According to Wikipedia, Hip-hop music, also called rap music, is a musical genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted. It developed as part of hip hop culture, a subculture defined by four key stylistic elements: MCing/rapping, DJing/scratching, breaking/dancing, and graffiti writing. Hip hop is also characterized by these other elements: sampling (or synthesis), and beatboxing.

Music is not simply a sound that we find pleasing. It is the culmination of notes, chords, rhythms, melodies, harmonies, voices, and instruments. Rhythm, melody, and harmony are the rudimentary elements of music. Rhythm is the most vital element of music. It is the beat and is arguable the reason that a song is initially appealing. I find it interesting that although the deaf cannot hear music they can feel a beat. Melody is the tune of a song and the part that is most recognizable. Melodies are made up of a succession of pitches, whose highness or lowness can dictate the overall mood of the piece. The harmony of a piece of music is designed to support and enhance the melody. The harmony is present to add depth to a piece of music. When I was part of the high school choir I was an alto; although the harmony was more difficult to learn, it was, as my choir director would put it, the “gravy” of the piece, meaning that even though the melody could stand easily by itself, the harmony adds an element far more

The most important literary term is structure, this is the beginning layout of the poem, story or song. This is how the poem is organized it is where the author decides how the story is to begin, the details that are going to keep the reader intrigued, the crisis and the climax and the way the poem is to end, the resolution. Even in the song “In the End” there is an outline of how it begins and ends. Right away the author shows that there is a major complication, he has worked hard at reaching a goal or helping a person and has failed. Then further down in the lyrics he shows the crisis, where all of the reasons are starting to build up as to why he has decided not to stay with the other character in the song, he sings reasons like when you were mocking me, acting like I was your property and fighting all the time. He even sings about everything has changed and there is no way to bring it back. He then lines it up with when the chorus hits; we see the resolution of the song. I chose this particular experiment to see what my mind would allow me to draw based on the way the music sounded. I thought this would be a cool experiment to see how I feel when different music is playing and how I interpret the music I hear into a drawing.

Music is defined differently for each individual. It is the universal language that speaks to us all, but in different ways. It is one of the few genres that can instantly transport a person back to the past. Music is also an art of sound which expresses ideas, thoughts, and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, and harmony. It is the design of giving structural form and rhythmic pattern to combinations of sounds produce instrumentally and vocally. To me, music brings a sense of calmness, happiness, and peacefulness. Music is the absolute bread of life because it feeds my soul.

Music originates from all over the world since the beginning of time. Complex or simple, fast or slow, loud or soft. It’s what you feel. It could be your method of escape or keeping you living.
