In middle school she found that high school has more excitement and that middle school was just another waiting years to grow up. Over the course of the summer before entering high school, she new that she had a fresh start and a fresh location to write another chapter. Caroline took in the consideration and the fact that this will be the best time of my life. She then considered in order for that to happen, she has to change her values and personality. The first ever value she wanted to change was her weight. As she look in the mirror she felt extremely insecure about her body and looks. Kettlewell says,”I weighed ninety-eight pounds, which at five two inches would have been stretching the definition of fat.(Page:74)” This shows us that Caroline is feeling very insecure due to her weight. She constantly is measuring her weight and wanting fast change. In order to do that, Caroline stops eating strictly but yogart, tangerine, and root beer. For instance, in “Horses of the Night,” the character of Chris has dissociative symptoms that can be linked to his depression. Margaret Laurence’s short story tells the story of Chris, a young teenager who moves to from a small farm to the town of Manawaka in order to go to high school. The story is told by his younger cousin, Vanessa. As she grows up, she learns that Chris is depressed. The author uses the theme of fantasy to show that he does not cope well with reality. More so, the clients emphasize how she has been visiting her parents for the past 15 years, which is a big stress for Caroline and her family. The client stated that if she missed the Sunday dinner in her parent’s house they will never forgive her, meaning such action or plan is totally unacceptable. This particular issue is one of the biggest stress in Caroline life at present, because she is trying to please her elderly parents by keeping with a tradition that is causing more problem in her family.
