I wish to be apart of the National Junior Honors Society because I have always been a determined and hardworking person and being accepted would continue my journey of greatness. In all the activities I have participated in, I don’t ever do it for acknowledgement or respect from others. I do it for my enjoyment and success.

It is within human nature to be competitive. While it is one of the most basic and primal instincts that has ensured our survival for centuries, today has become more for personal achievement. In movies, shows and on the internet we are constantly exposed to people competing for various reason. Athletes compete for the gold medal, game show contestants for money prizes and characters in movies for the object of their affections. When we best the challenges we decide to face, we often receive an overwhelming feeling of success along with the prize and, in turn, our confidence is boosted drastically. We are encourage to become the best versions of ourselves. However, when our attempts end in failure, we feel disappointed in ourselves and are discouraged from pushing ourselves again. In modern times, individuals often lack the motivation to challenge themselves because they fear their odds of failure. They would rather remain apathetic than even attempt to push themselves. It is essential that we have the dedication, fortitude and courage to regain the confidence to at least attempt a challenge or alter it to make it more beneficial to ourselves.

Upon entering English 111 on-line class, I had not taken an English class on-line before. In the past I have taken several other basic classes. English has always been a struggle for me, mainly writing and grammar. Neither, writing or grammar has come natural to me. The biggest challenge for me is putting my thoughts into words.

English 102 is a college level of reading and writing course based on the theme monster. When I started the class, I thought monsters as scary creature in the books and movies. As I progressed in English 102, I found out monsters is more than what I though t is. Monsters can represent the fear of people and society, a problem in a society, something that is keep coming back and coming back(Such as financial crisis), natural hazard and danger. It also can serve as a warning; so, people avoid the same mistakes.

I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society. I believe this because of two things. The first reason is that I get exceptional grades. I try my best to maintain my average over 95. I do not fret when I get a bad grade. Instead I think of it as an opportunity to try even more on the next test or quiz and a chance to learn from my mistakes. The other reason is because I enjoy helping others. I like to help my fellow classmates with their homework if they do not understand it.

This past year, I have been motivated to keep up my grades and work hard because of Adams' National Junior Honor Society program. I have aspired to be in the Society since I read it over the summer on the Adams website. I was so excited when I received this letter because it meant I had a chance at making the program. I want to be in NJHS because it will teach me how to manage my time, organize events, and work with others. Working with others who also value academic success contributes to my will to be in the program. Together, we can help each other grow and thrive in the community. We can also collaborate to help those in our community who aren’t in the position to speak out for themselves. I read about an NJHS group that organized an event where they donated toys to children who are less fortunate. They spoke out in school and changed the lives of many young, unhappy children through the program.

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, UBCJA, is a labor union that advocates for worker rights. Founded in 1881, Peter J. McGuire and Gustav created the union in response to the lack of worker right laws in place. Since then, the union has grown substantially in size but still, lobbies for workers’ rights. The union lobbies for issues on a regional and national level. They have endorsed and contributed finically to presidential candidates. Being a competitive person can be advantageous, as this kind of person wants to be the best in everything. As they want to be the best in everything, they will work and study harder than any other people. They will try as hard as they can to be the best. As a result, they will get good marks on test or get an extremely good job in the future. It is beneficial for them.
