True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would like to have. Role models are those who have affected us in ways that influence us to be better people. They are people who others imitate, emulate or look to for guidance. There are good role models who inspire greatness in others and bad role models who are bad influences. There are even anti-role models, pegged by the media as "bad girls" or "bad boys" who serve as good examples of what not to do if you want to become a successful, respected person. With the majority of my time spent as an athlete throughout high school and college, I believe athletes should pose as role models.

Though professional athletes get individualized attention because of their talent, being an effective team player is a major part of their job. Off the court or field, players engage in community service projects with fellow teammates, which also portray how working together, effectively, can achieve an even greater goal. Many players have also established foundations that help a population for which the player has a special interest.
Many times we find that young people look up to athletes. There are countless community centers that offer different athletic programs. Many times there are young people with endless talent and ability, striving to be just like their favorite athletes. There are a number of good athletes that display an incredible amount of perseverance in their everyday lives. This alone serves as inspiration to young people.

Jordan is a role model for little kids to persuade them to become basketball players or at least practice the sport. Michael Jordan is important because he is one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA, his drive to succeed and to
Michael Jordan was one of the most liked and influential Nba player of all time. He’s impacted more people in sports, Fashion, and overcoming Racial discrimination than any professional athlete ever.
Playing sports in high school and college helps athletes build strong character traits and good habits that will help them throughout their lives. Athletes understand the importance of being on time, working hard, not giving up, and working as a team. All of these things help athletes become better people. Many employers like to hire former athletes because these character traits make for great
I will inspire athletes to demonstrate good character. Sports do not have an influence on one’s character; however, coaches can strongly impact athletes’ character, both negatively and positively. For this reason, I will work to coach in ways that support the growth of athletes’ character and create learning opportunities and situations in which athletes can practice and learn from. As a coach, I will lead by example and demonstrate good character because actions speak louder than words. I will do this by embodying sportsmanship and respecting athletes, opponents, other coaches, and referees. I will also show this to athletes by respecting, caring, and being trustworthy. I will also lead by example by staying
For starters, I believe that student athletes should be a leader to their peers and in their community through attitude and hustle. This seems like it would be normal for someone that is seen as the face of their school, but often times these two things can come low on some athletes list of priorities. In school, instead of being the typical “jock” personality, student athletes should be the ones that portray a positive and caring attitude towards their peers. On the field/court, student athletes should always give their all. Many like to give up if they aren’t playing well, or if they aren’t playing at all, but this only brings the overall morale of the team down tremendously. Whether it is making plays or supporting teammates, everyone on a team has a role no matter if they are on the field or on the bench. Every single player has a part in success and one negative attitude can be the one to overtake an entire team.
Every child at some point in their lives dream about becoming a rock star, doctor or an astronaut, but the career that stands out the most is becoming a professional athlete. Why? One reason could be the ever increasing media coverage on each individual sport with certain channels devoted for just that particular sport, keeping viewers updated and thirsting to get out and play. Another could be the ease of getting out in the backyard as a kid to shoot the basketball, throw a football, or hit a baseball because it is harder to perform heart surgery or fly to the moon when you're only a child. With that being said; it is easy to look up to a professional athlete and put your heart and soul into them wearing
When someone looks at an professional athlete the only thing that comes to mind is how far the person has gone in order to achieve his or her dream. It has become an instinct for people to just look at the superficial part of the athlete such as fame and riches which blocks out the people that worked the hardest. Behind every athlete there is a parent that is supporting them on their highs and on their lows, which is the reason why the athlete is always thankful for their parents. But the most outstanding parents are the resilient ones because no matter the rough situation they are going through they are able to give their all for their sons or daughters.
My point is, why would athletes even be suited to be role models? Because they're on television? In the words of the great Charles Barkley, "Just because I can dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids."
First off, teachers give so much more to society than professional athletes. Teachers build communities from the ground up by giving children a chance to explore, a chance to learn, and most of all, a chance to cherish life while one has it. Kobe Bryant, a professional basketball player on the Los Angeles Lakers, once earned
Athletes are so much more than just big men with the natural ability to play a game. An athlete is a hero, a role model, and someone young boys and girls grow up aspiring to be. Athletes give hope to so many children that if they work hard their dreams can also come true. However, more recently athletes have been sending the wrong message to our youth, and future generations of professional athletes. We are finding out more often than in past years now that our hometown heroes are actually staring us in the wrong direction. Lance Armstrong, a
Everyday today's youth are asked what they want to be when they grow up. Some say teachers, firemen, police officers and a large response to that question is a professional athlete. Something that all these professions have in common is that they are all role models to children. Firemen, teachers, police officers have an easy job at doing this; they are after all the people that save children, teach children and protect children. But professional athletes on the other hand have a difficult task assigned to them when it comes to being role models. Professional athletes are not given an option as to be a role model or not. Just because they have a special gift does not make them have
As a role model how do you incorporate this into your everyday life? The simple thing to do is to live your life, but to respect others and teach other athletes about right and wrong; just because you have not been caught doing anything wrong does not mean you have not done anything wrong. Older athletes and coaches can teach younger athletes and coaches about life. Every person that is involved in sports has a role they must play and it starts at the top. Take for instance if you see an coach challenging a referee over a call weather it was a good or bad call, does it give the player the right to do the same thing. Some people will say that it is ok for that type of behavior to happen, but this type of action starts a trend and can
Role models are a huge part in how their fans seem themselves. Fans look up to how their role models behave. If athletes are afraid, their fans will be afraid. Demonstrate confidence and leadership, everyone likes a person that’s always happy with their achievements but continues to be better everyday. Never be afraid to be unique, whatever you choose to do in life be proud of the person you have became. Show respect to others. When you listen to your role model or witness their success this can give you a different outlook when trying to solve the problems you’re dealing with. Having a good role model may change your outlook on certain issues, and that may change you entirely. If you chose a good role model who struggled with the same problems that you have had to deal with, or had similar obstacles in their life, then chances are they will provide you with the answers to your problems. Or if nothing else give you a different approach to look at.You will try to
