In 1912, when Clarence my older brother returned to Chattanooga, he persuaded the managers of his troupe, Lonnie and Cora Fisher, to give me an audition. The death of Mccandless was a controversial matter: people argued their thoughts on Mccandless’ story, and who's to blame for Mccandless' death. Some say it’s Mccandless’ own stupidity, or his honorable seek for thrill. Others say it’s his parents’ horrible way of raising him, or nature’s unforeseen acts. However, it is a mixture of all these, with Mccandless being the most at fault. Mccandless might have had choices, but there were things he couldn’t control, neither can anyone else.
Eugenie Clark was born on May 4, 1922 in New York City; she died at age 92 on Feb. 25, 2015. She died due to lung cancer which she had a tough battle for many years. Eugenie started her interest in fish and sharks when she went to her first aquarium when she was nine years old. From there she went to college to study ichthyologist in New York City University. Ichthyologist is a branch of zoology that deals with fishes. Eugenie received her Bachelor of Arts degree where she majored in zoology and her Master of Arts degree.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 1837, the first higher education institution for African Americans was founded on February 25th given the name Institute for Colored Youth (originally the African Institute). After changing its name again to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moving to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it continues as the oldest predominantly African American school of higher learning. The institute was founded by Richard Humphreys, a Quaker philanthropist who donated 10,000 dollars to establish a school that would educate young African American male and females the skills needed to become more competitive in the job market (Conyers, 1990).
