Luke Castellan is the antagonist of this series and one of its main villains. At the end of the first novel, Luke is revealed to be the real enemy and a traitor when he attempts to murder the protagonist of the story, Percy Jackson. This betrayal is particularly brutal since Luke acted as a mentor to Percy throughout the book. He welcomed Percy into Camp Half Blood, and helped him to become accustomed to his new life by giving him advice and training with him. Luke betrayed his friends and family as an act of revenge mainly towards his father and the other gods. Luke fights for the titan Kronos, assisting him in his goal of bringing down the gods, not because he believes that Kronos will be a better ruler, but because he wants to see Olympus
This book begins with Percy Jackson, a 12 year old boy with dyslexia and ADHD, as he began to suspect that his life was not what it seems when his class took a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and his teacher, Mrs. Dodds transformed into one of the three Furies of Greek legend and attacked him. Percy's Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, threw him a magic sword named Anaklusmos, or Riptide, and killed her. When Percy came out from the battle, nobody remembered Mrs. Dodds and his best friend Grover Underwood began to act strangely, saying cryptic comments about Percy being in danger.
that Greek gods exist, and have been closely observing western culture and ideas. The author draws parallels to Percy’s life, who is an American teenager, with that of Greek heroes. This parallel helps the readers to relate to the book, essentially engaging the young readers to learn about Greek mythology and the lessons of life that it teaches, in a not so bland way. The protagonist of the novel, Percy Jackson, is revealed to be special in some way. This section also develops other supporting characters, such as Chiron, Percy’s teacher, who also was mentor to Hercules and Grover, who is Percy’s sidekick, a multi-dimensional character with his own past, hopes and concerns. The association of Chiron and Percy foretells that Percy will carry on heroic deeds in future. Percy fights Minotaur, a monster that even Theseus fought and defeated. In the process of defeating Minotaur, Percy loses his mother, which he feels was his last hope to returning to his normal human life. By drawing parallels between Percy and various heroes of Greek Mythology, the author shows Percy in the light of a hero. A hero who is yet to prove his worth in the Camp Half-Blood. His encounter with Clarisse at a bathroom in camp, allows him to show his strength, which was very similar to that of his father Poseidon, but also instils in some ways fear amongst the camp
The Minotaur, meaning Minos bull, was “a monster of dire appearance, having the body of a powerful man and the head of a bull” (Seltman 98). Against his newfound father’s request, Theseus leaves Athens in hopes of returning victorious against the bull-headed beast. In a heroic fashion, Theseus leaps over the next step in Campbell’s hero journey and never refuses his call to adventure. The next step to any hero’s journey is an encounter with a super natural aid, but Theseus’ story takes a moral mentor to gather resources needed for the rest of his journey (Robertson 269). Theseus encounters his unlikely mentor upon arriving to Crete; Minos daughter, Ariadne, instructs Theseus to take a ball of linen with him into the labyrinth in order to trace back his steps after defeating the Minotaur (Martin 129). Crossing the threshold, Theseus ties one end of his ball of linen to the front door and journeys into the unconquerable maze and towards the beast (129). Theseus passes through his first trial of navigating the labyrinth inwards with ease straight into danger. Walking
Sally began the story. She told Paul about her first lover, how they had met at Montauk, and what happened to him. Then Annabeth took over, and told Paul about the Greek gods and goddesses, and that they followed Western Civilization and they were still very much alive. She also told him about demigods' ADHD and dyslexia, their battlefield reflexes and how they could all speak Ancient Greek fluently, including not all mortals being able to see anything because of the Mist. Finally, Percy took over, and told Paul about Camp Half-Blood, discovering who his father was, and all of his adventures and quests, up until this last summer, with the Labyrinth.

How will you change this poor evil labyrinth and make it able? Clearly there’s a lot to be changed. The three things I’d do are abolish cancer, this illness is just a way for innocent people and families to get hurt. Next get rid of social contracts, social rankings are just another way for people to make others feel worthless. Then make nations whole again, our countries are more worried about what benefit’s them instead of what benefits everyone.
