There are some many political, economic, social issues that social workers and even families faces. In the Sanchez case, immigration laws plays a huge part in their family. There are members of the Sanchez family that are undocumented and could face deportation if caught. The family needs immigration resources that will assist them with the adoption of the grandson and with Roberto in their home. Emilia, which is the daughter of Hector and Celia, was born in the United States. However, she could be denied citizenship because of her drug problem. This will show “poor moral character” which is under the immigration law (New Directions in Social Work, n.d.). Also, the Sanchez family faces financial problems. Due to undocumented status of some of members, the Sanchez family cannot take advantage of the resources that may help them with their financial problems. Roberto, which is the undocumented nephew of Celia, was injured on the job and because of his status is unable to receive any financial assistance like worker’s compensation. This cause financial issues for the household. Social issues has also plaque this family. Emilia has had an abortion which is against the belief of the family. They are devout Catholics and do not believe in abortions. Vicki, which is the daughter of Celia and Hector, has been diagnosed autism. The family has not seek out resources for the daughter. I believe the family may be ashamed of her and is not

On May 16th, 2010 Aiyana Stanley-Jones, a seven-year old Black girl from the east side of Detroit, Michigan was fast asleep at her grandmother’s home when Detroit Police Department’s Special Response Team mistakenly entered the residence during a midnight raid. Officer Joseph Weekley discharged a bullet that entered Stanley Jones’ head leaving her body lifeless. Initially, Weekley was charged in connection with Stanley Jones’ death but prosecutors cleared him in 2015, ensuring he would face no repercussions for his negligence that resulted in the premature death of Aiyana Stanley Jones.
The shooting occurred at the Fruitvale train station on January 1st, 2009. At the station, a fight broke out in one of the trains and when the train stopped the fight started again outside of the train at one of the stops. While they were fighting on the train the BART officers were called. The officers came and arrested everyone that was in the fight. A guy named Oscar Grant was in the fight and was also arrested (Meyer). While Grant was being arrested by Officer Mehserle, he resisted the officer’s attempts. Since Grant was resisting he was pushed onto the ground on his stomach to be handcuffed. Johannes Mehserle was having trouble handcuffing Grant so the other BART officers helped him. When Grant was on the ground Mehserle was going to tase him since he would not stop resisting. When Mehserle thought he pulled out his TASER, he instead pulled out his gun. Mehserle accidentally shot Grant with his gun since he thought he pulled out his TASER (Bulwa).
When analyzing the case of Randy Jones, it is necessary to piece together the meaning behind each of his actions in order to understand his mental status at the time of the murders. According to the two psychologists who examined Jones, he suffers from Antisocial Personality Disorder, APD. APD is a personality disorder actually listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. So according to the Psychologists he does have a mental disorder. This type of mental disorder is characterized by repeatedly infringing on the rights of others; including behaviors such as aggressiveness, deceitfulness, impulsivity, recklessness, lack of remorse and failure to conform to social norms. I agree with the psychologists that Jones does have a mental disorder. Jones killed five women over the course of six years. Society does not approve of killing another human being but rather condemn it, this is a failure to conform to the norms of society. By only targeting women this narrows down his trigger to women. Jones doesn’t just kill these women but he mutilates them afterward, showing an anger or rage that is so strong it continues after his victim is dead. The incident with the police officer contributes to his state of mind during the commission of the crime. Jones was able to elude the police officer, thus displaying his deftness in persuasion and deceit. He was able to remain calm and collected in an extremely when he got pulled over with a victim in his
I would go for a targeted communication strategy to each of the different stakeholders. The first one will be to Jessica’s parents to re-explain the true nature of these unfortunate circumstances. I would explain to them the entire process and where we went wrong and apologize. I would also convey that the unfortunate circumstances were not specifically targeted at them but it was a bad lapse in the entire process and while we can help at this particular time with your daughter, we will reevaluate the entire process to ensure that nothing like that ever happens again. I would also inform them that from now on, to reflect the changing demographics in the area the hospital covers, the hospital will be offering language classes to all their staff to better communicate with people from different social and cultural
The Chicago Tribune reported that the Chicago Police Department extended their condolences to Jones’ friends and family. However, the question of why did this happen at all is being questioned. Neither victim deserved to be killed, and according to LeGrier’s father, the officer who fired his weapon, either white or hispanic with dark hair, knew he had messed up. He said that the officer yelled that the younger LeGrier was lunging at
On November 27th, 1976 Mr. Adams’ car ran out of fuel and he was forced to walk to the nearest gas station (Radelet, 2011). Shortly after this Mr. Adams was given a ride by local teenager David Ray Harris who was driving a stolen vehicle. The two then spent the day together, even going to see a drive in movie. That night Mr. Adams returned to a motel where he was staying. Mr. Harris, now alone, was stopped by Officer Wood and his Partner Teresa Turko shortly after midnight. Officer Wood was shot and killed by Harris, who sped off too quickly for Officer Turko to get a plate number or a good look at the shooter. Directly after this Mr. Harris drove home and for the next few days, bragged to his friends

The first witness was identified as Decalle McGowan, Mother of Alphonos Jr, Tashima Johnson and fiance of Alphonso Johnson Sr, and the second as Sharifa Derry, sister of Alphons Johnson, Jr. Both witnesses claimed once they arrived to the location a large fight began, and both of them observed a black male go up to both of the victims and repeatedly strike both with what appear to be a hand knife several times. McGowan stated that she arrived at the scene along with her family, and she saw the unknown male walk to the rear of a car and then attack her family. The two female witnesses provided a written statement of the events. The statement provided by the females concurs in great part with all the other testimonies. Decalle McGowan was transported by police officers to a location where she was able to positively identify Lonnie Taylor as the person of interest in this
