Pollution; Global Warming; Climate Change; These are all problems that caused by people who have come forward in recent years, one of the biggest issues is climate change. The United States government needs to take aggressive steps to combat climate change because scientist have warned that if the climate changing progresses at its current rate, it could have disastrous consequences for life on Earth. Data shows that climate change is linked to rising sea levels, droughts, an increase in the risk of extinction of many species, and the increase in severe storms. With all the issues that are connected to climate change we are not doing enough to try to counteract the lasting effects it has on our environment.

Over the past decade, the floods have been striking a lot more frequently than they used to. The state of Florida is predicted to soon be completely underwater and if nothing is done to help this issue, then it will only spread and soon the entire world will be under water. Climate change has been drowned out in the US presidential primary elections (Plester). Since many Americans are aware about the issue of Climate Change, many of them also refuse to believe that it 's happening. They tend to push it away which is why it 's not the most discussed topic at presidential campaigns or debates. Climate Change, otherwise known as Global Warming, has been a growing factor in Florida and should be taken into accountability. My research proposes that the state of Florida should cut down on fossil fuels, invest in an infrastructure upgrade, and residents unplug their electronic devices whether they’re on/being used or not.

Climate change is an issue that has plagued the minds of humans for centuries. The issue goes back as far as the ancient Greeks, who thought that cutting down forests could lead to more rain. We have always been preoccupied with the topic, and now finally we have evidence that it is in fact happening. We have to work towards lessening the effects that climate change has on our society and combat the reluctance of our government to change our nation’s methods of getting energy. In, “A Climate Repair Manual,” by Gary Stix, he urges Americans to change their ways and use more renewable sources of energy.

Global warming is the steady heating of Earth’s land, oceans, and atmosphere caused primarily by human activity. Climate change is one of the world’s biggest challenges right now, from people actively arguing that it doesn’t exist- to other’s who don’t care enough to do anything about it. There’s evidence showing that climate change is happening and affecting our world now and from what it seems, if action isn’t taken, major consequences will soon arise. Most of the world’s land mass has experienced a 0.2-1.0 degree Celsius average temperature increase since the 1970s, the temperatures of the Artic has increased at almost twice the mean global rate. Climate change is caused by human factors such as greenhouse gases and ozone depletion and because humans are so dependent on fossil fuels in their day to day lives, the issue at hand is only going to get worse.

Our lack of unawareness and obligation results in a postponing action. Due to the procrastination, we are now not prepared to deal with the upcoming problems of the long term future. As Gardiner states, we have difficulties with many basic issuses such as: scientfic uncertainity, intergenerational equity, nonhumans, nature. All of these issues do play a part in our climate change. For this perfect storm, “an unusual convergence of independently harmful factors where this convergence is likely to result in negative outcomes” (548), we lack the intelluctual tools to actually understand climate change. So far, we have failed to create a distinct way to understand and address

The dichotomy of climate change can divide the world down the middle. Those who believe in climate change advocate for earth-friendly policy to better the environment and help society as a whole. Those who believe the evidence does not support a climate change theory simply ignore scientists and do not advocate for any type of change in living. However, change is necessary to preserve the planet and maintain the modern democracy- not just in the US, but in the world. Those who deny climate change also deny the chance for cleaner, eventually cheaper energy, long-term jobs, healthier lifestyles, and greater unity between nations. The best and most efficient way to control the path to sustainable, green living is through the government.

In 2011, the U.S. released a report showing that a ocean rise of three feet would endanger 128 miliary coastal bases and cost the U.S. $100 billion in damage (Source 2). And this is not the end. By 2100 eight coastal military bases are in danger of losing 25-50% of their land to rising sea levels and four installations, including Naval Air Stations Key West, are at risk of losing 75-90% of their land (Source 4). Neither the executive branch or Congress have done anything major about these statistics that have developed because of such the divide within Congress whether climate change is real or not. This divide and the strong opinion of the president has lead to orders that are the complete opposite of what this country

However what is being done to cut down pollution, global warming and any other factors of climate change that is hazardous to our country are all the perspectives that are into consideration when trying to find a solution to this worldly problem. How the alleviates climate change and do what needs to be done determines the sustainability of America for future generations.

Climate change continues to bring an ever growing fear for the future. It brings fear not only due to natural distortion but also now through the money being lost in the process. Due to climate change, by 2100 the global GDP will be 23% less than what it would be if precaution would have been taken (Worland). Lot of politicians seems to sweep this fact under the rug, but climate change is starting to become more apparent. Marshall Burke, an assistant professor at Stanford University believe that we are slowly throwing are money away and actions need to be taken (Worland). Climate change is an issue that can be avoided with proper care. With this discovery, what actions will be taken?

Climate change is the term used to describe the warming of the average surface temperature on earth. Climate change; often referred to as the general term global warming, is a topic that often inspires fierce debate among those on both sides of the issue. One thing those who are pro and those that are con both agree on is that the temperature on earth has increased over the past century by an average of 1.4 degrees. The big debate on the two sides is if the warming temperatures are caused by human activities and if it is not stopped it will have dire consequences (the pro side) or if it is the result of natural causes and the earth’s surface will find ways to adapt such as crops becoming more heat resistant (the con side).

Climate change can affect negatively the economy of an entire nation in so many ways. Rising sea levels and warmer oceans are what makes storms more destructives. Which mean that the more destructive a storm is the most the government would have to spend money trying to fix the disasters that comes with it. When a strong hurricane make landfall, it destroyed everything that it on its way. It destroys houses, roads, bridges, railroad track, airports runways, power lines, dam, levees, and seawalls. All this cost money, and time that the government and the public could’ve avoid if they listen to what the experts said. One probe that one hurricane can affect the economy of a country is the latest hurricane that happened in Puerto Rico, Virgin Island, and Florida, which happens to be part of the United States. Hurricane Maria cause so many damage to the Island of Puerto Rico. A librarian at the university of Puerto Rico describes the condition of the island after it was hit saying 80 percent of the island was without power. Houses, bridges were destroyed, people don’t have enough food to eat, there is not enough drinking water. It’s not clear yet how much it would cost to rebuild the island but there’s been an estimated of 95 billion. This show that if the government priories climate change, things like this would happen less often.

Leaders from all around the world are discussing the topic of how global warming is happening and what toll it is taking on the world (Pew Global). They met in Copenhagen to discuss the changing of the climate (Pew Global). They came to the conclusion that they are willing to sacrifice a little to confront the issue of global warming (Pew Global). If containment of this problem is expected, effort will need to be put in. Global warming seems to be less of a problem in the US, China, and Russia but it is still a major problem around the world (Pew Global). Just because the US is not affected as much at the moment who is to say it will stay that way? Global warming could hit the US hard at any minute it is the Americans job to be prepared and properly informed. Of the people of France, Japan, and Spain 68 percent believed global warning to be a major issue and one that needed much more attention than it has been getting (Pew Global).
