2 Delayed Financial Aid Payments Grantham’s financial aid department switched to a new system and it is not affective as the old system. As a student at Grantham University, the new way does not stay up to date and you have to wait on someone to review your financial aid package. Which can take up to a couple of days or a couple of weeks depending on when they check it. When starting Grantham almost 4 years ago we were told that they financial aid payment would be processed 30 days after your start date in class. With the new system, there is no way of telling when you will get your financial aid payment and it is harder to get someone on the phone to talk to you about it. A new financial aid timeline was uploaded for students to get information. This timeline is to help …show more content…
The nature of the data is overwhelming for someone that is a student at Grantham, because they have no way of determining if their payment will be in time to order their books for the next term. Since the new system, we do not have funds just for books and the school does not order these books for us anymore. Each student has to use part of their financial aid payment to purchase the books and we have to do it a week before class starts. With the research on this topic, it is safe to say that the financial aid department needs to go back to the old way of handling the payments due to students. The reason for this is that students had a better grasp of when they would get their payments and when they were going to get their books for the term. The data collection you would use for an iTunes media search would have to start out with a questionnaire or interview costumers. It will be extremely difficult to interview all the costumers. A questionnaire is something where you can send out an email or put it on your social media page to get your answers.
I. FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students that want to go to college can go their website and fill out a form every year. Then FAFSA decides what programs that student is eligible for to get student financial aid from the U.S. Government.
If you have been awarded Financial Aid, PAYMENT IS NOT REQUIRED unless you have a balance remaining once these funds have been applied.
It was normal day like any another when I received my financial aid package from college. I remember the excitement that came with being one step further on the path to my life. And just as clearly, I can remember the sinking feeling I got in my stomach when I looked at my financial aid package. This was the first time in my life I had thought I might not go to college. After thought about education, experience, and money, I came to that college is worth the debt that may be incurred.
Susan Furr, bookkeeper at the Academy for the Arts, Science, & Technology, states that the general funds that are available and sent to each individual school are based on student enrollment and are usually adjusted after a 45-day count has been completed. The chief officer for each specific department handles funds for special programs and federal funding allocations. Included in this area are things such as Title I funds or Perkins funds for vocational programs (S. Furr, personal communication, October 9, 2005).
families with high-school students will be able to apply for financial aid a few months after they
Staring from the 1940s, Student financial aid began to play a significant role in prompting student access, persistence and completion rate of American Higher Education. Since students can be regarded as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need-based aid and merit-based aid are most important financial aid for students.
Many high school students are beginning their senior year and have already started to stress about how they will pay for their higher education. Although many students will have scholarships and financial aid, a lot more will struggle to pay for schooling and will have to take
Hossler and Kwon (2015) examined the three shifts that affected financial aid policies at four year public colleges and universities, which were the economy, federal policy and demographic trends. These trends impacted economic conditions during the various periods. The authors reported that the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944 was the beginning of the federal government’s involvement in providing financial aid to veterans interested in postsecondary education. During the 1940s and 1960s, this initiative caused an influx of students to enroll in college. This led to the expansion of community colleges. These trends aided in the passage of the next wave of federal programs such the National Student Loan Program, the Educational Opportunity
All students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in order to retain aid eligibility as directed by the U.S. Department of Education. SAP is monitored at the end of each applicable term. Students who have lost their eligibility for certain types of financial aid have the option to submit an appeal to have their aid reinstated. To appeal the loss of financial aid, students are required to first submit a written appeal. All financial aid appeals will be reviewed by committee. Throughout the Fall Semester, I served on the FA committee at the Carroll Campus. As a members of the Appeals Committee, I reviewed the entire academic and appeal history, not just the most recent semester. Additionally, I reviewed supporting documentation
As we enter this monumental point in our lives, college brings forward many hardships and stress on trying to continue education. The Financial Aid office here at The Tennessee State University has been located in the Floyd-Payne student center on the third floor suite 343 for approximately 20 plus years. It is down the hall from the office of admission and to the left of the men’s and women’s restroom. Previously it has been located in The Walter S. Davis Humanities building that was built in 1933 on the second floor. This office plays an important part in student lives to become success in their post-secondary education. Financial Aid mission is to inform undergraduates, Graduates, and parents on the various types of financial assistance
Each year dozens of workshops are held at multiple locations throughout the state of NJ. These workshops assist hundreds of students and their families to complete the FAFSA application for grants, loans and scholarships with fewer mistakes and in a timely manner. The majority of these are the families of high school seniors preparing to attend college in the fall semester. However, this program could potentially be expanded to assist others, such as adult students who want to complete a degree or those returning to school to receive additional credentials. More importantly, this program originally funded by outside non-profit and corporate donations is limited. This Commission has the opportunity to recommend its re-birth knowing that the financial aid community will partner with you to keep it
The world is full of lurking creeps that always find one or another way to swindle and snatch your hard-earned money without even your pre-acknowledgement. It is disappointing that a person when contact to financial aid companies to get help in hard times gets clutched into these scumbags, and, as a result, lost all the money that one saved before. The trend of such companies is very common to students and their families that are desperately looking for the financial aids to cover the high cost of colleges and other higher studies.
Since more attention had been placed on the cost of higher education (Murphy & Katsinas, 2014), it was important to understand the financial aid process and the different ways to assist and maximize funding to students. The U. S. Department of Education’s website provided resources and information on the different types of financial aid that the federal government provided. This paper discussed the availability of loans to students, repayment plans, accessibility of the application process, support for applicants with questions or concerns, ease of information retrieval, and how institutional financial aid budget directors might maximize access to funds for students.

All we see is that were getting money for our education and than some. So, for the past three years being at Columbus state all I knew was to complete a FAFSA, receive my aid and start a new school year. Nothing prepared me to find out or know that I will be maxing out in student loans. Three weeks prior to school starting and finding out I maxed out in student loans, came as a complete surprise to me. I didn’t stress it though; I did not worry too much about it. I knew and so I thought, I had other options. As a student, I just knew I will be offered help and somebody will understand. Never did I think I would be writing appeals, after appeals so my voice could be heard. When I found out I maxed out in loans, I immediately called and e-mailed the Georgia student finance commission, and asked can I do an increase on my student access loan. I requested to get the maximum loan given per year. The Georgia student access loan is a loan that offers assistants to students who may have a gap meeting their educational cost. I have been receiving this loan for the past two years and it has always been able to cover my tuition. This loan however, runs on a selection cycle process and because I am selected to receive this loan each year, and there is no guarantee that I will get selected every year, I was told by my financial aid counselor that this loan was not eligible to determine or be put towards my aid until I am selected.
