For example, King Charlemagne. Pippin has a hard time looking to him as a role model considering he never listens to Pippin, in Pippin’s eyes he is a tyrannical ruler and Pippin doesn’t agree with most of the things the he is doing as King, like slaying the people for protesting. This is an extremely prevalent problem in America today. Many young people feel they don’t have a voice in any problems that are going on in the country and they feel that can’t look up to anybody to help and guide them. There is also Fastrada, Pippin’s step-mother, who is also a horrible role model. She lies and steals from the King and is completely full of herself. And then there is Berthe, Pippin’s grandmother, who some may argue is a good role model. However, she tells Pippin, “…don’t do too much planning, and don’t do too much thinking.” Which is not great advice, especially the way Pippin takes it, which is to just enjoy the “simple things” without thinking about the

The way our heroes and idols act has a strong influence on how we behave as well. This can be seen in many circumstances with the most obvious being celebrities setting trends. The caricatures we create can also be very harmful to ourselves. Another example of negative role models is kids growing up in a ghetto often idolise local gang members. This tends to lead to those same kids replicating gang member behaviour, murdering, stealing and raping. The end result is some of these kids either in jail or dead. This is a huge problem in our society. We value people with self centered and lack of empathy not because we value these qualities within the person, but we look up to the people that are revolting against the systems and cycles of poverty and pain that we are trapped in. Young children in impoverished areas look up to gang members because they see that even though they started from nothing, as they did, they became part of something that stands up to the idea that all they will ever be is at the bottom of the food chain, picking up the scraps others have left behind. For this reason, it’s easy to see why these common thugs are idolised, they have respect and this is something that every person wants, especially people that aren’t given any. However, it does not do us any good to look up to people that slip through the cracks of the system, but rather we should try to change the system so this build up of resentment between different facets of society does not
A positive effect that role models will have on society is that they can teach us life lessons. An example of this is to work hard and never give up so you can accomplish your goals and dreams. This is a positive effect on society because it will help motivate more people and make people work hard so they can reach to the top and accomplish their goals and dreams like their role models. An example of this is usain bolt. He is a really good role model because he works really hard and he has become really successful. This could motivate people around the world to try to become just like him so they can one day be the best just like usain bolt. Unfortunately there a negative effects that role models will have on society. An example is that if an athlete/role model gets caught cheating or doing something bad. It could paint a really bad picture on the country and the person. This could also start fights with fans of countries that got caught cheating with other fans. This will bring up the crime rate and the sport will be mostly ruined. An example of this is in 2012 it was announced that in shot put Ostapchuk who failed a drug test and was caught cheating. This put a really bad image on her country and the country was mocked because she cheated in her
In the online article, “Why Are We So Obsessed With Celebrity Culture?” the author states,“It’s addicting to feel that boost in confidence or pat on the back that comes from watching the lifestyles of celebrities, which can make us check in on them even more often.” This quote makes it clear that the author, Anum Yoon, thinks that we are proud of ourselves for not making fools out of ourselves. We don’t have to think of what anyone will think of us. We are just thankful that we don’t have to lead the fake lives of celebrities. A article on Qorua.com says,“My last theory relates to how we learn. As we know, the most effective way to learn is find a mentor or role model. This requires that we model our mentor so that we might learn their skills/ways.” This ties in with what Palmer said about his brother and how he looks up to celebrities, how some of them are role
True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would like to have. Role models are those who have affected us in ways that influence us to be better people.
