Garrett Krix Mrs. Atkin ELA 8 6 December 2014 The Titan’s Curse Just when we thought the series couldn’t get any weirder, it does. In this book (the third in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series), travel with Percy and his friends through well known locations such as Washington D.C., Hoover Dam, and San Francisco. Read through as they come face to face with new monsters, humans, and gods. Though the last two books simply set the stage, this one is packed with monsters, action, and comedy, to bring the best of the series yet. Camp Halfblood has been somewhat downsized as the search for more demigods slows. With not many left at the camp, it is believed that demigods are nearly extinct. However what seems like the end is just the beginning. Percy and his friends Annabeth, and Thalia are sent to a boarding school where it is believed that two very important demigods are hiding out. Both the children of Hades. They are sent to recruit them and bring them back to Camp Halfblood to be trained to fight properly, but what seems like a simple task, actually sets up the rest of the book. After getting the two demigods out of there, there's a mysterious man from the boarding schools following them, and he is not human. After …show more content…
Led by the goddess (of the moon and hunting) Artemis herself. Of course they will need a place to stay. So Percy takes them to Camp half-blood with the help of Artemis’ brother (god of the sun and archery) Apollo. Later that night, Artemis leaves on a quest to hunt down Atlas. Atlas was the titan who was burdened with holding the sky. He was set free, and now seeks revenge on Zeus, who put him under the sky in the first place. However, Artemis is captured by Atlas, and Artemis’ second in command, Zoe, sets out on a quest to find her. She brings only the best with her. Including Percy’s friend Grover, and Thalia, along with other hunters, but not
We have all read books about heroes and monsters and princesses in towers, one of these books that I have read is Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. Many people like this book, and here are a couple reason why I loved reading this story. Including how the hero defeats the evil, and how he saves the world. A modern life high school boy who gets thrown into chaos.
Percy was trying to find Grover but Grover found Percy and his friends Annabeth and Thalia. Grover told Percy and others that he found the demigods but there was a monster that was trying to take the demigods away and have them join the other side. Grover had to acted like a student in school but his friend’s smell gave the monster a heads up and he knows what to do. So Grover and Percy and the others were trying to find the demigods they are students and they did not know what is a demigod and if they are half bloods. Percy and Grover finally spot them and people got in front of the kids and they were gone.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is about a 12 year old boy named Percy Jackson who's getting chased by mythological monsters and his two friends Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, and Grover Underwood a satyr who is Percy's protector. Percy was in 6th grade and had just gotten out of school for summer break, when he found out that he was a half-blood, his mother was Sally Jackson, a mortal and his father was Poseidon, king of the sea. Percy got sent to camp Half-Blood for protection from monsters and got assigned a mission to find a lightning bolt that the gods think he stole and prevent a war between the gods, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus.
In the book Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Percy is your typical 12-year-old boy who is a troublemaker in school and lives with his mother’s abusive husband. Percy’s life changes when he accused of stealing Zeus’ master bolt and attacked by monsters. Percy’s mother is killed along the way towards a camp called Camp Half-Blood and trains his heritage as a demigod. Percy is then sent on a heroic quest, with friends, to prove his innocence and along the way, rescue his mother from Hades. After a long and arduous journey of being chased by monsters, Percy managed to return the lightning bolt and save his mother. Percy is then betrayed by a close friend, as the friend was the thief, and escaped while warning them of the true mastermind.
Percy Jackson is the main character in this story, who is a demi god, who mortals are after. His name is short for Perseus and his father is one the big three gods, Poseidon. He is suffering from dyslexia and ADHD, which could be deliberately added to the
that Greek gods exist, and have been closely observing western culture and ideas. The author draws parallels to Percy’s life, who is an American teenager, with that of Greek heroes. This parallel helps the readers to relate to the book, essentially engaging the young readers to learn about Greek mythology and the lessons of life that it teaches, in a not so bland way. The protagonist of the novel, Percy Jackson, is revealed to be special in some way. This section also develops other supporting characters, such as Chiron, Percy’s teacher, who also was mentor to Hercules and Grover, who is Percy’s sidekick, a multi-dimensional character with his own past, hopes and concerns. The association of Chiron and Percy foretells that Percy will carry on heroic deeds in future. Percy fights Minotaur, a monster that even Theseus fought and defeated. In the process of defeating Minotaur, Percy loses his mother, which he feels was his last hope to returning to his normal human life. By drawing parallels between Percy and various heroes of Greek Mythology, the author shows Percy in the light of a hero. A hero who is yet to prove his worth in the Camp Half-Blood. His encounter with Clarisse at a bathroom in camp, allows him to show his strength, which was very similar to that of his father Poseidon, but also instils in some ways fear amongst the camp
Outside of the museum Percy gets into a fight with the local bully and ends up knocking her down with water from the fountain, although no one really understands what has happened. This is a manifestation of Percy’s powers. It turns out he is a Half-Blood-half-human and half Greek God.
Percy wakes up at a place called camp half-blood. Camp half-blood is created by magical borders in order to protect demigods so they can continue to train while being safe. After entering camp half-blood Percy learns about his identity of being a demigod. A demigod is child from a human and Greek god parent. He learns that he’s the son of one the three major Gods, Poseidon. Also, that his mother is very much alive but is kidnapped by Hades one of the three major Gods as well. Percy then goes into training and utilizes his dragon to be a positive trait that helps him settle into his new life. As his dyslexia functions for mythology and his ADHD helps him keep moving in
When Talia's tree starts failing Camp Half-Blood , Percy , Tyson , and Annabeth have to go search for the Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is known for its healing powers.Tyson is a cyclops or Percy's "half brother". Poseidon was said to take in all cyclopses as his sons. They take off on the ship called the "Princess Andromeda". Then the ship sinks and leaves the stranded in the middle of the Sea of Monsters. As Percy, Annabeth and Tyson are sailing in a little boat across the sea they encounter many monsters. The first monster the half-bloods encounter was a monster that has the shape of a whirl pool and gigantic teeth. After escaping that monster, they were spit out onto an island with a very big monster! It was a humongous cyclops. The half-bloods
Artemis, a hunters GOD, and her huntresses come out of nowhere and shoot at Dr. Thorn. Annabeth jumps on Dr. Thorn’s back, then Dr. Thorn jumps off the cliff with her on his back. When Artemis leaves to find Dr. Thorn, she puts huntress Zoe in charge. Zoey, Percy, Thalia, and the other Huntresses travel back to Camp Half-Blood with Apollo, Zoey’s brother.
Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse. In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos' army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop the invasion, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth - a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn. Along the way Percy will confront powerful enemies, find out the truth about the lost god Pan, and face the Titan lord Kronos’s most terrible secret. After the adventure at Percy’s birthday, Poseidon appeared. Then, Nico came and told Percy that he knew how to defeat the titan armies for good.
Something we all know about the Greek Gods is that there are a lot of them. From the God of Wine, to the Goddess of childbirth, there is a God or Goddess for everything. The main ones are the twelve with thrones made in Mount Olympus. And whom could be a better story teller of these then Percy Jackson? Percy takes the tales of how the world began, to each god and their personal battles, whether it was in war or love. With some side jests, and remarks for the readers, Percy takes each tale and gives it its own unique twist, keeping you captured till the end.
Shape shifters- Luke and Ares. At first, I thought that they were helping Percy but then suddenly they are also part of the problem that Percy had. They were like helping Percy and giving them advices but they were traitors.
Percy Jackson thinks he is a normal twelve years old student. Well, not normal because he has Dyslexia and ADHD. One day, after encountering a mythological creature, chasing after him for an unknown reason, he learns that he is not ordinary, after all. He is a son of an Olympian God, Poseidon, and his best friend, Grover, is not a boy, but a satyr in disguise. He does not have Dyslexia and ADHD, he just has the ability to read Ancient Greek, and act like a warrior. His mother kept
Later on in the chapters, Percy discovers that the modern world he lives in is not what he thinks. He finds that ancient Greek theology is very much real. He gets shipped to a camp in the middle of nowhere as a safe haven from dangers of ancient Greek mythology. This camp (Camp Half Blood) is a haven for young demi-gods to find their
