1. Using the historical data as a guide (Exhibit 6.1), construct a pro forma (forecasted) profit and loss statement for the clinic's average month for all of 2010 assuming the status quo. With no change in volume (utilization), is the clinic projected to make a profit?
Compassion international started in 1952 when American evangelist Everett Swanson’s heart was broken at seeing children orphaned by the Korean War, dying in the streets. Although he was ministering troops at the time, Swanson left South Korea promising to help the children. By 1975, Compassion International had expanded to seventeen other developing countries with more than 25,000 sponsored children. Two years later, Compassion Australia started in Laurie & Olive McCowan’s Newcastle home with the sponsorship of a single child. Compassion International grew to 250,000 sponsored children by 1998, 500,000 in 2003 & eventually 1 million in 2009.
A man can give money to the homeless on the same day as …... . Barbara Lazear Ascher wrote a piece called “On Compassion” stating that through people's own experiences, they learn compassion with the trouble right next to us. An argument that has merit, but only to a certain extent. Experiences of the individual will have them learn compassion on their own, but having the unfortunate in our faces will not guarantee a person to learn compassion. In fact, it may do the opposite and create hostility as all of us are imperfect.

CM Gilmore contacted KeKe Orum who is a friend of Holly O’Brien. She reported the following information regarding the family:
Imagine being put in a position where you needed guidance to better your life from a constant battle from addiction, may it be substance abuse or alcoholism. Where would you turn if you needed help? What options would be suitable for you as a individual? What if you didn’t have family to support you in making a positive change for your life? Having said that, I have found the ABC Recovery Center to be a great resource for people who need this sort of help of fighting this unfortunate disease. This institutions initial goals are to provide personalized treatment plans to help each individual with addiction, have it be alcohol or drugs. I personally chose this organization because of my cousin Ricky, he was addicted to heroine and it got to a point where his family had given up hope on the outcome of his life. Going through ups and downs with the legal system, he was going down a spiral. My family needed him to get the help, being that he had two twin sons on the way in November 2008. My cousin finally seeked some help and checked himself into the ABC Recovery and took the needed steps to move on from this chapter of his life. With the support and positive environment around him he gained knowledge to overcome this disease. This organization provides recovery treatments, housing, detox, and other curricular activities to make it a more welcoming space for people to enjoy their time in recovery while staying focused to a healthier lifestyle. Also, I chose
As a future alumna, I will advance the mission of Mercy College by delivering health care services as a PA to under-served urban populations with compassion and sensitivity. Being raised in an under-served community and being a premed student in Harlem, NY, I understand the challenges of being a healthcare professional in the United States. In addition, being in a diverse environment have augmented my studies in public health, and have provided me with concrete examples of how individuals can benefit from caring, sensitive providers, and how communities suffer when adequate health care services are not available or affordable. I believe as a future student at Mercy College, I will be fortunate enough to learn about the social responsibility
The Help is a novel about the Mississippi in the 1960s and the radical social changes happening. The book originates from the perspective of two black maids that work for different white working class families and one white lady who loathes the segregation she sees. Amid the 1960s the south was experiencing its Civil Rights Movement that needed to give black southerners equivalent rights as white southerners. This brought on noteworthy measures of roughness and bias towards blacks, northerners and any individual who wasn't a white southerner.
Carol Gilligan ethics of caring is relate to the virtue theory because both focuses on the compassion to each other. Gilliam believes that women, “Sensitivity to the needs of others and the assumption of responsibility for taking care… “ (Rosenstand, 649), is what lead women to feel compassion of others regardless of who the person is. That is exactly what virtue theory is about, “Whatever we do is included in our general standard of virtue” (Rosenstand, 481). In other words, the women’s compassion for helping others is rooted in their moral concerns.
It was a late shivering afternoon, we collected the ferrets for dinner. I was driving to the hospital; Corrie remained lying down unconsciously in the back of the car. Now I will tell you what really happened to Corrie and I.
When people look at the Samaritans, they may have very different view points. Some may think that they are terrible people because of the ways the Jews viewed them. Others might think they are a wonderful group of people because of the story of the Good Samaritan found in Luke. No matter one’s opinion of the Samaritans, no one can deny they were a fascinating group of people. The Samaritans worshipped like no other group of people. Their hatred for the Jews intrigues many, and their history explains a lot about their ways. The Samaritans were not all bad though; one samaritan makes many people believe this. The people of Samaria continue to intrigue many every day.
What is recovery? Webster’s Dictionary defines recovery as “the return to a normal state.” Now that we know what recovery is, have you ever been sore from a hard workout or game from the sport you play? Have you tried countless methods to try to speed up you’re recovery, such as stretching and massages just to name the basics. It seems the first thing most people do when they are sore is to either stretch the muscle or rub the muscle. They feel that if I do this I will get the lactic acid out and it will help me do what I need to do for this workout. Then what happens when they wake up again the next morning? They are still sore because they didn’t recovery properly. What if I told you there are more
If I had to critique Mercy Corps in terms of effectiveness the main factor I would focus on would be the dollar amount invested per person helped. This way it would be clear if the donations spent are actually helping the people. There are other factors but the reason why I chose this one first is because it's a charity and their business is based on donations.
Since a very young age Erika was taught by her grandma, Jennie Louise, to help others in need. However, since she was just a kid, she really did not understand why her Grandma did it if she was not getting something back. Though, because of her grandmas influence Erika later understood and began to do similar acts of kindness and continued to do them as an adult. When Erika’s grandma was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and unfortunately lost her battle Erika and her family decided to start ‘One kind step’ to keep her grandma’s legacy alive. Erika’s story, “Legacy of Caring” written by Kristin Higson-Hughes accomplished to persuade the audience to help others in need by using pathos and ethos.
