The American Revolution was not just a spontaneous revolt over taxes some may think . There were many things that led up to the outbreak of the American Revolution, such as the Navigation Act, the Enlightenment, the Great Awakening, the French and Indian War, the Boston Massacre, and the Coercive Acts. It took many years for it to take place. This all started previously before 1775 with the first major event being the Navigation Acts of 1651.

Due to the conflict during the French and Indian War, tension arose between American colonists and the British government. This caused Americans to unite together to fight for their rights against the British. The Americans boycotted English rule, but this did not work so their only option was to go to war. The tension between the British and the Colonists lead to the revolutionary war. The American colonists were justified in waging war because they were unfairly taxed, their freedoms were denied and the British deceitfully killed the colonist.

If they would have lost this war, they would have lost any chance they had at being free. This was the moment when all the hatred and anger they had built up was able to be used to achieve freedom. This was the moment when they could finally have their own colony, their own country and not have to always feel as though they were on a leash. The revolutionary war became the battle to achieve freedom. Great Britain wanted control over the colonists. The Colonists wanted freedom. Great Britain felt the Colonists were overreacting and not appreciating all of the things Britain had done for them. The Colonists felt they were being taken advantage of. So, the Revolutionary War was and is known as the turning point in America's journey to become a transcontinental nation. Once the war was won by the Colonists, the battle was over and they got their freedom. For the first time, they were completely free and in control. All it took was the lives of 25,000 Revolutionary Soldiers and 24,000 British Soldiers. As well as $151 million from Americans and $106 million from the
