In the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas filmed on 2008, produced and directed by Mark Herman and David Heyman. An 8-year-old boy named Bruno is clueless throughout the movie that Shmuel, a friend that he makes, is in a concentration camp. He believes that the clothes that Shmuel is wearing are pajamas when he is really wearing clothes that the Jews would wear in a concentration camp to tell them apart from other people. He makes friends with Shmuel by accident because he was wandering behind his house playing like any 8-year-old would be. He keeps asking him if he could go play outside with him and he says that he can't. Bruno of course goes and sees Shmuel behind his parents back. As seen in the film, he is an explorer and loves to play with other kids. When seen that the Jewish man did labor at home, Bruno was curious of the clothes the man is wearing. Bruno then asked his mom why the man had a pajama on. To keep Bruno out of that thought, she changes the talk and sets him off. Additionally, Bruno doesn't have much to do, and kids like him love to see things around them. On his perspective, he just wanted to find someone or something to play with, and that led him straight to Shmuel. Bruno just had the innocence and spirit to explore just any other kid, and because of the acts the Nazis did on his father's command, Bruno ended up dying because of his parent's negligence. Of course, his dad didn’t want that to happen, but Bruno was curious to see what Shmuel's life was like, so he got a buzz cut and put on some pajamas and crossed the fence. Not knowing, the father wanted him to stay away from Shmuel but in reality, he pushed their prohibited friendship. Bruno is incinerated in the gas chambers like the other innocent Jews. This portrays the fact that Hitler and his crew killed millions of
In the beginning, Bruno was a young boy who came from a Nazi household. Even though he didn’t quite understand everything at the time, he had dreamed of becoming a soldier just like his father. Shmuel was a young boy as well, who happened to be Jewish. Although the two came from rather different backgrounds, they both had a few things in common: They were born on the same day, they were very lonely, and they were forced to leave behind everything they had ever known. As they had gotten to know each other, they learned that they weren’t so different after all. Bruno had started to realize that he had more in common with Shmuel than he ever did with his old friends back in Berlin. Eventually, the fence between them had started to disappear as the two came together, despite any differences they ever

About a year later Bruno’s mom decided that moving there was not the best decision and she wanted to move back to their old house in Berlin. Bruno was devastated by that idea and the thought of leaving his new friend. That is when he finds out that Shmuel’s father had gone missing and he needs to find him. Just then he tells Bruno about it. Bruno then agrees that he will sneak into the camp to help him find Shmuel’s father.
This book was written about a character named Bruno and talks about the horrifying nature of World War 2, specifically in Germany. It’s a story that was written to not only teach us about how important peace is but to teach us about our past, where we’ve come from and it shows how we’ve evolved. The main theme that runs throughout this piece is that of prejudice and while most of us, who’ve read the book, were not around during this time period, we realize that we don’t fully understand what it was like. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t need to know about what happened. We, as a society, need to know that these things happened, that they were terrible things and that they must never happen
At the end of the book, Bruno snuck into the concentration camp to play with Shmuel but they got caught up in a march. This march led them into the gas chambers and then Bruno sensed something bad about to happen. Once he heard the doors click shut, Bruno said, “‘You’re my best friend, Shmuel,’ he said. ‘My best friend for life’”(Boyne 213) This quote shows how strong Bruno and Shmuel’s friendship is. Even though Shmuel was Jewish and Bruno was German and they were not supposed to like each other, their friendship kept them together. The society was supposed to separate them but they stayed together all the way until the
he finally has someone to talk to for once rather him sitting all alone contemplating everything he has in his mind and bugging his father, he finally has someone to express his emotions to. This decision changed Bruno as he would after wards continue a conversation with the boy and they would both share each other’s stories. If it wasn’t enough Bruno was now bringing food to the boy that is “Shmuel” without anyone’s permission. But this wouldn’t be the last change Bruno goes through as now Bruno will cross all lines and take the most drastic measure in the
Bruno was very oblivious to the things that were taking place around him. Although he was oblivious to the big picture he still had a feeling that he should not communicate with Shmuel, which is why he denied knowing him. Yet he was brave enough to sneak out of the house to visit Shmuel at what he believed was a “Farm.” In reality, this
The next day where its raining and extremely muddy Bruno went to meetup with Shmuel at the fence to go on the search for Shmuel’s father . Finally Bruno was on the opposite side of the fence , as he was sneaking around trying to blend in with other people he never saw nothing like that seeing everyone looking miserable and skinny.
He enjoys making new friends and discovering new things about his surroundings. Once he moves to a remote area in Germany, Bruno is bored with no friends and very little to do. He sees people in the distance working behind a fence from his window and decides to explore the neighborhood. Once he is there, Bruno meets a boy named Shmuel who wants to be his friend. He secretly brings his new friend candy and food, and they even play games together.
The parts that show historical accuracy include the verbal and physical abuse to the Jewish people, the starvation and cruelty of the concentration camps, and the eyes turned by the German’s in command. An example of physical abuse is when Shmeul was beaten for taking food off the table. This was taken as a sign of disrespect, although they had a plenty amount of food to eat. An example of emotional abuse is when Paval was mocked at the dining room for being slow at serving the drinks. He was ridiculed as well as eventually beaten for knocking over the drink.
He met a friend named shmuel who lived on the other side of the fence. Bruno never understood why he could never play with his friend on the other side of the fence.
Explain. (20 pts.) I think the author used Shmuel because kids normal became friend pretty quickly and bruno probably wouldn’t talk to a adult. The Adult are some time creepy and old but he would try to take advantage of bruno. Also i think that is it was a guy Bruno would have never thought about walking up to the
In the movie, Bruno talks to a jew named Shmuel and eventually becomes friends with him. Even Shmuel said, “He's my friend” when being questioned by lieutenant Kotler. At this point, he has read a lot of Hitler’s writings about how jews are these monsters, but even still Bruno chooses to be friends with him because he believes that Shmuel isn’t a monster. Bruno tries to help Shmuel find his father even though he has no clue where his father is. To try and do this he goes as far as infiltrating the concentration camp where he then says “Let’s go find your father.”.
Bruno's not as happy as he thought he'd be about this idea, though, and dreads breaking the news to Shmuel. However, as it turns out, Shmuel has bigger fish to fry: His dad's gone missing. The boys hatch a plan for Bruno to dress up in pajamas and help Shmuel find his dad before he leaves Auschwitz on Saturday. The next day, Friday, Bruno goes to the fence.
The film called “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” is about an eight year old boy named Bruno (protagonist), who came from a governmental level anti-semitic environment. Interesting enough when watching the historical movie several props and costumes were used to tell the story of the Nazi and Jewish lifestyle during that era such as posters, books and clothings. Bruno and his family ends up leaving an upscale residential area in Berlin which at one point was his happy place called home and moving to a countryside house in the middle of nowhere. His family was ordered to relocate because Bruno’s father, Ralf (antagonist), was promoted in military ranks. Like most young boys Bruno becomes inquisitive and wants to explore his new local surroundings.
