia is facing. Mia is a 17 year old cello player who had an audition to Juilliard, a rock star boyfriend, a future ahead of her. That was until she was in a car accident. Now she has lost her mom, dad, and brother. She doesn't know whether to stay or go at this point. The main character's in the book is Mia, Adam(Mia's boyfriend), Kim(Mia's best friend), Mia’s mom, dad, brother Teddy, and her gramps. Although there are major differences between the book and the movie, each equally enjoyable. For various reasons I like the book and the movie equally because it shows the relationships with the characters differently.
In every single book you read or in every movie you watch there is always another movie or another book you can compare it to. No matter what text from it is there is always something in the world you can compare things to. You can even compare people which most people do but now I am rambling on. I will be comparing six forms of text there will be two movies two poems and two books . Using these six forms of text I will be identifying the plot and the author's intent or why he made it the way he did. I believe that the author's intent deals with the plot of 4 of the text that I am using the other two didn't really have a plot to them.
On April 24, 1967, a remarkable book was published by eighteen year old S. E. Hinton. After gaining its popularity in home and at schools, Francis Coppola decided to make a movie based on the book in 1983. Since then, both have become exceedingly popular selling 13 million copies of the book and grossing over 25 million dollars from the movie. However, even though the movie and the book are extremely similar, the book is far more superior when compared to the movie.
In this chapter Heinrichs discusses how a great rhetorician ought to decide the right medium, no longer just the proper time, to supply a positive message. (And certainly, most of the people do intuitively understand which media prefer which messages—as an instance, the majority understand that it’s a horrific concept to break up with someone over textual content). Heinrichs’ approach for evaluating exclusive styles of verbal exchange emphasizes the permanence, emotional characteristics, and immediacy of a medium. Some media allow the target audience to look the persuader’s appearance; others don’t. Some media transmit messages that remaining for all time; others don’t. With these styles of issues come critical choices about what content would play high-quality through every medium. As a result of their diverse bodily and temporal constraints, specific forms of communique favor one of kind varieties of messages. A message this is only heard once, for only a few seconds, might be much less emblems-centric than a message that stays for all time, and which requires a variety of time to study.
For McLuhan “the medium [the bucket, the icy water] is the message [and]…All media works us over completely” (pg. 327).I agree in saying that the medium is important. However, “since people don’t always see things the same way” (pg. 329) the medium largely depend on your audience. A bucket of icy water might reach
The difference in the movie and the book is that the movie started with a scene with the dad in it. The reason why the movie started a scene like that is because it needs to give the details, if they didn't do that the people watching the movie wouldn't know what is going on. Meg thought she was stupid and ugly in the movie and the book, Charles Wallace was a blond in the book and he also could not read. Charles didn't go to school in the book and he was 5 years old, but in the movie he was six and he could read, he also went to school.
There are many differences between the book and the movie. One of them is Montag is black in the movie and he is white in the book. Beatty died in the book and he didn’t die in the movie. He wanted to die in both the movie and in the book. He was a well educated man and you can tell he wasn’t happy in both platforms.
The novel the “ The fault in our stars” is based on some teenagers that are battling against cancer. The author of this novel is named John Green and his book was not only based on these teenagers that had cancer but also about their love story. The main character of this novel is named Hazel Grace Lancaster which is a 16-year-old girl and is battling stage 4 of Thyroid cancer. One of the other main character was named Augustus Waters and he had a type of cancer that made him lose his leg. The novel gave a lot of detail based on everything they went through and it explained many things. On the other hand the movie also showed many things that did happen or that the writer wrote in the novel and only a few things were a little different. There
“The medium is the message,” uttered by the late media scholar and theorist Marshall McLuhan, and they have been revered and dissected ever since they were spoken. There has been several different interpretations on the premise of McLuhan’s words, and the meaning behind them. The best way to start unraveling his theory, is to get a general understanding of the terms used in his famous quote. In McLuhan’s own words, a medium is simply “an extension of ourselves.” Simply put the medium personifies or enhances what we as humans cannot do on our own. In a mass media perspective this means the use of technology including radio, television, and the Internet to project our thoughts, feelings, and senses (Frederman) . Finally, it is important to
