Stronger social and entertainment center. It may be possible to attract more residents Downtown to activities and events, getting them to understand and support businesses there, by improving gathering spaces. It also might be possible to increase or improve local events that attract people from outside the community. Events that are based around a well-crafted and marketed community brand should be pursued (e.g., Mountain Bike Festival and festivals based around a recreation theme and a recreation-oriented brand). Burning Mountain Park is a sizable space. However, there are features of the park and it surroundings that limit its usability. Overtime, it might be possible to expand the park and redesign it to increase use and impact …show more content…

There may be opportunities to work with solid businesses throughout the area that would like to have a pop-up outlet in New Castle. There may be opportunities to add on-line shopping into an exciting entertainment and cultural activity center or to take advantage of cooperative retail arrangement that bring together small retails throughout the area under one roof Downtown. Some existing structures in downtown could be adapted to provide smaller spaces. In some cases, the Town might consider pop-up space that can be provided outside of existing buildings in a cost-effective manner. This approach might be for consideration until a commercial market matures Downtown, thereby prompting permanent redevelopment solutions. The idea would be to help businesses grow, get familiar with Downtown. As they mature, they become future tenants for new redevelopment projects, which require such tenants to be successful. Example of Pop-Up Entertainment and Retail Commercial Activity 7. Long-Term Parking Normally, limited parking is problematic because it is costly to expand the number of parking spaced in a downtown area. However, this is not the case in New Castle. Because Main Street is actually a highway, it is 64 feet wide Downtown. It now provides four 12-foot wide travel lanes and two 8-foot parallel parking

In a day of, “I want it now and I’m willing to pay for it,” a shopping center has to offer a variety of stores, and also have several options. The shoe shopper will go to the place with 5 shoe stores before they go to the place with only 1. They may not realize that of the 5 available shoe stores; only 1 is in their price range, but satisfying a wider variety of consumers will help the mall broaden the shopper’s experience. But it is important to remember that shoppers are price sensitive, so not only do you need a variety of stores offering a variety of products, but you also need to be able to provide a variety of price points so you don’t limit your shopper demographics.

The study of urban spaces, especially with respect to gentrification, has increased dramatically in significance and relevance in the past several decades. DISCUSSION: Presently, Liberty Village is undergoing a transformation in order to implement a ‘creative class’ employment center amidst a historical industrial buildings’ theme; hence, adorning a distinct character (Catungal et al., 2009). The area has been a site for one of the oldest European settlements in Toronto (Wieditz, 2007). Businesses in Liberty Village can utilize the advantage of being located close to downtown while simultaneously possessing the advantage of being in a ‘community,’ which differs from a standard office tower within the downtown core (Catungal et al., 2009). Although Liberty Village is in close proximity to downtown, it is a disparate entity and, in fact, separate; elements that enhance

Danville needs downtown revitalization to keep people buying goods here instead of going to other towns and purchasing goods and services. The Danville Business Alliance was formed in 2004 in order to revitalize Danville which has been ongoing and still is a “work in progress.” Mr. Tom Beiter, who
Parking as described seems to be an afterthought. As stated it should be masked from the sidewalk, and laid out in a manner that it can be converted to other uses. In recent years, people who want to be close to downtown Tampa without living in the city have taken a serious look at the city of Brandon. This town has undergone enormous growth over the years. Real Estate prices in Brandon are lower than Tampa, but lack nothing in the way of amenities. There are many new neighborhoods, and communities with homes to fit every lifestyle. Large family homes, new construction, condominiums, and apartment living. These homes come complete with modern architecture, upgraded kitchen and baths and swimming pools. The growth in homes in Brandon has led to new schools and ample shopping. State Road 60 is filled with tasty dining, chain stores, home improvement warehouses and shopping plazas.
The empty lot located on the corner of Church Street and Mill Street should be used to develop a three-story grocery store because it would continue to promote mixed land use in Downtown Orangeville, it would be designed into a compact building to preserve green space, and would encourage walking in the area. Firstly, using the lot to develop a three-story grocery store would continue to promote the smart growth principal of mixed land use in Downtown. Orangeville is known for having mixed land use with several residential, commercial, and recreational buildings or areas all located near one another. Such as, the apartment building located beside the empty lot, Broadway Avenue, and Cee gardens. Building a grocery store
Revitalization efforts in downtown areas have gained momentum over the past few decades, this paper is focused on revitalization strategies, recognizing the process of decline, while identifying key strategies used in downtown revitalization efforts over the past fifty years (Faulk 2006). Downtowns, unlike suburban shopping malls or office complexes, evolved slowly over time, responding to changing technologies, social and economic patterns. A city’s identity relies heavily on the image of its downtown, so inevitably cities of all sizes commit themselves to achieving successful downtown redevelopment (Robertson 1995). As I have been reading literature on downtown revitalization a number of strategies and principles have surfaced. Many of
Today’s customers are more aware and empowered, and have more bargaining power due to the exponential increase in competition – direct, indirect or substitute. In retailing, they want hassle-free shopping, have less time at their disposal to locate the shop and the merchandise and are reluctant to keep waiting. The modern format retail stores are doing their best to anticipate the customer’s demands and are going all out to redesign their store interiors, offer more choices in varieties and assortments, and are giving as many services as feasible.
The mixture of buildings of different conditions are necessary to public life because it otherwise would be neither interesting nor fascinating. But the main reasons are because they ensure low rent yields, encouraging the growth of small enterprises. Large swatches of new construction would only prevent income since not many would afford it, and the demand for it would not be as large as it would need to be.
