After attending the Brunch/Performance I thought of many details of being a Resident Assistant. First, it felt like there was very minimal time spent on preparation. For example, the amount of people that attended were very minimal. This makes me feel like this event wasn’t marketed very well to the student body (comparing last year it was packed in there). This makes me understand that in order for one of my programs to be successful as a potential Resident Assistant, I need to market all my events and encourage my residents to attend. Another example that struck me was that the whole event wasn’t checked in advance. The performance itself was supposed to start at noon due to technical problems and the event didn’t start until around
The position of Assistant Resident Director is a challenging, engaging, and rewarding experience. I can see it in each ARD I have worked with. I got into residence life to grow as an individual. Many of the positions offered to student staff serve as catalysts for personal growth. Over the last year and a half of serving as a Resident Advisor, I have come to realize the biggest growth happens when you put the needs of others above your own. In my eyes, a successful ARD will have built an atmosphere where growth can occur and is aware of the wellness of the hall community. The role of ARD is almost limitless in terms of how many lives can be touched.
Organizing all the crucial details such as the date, time, venue, food, and music became very overwhelming. One week prior to the event, the concert venue suddenly became unavailable. After searching for alternatives, and talking with the
Resident Assistants at Marist College are extremely important, as they act as role models, mentors, representations of the college itself, and ultimately friends to their residents. They aid in the adjustment of students to their new dorm and provide advice to their peers in all aspects of college life including but not limited to social and academic acclimation. Resident Assistants have numerous tasks to perform daily and much responsibility; the most important being to make sure that all residents are safe and happy. Through RA programs, meetings and nightly rounds, a sense of community is initiated and fostered throughout the year. Being a RA requires complete commitment of time and energy because it sometimes calls for late nights, sparks
I was able to assess medical diagnoses and medication effects of the residents, and learn how to facilitate the development of their social goals. During resident care conferences I was able to see that successful care and results for the residents required strong communication and teamwork between different departments in the facility. I can resolve any conflicts between my personal values and requirement of the social work
I practiced for many hours for jazz band so I we could be good at state jazz. State jazz ment a lot to me because I love jazz band; it was time state jazz and I had never played as good as I did that day. We took home second place in state jazz, it was a hard contest that year. With jazz band coming to an end and concert band coming to an end it was time to start planning the band banquet. The band banquet is a banquet at the end of the year to celebrate the entire year in a dressy fashion. It took a few months to plan everything out and get the funding together. My family and I made all the decorations for the banquet, it took about two weeks to make everything and we still where making stuff on the day of the banquet. After getting everything up it was time for me to get ready. I bought a new dress shirt and a new suit jacket and tie I was looking fly. We made a photo booth for the banquet and that was a huge success with everyone, they loved it. The banquet was very nice and I got lots of compliments on everything. My band directors said it was the best banquet in 7 years. I was very happy with how everything turned out; it was a great end to my senior
Duties of being a Resident Assistants can be very challenging, exciting, and enduring. Although I am an incoming sophomore at Wilberforce University I believe I meet the criteria and have the skills of being a RA. I understand there will be conflicts that come along with that title, but with past opportunities and obstacles I am able to resolve many situations. It is important to complete a task on time, so things can run smoothly and efficiently. I am a great team player and I work well with others; which is why it is imperative to be punctual. There is a plethora of skills I could bring to the table such as; my love and compassion for others, my people skills, and i'm very well with multi-tasking. I enjoy helping and uplifting young ladies
I got one response back. Alexis said she could come as soon as she got off of work, but she would probably be late. At this point I didn't care how late, she was going to be, I was desperate. I even thought that I may need to borrow someone from a different team, anyone can stand with a smile on their face and greet guest right? I arrived at 3:30 to set up carts and check bathrooms, cause I knew our time was limited. We held our huddle in the eHQ hallway, we helped break down the child dedication and was in position by 5:30 to greet our guest, we were able to prep guides for Sunday WE and folded 2 boxes of shirts for resources. I have amazing team. They are dependable and have huge hearts. My team worked diligently to accomplish what we had to get done with what little resources we had. This experience was a great lesson for me and my team. It helped me realize that I can find a way, no matter the circumstances. Even though the odds were against us, we brought our A game and accomplished what we were set out to do, which is to help provide a welcoming atmosphere to all our
I learned about the Resident Assistant position by talking to my Resident Assistant’s in Colter Hall. I talked to a couple of my RA’s about what the job all is involved with. I also saw all the poster up around campus telling us what we needed to do, to start the process of the application. The number one reason that prompted me to apply for this position is hearing all the Resident Assistants talk about how many people they meet along the way. How much fun they all have and just how it sounded like a really good job to get involved with the campus and meet a lot of new people. The reason why I would like to become a Resident Assistant is because it would defiantly help out in the money area of paying for college and I want to get more involved
This is one of the most difficult student positions to hold and to perform well, and still have a social life. As a RA you are called on to do a mutilate of tasks that need to be done in a certain amount of time, while at the same time you are still a student, and still hold college experience. As an Resident Assistant you hold many responsibilities, and held accountable for so many other people during the time you are shaping your own education. By far being an RA, a student, a person who can make bad decision at times and a sociable being is one of the greatest challenges you will face during your life as an RA here at Delaware State University. RA's act as the supervisors (Mother Hen, or Pops) of their floor/wing or apartment unit and gain valuable experiences that will exercise their organization, leadership, supervisory methods, crisis management, and peer counseling skills in the area of conflict resolution. All of these experiences you will gain as an RA are experience that you can use for a lifetime, and use as an example for any other situation that may arise in the
I have recently completed my master’s degree and I would like to publish an article on a given topic for Parker-Benson Publishing. The topic that I would like to have published is about evaluating standardized tests for a specific grade in kindergarten through 12th grade. Standardized tests are the kind of test which will require the children at kindergarten to be answering exact questions which can be compared to easy analysis. The children are passed in the same education system and later are evaluated using same questions which require same answers. Standardized tests help in improving the education system of any state. This article after I publish it I will show my acquired skills in communication and technical writing at the
My most favorite of all time restaurants to dine at is The Cheesecake Factory. This restaurant is a famous corporate chain of restaurants that offers a widespread variety of all types of American dishes and of course specializes in the most amazing variety of the best tasting cheesecakes. I love the experience of dining at the Cheesecake factory because the atmosphere is so welcoming and the artwork on the ceilings make you feel very lavish, the food is great and the service is excellent. A particular visit last month proved to me that Cheesecake factory lives up to the expectations of its guests.
My interest in a Resident Assistant position comes from my desire to help. I was born with a very strong sense of empathy and if I see that a person is struggling I do all that I can do to alleviate them. Whether it is a person with a learning disability who struggled in class to the “weirdo” in high school who just wanted a friend, I’ve been there for them. Nothing is more painful to me than seeing a person being mistreated, under respected or neglected and I do all I can to protect people from this. My goal is to make every person feel as if they have someone on their side, someone

Performance reviews are designed to both evaluate general performance and measure progress around specific goals. Both negative and positive aspects are incorporated in these reviews as they should serve as a point of reference to both look back in evaluation and ahead in anticipation. Pulling back from daily demands in order to assess and review employee performance allows managers to focus their attention on specific departments and clarify what is high priority to their company. Performance reviews also act as an opportunity to acknowledge working staff and identify professional development which will further support the staff members’ career growth. Reviews are seen as a powerful tool that can be tied to a company’s overall success;
