Central Methodist Education Reflection

The majority of students that enroll into college make the decisions that attending college is better after graduating; they can work in their career field at a younger age, and have a successful future. Most of the students enrolling in college obey their parents’ wishes; all parents want their kids to attend college to get a better education for themselves. Especially, in a society we live in, many jobs require some sort of college degree. Time is money, and the more time you waste, the more money you have to dish out to engage academic pursuit.

By going to college, I'm making the decision to better my future. I will be able to learn and deal with the advances in the upcoming technology that are changing the world. I will be able to adapt to unfamiliar situations and be prepared for the diversity of this world I live in. I will be able to contribute to my community and have the lifelong habits to excel. My motivations for going to college include many things that include stepping out into a bigger world than just my small hometown, also seeing what other opportunities may await me. I will admit it; in high school and for a few years after, I had no interest in attending college. It was my belief people could succeed without a college degree if they worked hard enough. I still wholeheartedly believe that. However, I have come to the realization I am not one of those people.

I have always wanted to go to college. I have always thought that college searching would be hard and expensive, but actually you can find your perfect college that fits your budget. You notice that college is more expensive than you would have thought when you were younger. Everyone has had a dream of what their perfect college would be, but that dream soon changes once you start to do research on colleges.

College for me was never a question. It was more like I had to attend college, but never did I think I would face so many obstacles. I come from a family of five, and we all came to the U.S. to have a better life and to have an opportunity for our education. I am the first one in my family to graduate from high school and to attend college. Attending college right after high school had three main obstacles I had to face such as being the first one to attend college from my family, having some challenging classes, and having to manage my time between school and work.

I would like to attend college to make a statement. When I was in middle school and my freshmen year of high school, I was not the most educated person. I want to go to college to make a career out of my self. I want to make an impact on this world when I grow up.

Many people do not realize how important getting an education is; some people believe that it is not worth the time nor the effort. I am not saying that I am against it, but to me going to college is all I have thought about since I was a child; being able to learn and master a new skill just excites me more than anything. It has also motivated me throughout my whole education, especially since no one in my family has ever attended college: it is like opening a new door for my family since my family and I have been through hard times: my dad died when I was six years old thus leading to the result that my mom had to support me herself. My mom considered this terrible situation as a nightmare. Why? Well first of all she did not attend college and second, her work was pretty much anything that could pay the bills and buy clothes for both of us.

There are many factors that influence people to go to college or not to nowadays. I make this claim because certain people believe that college does not benefit you in the long run. Others would often go to college to excel in learning more knowledge.

Motivation-There is several elements that have developed my motivation to pursue a college degree. First being my drive to have a successful life with struggle, many Americans struggle to succeed without an education. Secondly it is hard to advance in many careers without a degree in the area you are working in, even so sometimes with a degree it is still difficult to improve in a career. Lastly, my family is my strongest motivation to succeed in achieving a college degree so I can support them when I get out of the military.
