In the adolescence period of development, late childhood is entering a new stage. Adolescence is a transition between childhood and adulthood. It involves changes in many different aspects including personality, physical altercations, intellectual, and social development. During this time of change, teens are faced with many issues and decisions. I will discuss the impact this stage of life has on social development. While healthy development on an individual should pass through from infancy to late adulthood, adolescence is the prime time in which certain, specific theories come into play. Those who are born with mental defects and/or disorders may be able to be treated. However, it is more likely that the disease will never fully go away. Depending on the sovereignty and how far along it is, mental illness can be treated. Many smaller problems in teenage lives will later turn into disorders in the adolescent stage. This can be avoided by using methods such as adventure therapy, equine-assisted therapy, to just being in the right place at the wrong time; everything can be turned around. (newport academy)
The environment that a child is exposed to is very influential, as a high-quality living environment has been positively linked to cognitive development (Guo & Harris, 2000). Therefore those children living in poverty are at a further disadvantage due to their low-quality living environment.
Some argue that the children who grow up in poverty are well prepared for adult life than the children from well-off families. I disagree with the statement. First, I will discuss why it is almost impossible to be successful if someone grows up in penury and second, I will provide some examples of the most successful people who came from wealthy families.

Development is a lifelong affair that does not stop when we reach adulthood. According to Broderick and Blewitt (p. 150), self understanding is one of the key building blocks of personality, social, and moral development. That is why I chose to use Eric Erikson’s psychosocial development theory, the ego identity. He believed that personality develops in a series of eight stages that have the potential for personal growth and failure. I believe that one must function as a member of society, but in order to do this, one must form an identity.

According to the World Health Organization, “One in four people in the world will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives.” This means that there are diseases that exist that can affect anyone in the world, but because an ignorant society dismisses it as less serious or something one can control, less and less people seek help. The brain, as complicated and important as it is, can in no way be perfect. Mental Health illnesses are not less serious or any less treatable than any other type of illness.

For example, a person applying for a job, the employer will most likely do a background check which may result in a decline of employment due to their social standing. They will automatically see that the person is from a lower-class division. Resulting in discrimination against the person because of his/her social class.
