Currently I am employed with a company that some may say is the 'melting pot' of diversity. Working for Corporate Safeway, now Albertsons-Safeway, I can appreciate how judgement free the environment is in our work place. They are open to hiring minorities, LGBT, (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender), disabled veterans and that's just to name a few. Hiring a staff that is of many different cultures, nationalities and belief backgrounds is a great way to show the awareness of diversity. I am a true believer that a great business starts at the top. If management can provide their employees with the skills and knowledge of working in a diverse setting this will lead to a steady and smooth work environment. Knowing how to properly and correctly carry yourself is the first step in working with the different variety of customers or co-workers you may encounter.
At 4:30 p.m. on December 6, 2010, Meredith Collins, VP of Marketing for Reed Supermarkets, walked down the sidewalk of the 10-store strip mall that housed Reed’s Westgate Plaza branch in Columbus, Ohio. Collins didn’t shop; instead she took mental notes about store traffic, first at the Reed store and then at an indirect but increasingly worrisome kind of competitor—a dollar store. The Reed was predictably well lit and inviting, and Collins could see three registers open and two or three customers in line at each. “Not too bad” she thought, “but not what I would hope for at this time of day, this close to the holidays.” She’d felt the same way at two other Reeds
The Grocery Store Industry performance is based on customer experience. Customer experience includes waiting time, helpfulness of staff, amount of choices, out of stock items, and amount of space in isles. Based on the metrics from Consumer Reports which ranked grocery stores on overall customer experience, Costco Wholesale compared with competitors in the industry is towards the top of performance ("Consumer reports ' best," 2014). Out of 55 large grocery chains looked at, Costco was ranked number 4. Costco gives their consumers a small amount of choices in products compared with most grocery stores. One example of this is their 360 count Advil. If they sold different sizes of the same product, almost no one would buy the 360-count bottle. By only selling the 360-count bottle in stores, it is predicted that only one in 10 customers will not but the product (Weitzner, The Costco Craze: Inside the Warehouse Giant). Costco does this so that customers have an easier time selecting a product to purchase. Costco was also rated high on the metric was due to the large warehouse isles. The one thing that made them ranked lower than the top three grocery stores was waiting times for check out. The biggest complaint by customers at Costco is the line for checking out. Customers said that there is never enough checkout lines open for them to be able to purchase their items (Weitzner, The Costco Craze: Inside the Warehouse Giant).

The incredible history of the Caribbean is indeed, one of the most rich, and at the same time troubling, of the New World. Its incredibly heterogeneous population and its social racial base make it a very difficult place to, for instance, live and raise a family.
