They can learn to get some confidence because confidence is really important in order to perform better. Being an overconfident person is also beneficial, as we won’t get nervous easily and our performances will be better. This kind of person isn’t scared to take some risks as they have trust and confidence in themselves. This kind of person has potential to be a really successful person in the future. I have a friend that is really confident that when he performed for a speech competition at school, he can speak fluently without any hesitation that made him the winner of the competition. We can learn a lot from this kind of person. I learn that correct proportion of something, even the thing we take as something bad, before, can turn into something good. We have to be able to measure how confident we can be while with friends and when the confidence is really needed. Being a competitive person can be advantageous, as this kind of person wants to be the best in everything. As they want to be the best in everything, they will work and study harder than any other people. They will try as hard as they can to be the best. As a result, they will get good marks on test or get an extremely good job in the future. It is beneficial for them. For Example: I know that being a competitive person can be advantageous as I have a friend that is competitive. She is so competitive that in every test, she will study as hard as she can. In every test, she managed to get the best scores
Similarity, friends can have a huge impact on one’s identity. Friends can help you get through things. If a dog dies or parents get divorced you will have friends by your side. Friends can be bad because
It is important to choose the right friends, good friends can take you wherever you want to go in life, and the wrong friends can be a disastrous decision. A quote from The Pact sums this up nicely, “Friendship can lift you up, strengthen and empower you, or break you down, weaken and defeat you.” (32) This is why it is so important to surround yourself with positive people, and
Friendship is one of the most valuable components in life. Friendship has the ability to change lives in a positive way. Friendship changes people’s views on life to a more positive outlook. “True friendship is when someone knows you better than yourself and takes a position in your best interests in a crisis. Friendship goes beyond sharing time together, and it is long lasting.” (Friends.com). As we spend a lot of time with our friends, friendship opens our minds to different ways of viewing the world. Unfortunately, sometimes strong barriers may be placed by those who see two people’s friendship as a threat; since people are influenced by their friends, friendship could make people question what
The concept of friendship and what makes a friendship may seem simple depending on what people look for in friendships. Some people may have friendships that are solely based on pleasure or it is because it is useful to them in their time of need or a friendship that gives the person both pleasure and usefulness. A person may have these types of friendships with different people. Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, brings up what the best kind of friendship is. A long-lasting friendship is the best kind (Aristotle 221). This is an important concept when it comes living a good and ethical life. It is not only important to know why some friendships do not last long, but it may also help a person figure out if the friendship they have with
For fifty years, the first generation of English pilgrims and Indians maintained peace with one other using a peace treaty agreement between Chief Massasoit and the Pilgrims. Thus, if either the Pilgrims or the indians went against the terms of the treaty or disrespected each other in any way, the peaceful relationship would cease. However, as the second generation of English pilgrims emerge, the terms of peace became forgotten. The breakdown of relations between the Indians and the English Pilgrims was caused by the failure of the second generation to maintain the terms of the peace treaty.
This story takes a wide variety of the many stereotypical friends that people meet throughout their lifetime, and gives multiple examples on why we need each of them. The author, Marion Winik, highlights the importance of each different friend with their unique characteristics, and what classifies them as that specific friend. For example, there are “Buddies” who help in many scenarios both big and small; “Relative Friends” are family members that someone finds common grounds with; “Work Friends” are people that get along solely for the fact that they work together; “Faraway Friends” is a person that someone grew up with, but they moved away; “Former Friend” are friends no longer associated with each other; “Friends You Love to Hate” are obnoxiously
"Life without a friend is like death without a witness." -Spanish Proverb. We all have friends, different people have different tastes and temperaments and hence make different types of friends. They tend to bond with some and stay away from some. With time and growing trust, some people get really close to each other and remain true friends. They stand up for each other in times of need and provide full support when you lose confidence in yourself. However, every friend is not the same type. One might have more close friends than acquiantenaces, while others might have more acquaintenaces than close friends, but either way, majority of people that develop great friendships either fall into one of the
In order to get through life, we as humans require a form of partnership. While this could come from a sibling or parent, it commonly occurs in what we refer to as friends. Two friends share a bond of mutual affection that they demonstrate though their actions. This manifestation of companionship is vital to emotional growth. A best friend can also provide emotional support and encouragement in both difficult and successful times. Most, if not all people crave this type of fellowship. In order to select a friend, one must carefully consider a person's character. Therefore, in order to fit the description of a best friend, one must be thoughtful, encouraging, and kind.
Friendship is not simply a "relationship", knowing someone, conversing with that person, or dealing with that person in business, school, or in casual acquaintance. True friendship is not just a "relationship", but self-sacrificing love. A friend is also one who supports, sympathizes, and is a person in whom you can confide. There are unique qualities that a person must have to be considered a friend.
A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example, when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support. There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you, involved in
Imagine your sole confidante, childhood playmate, personal comedian and physiologist disclosing your secrets to a stranger. Unfortunately, this stranger happens to be the person who enforce a form of punishment for the actions that were once a secret. Furthermore, this confidante is considered your friend. Does an instance of this friend disclosing your secret of immoral activities to a person of authority violate the success of the friendship? In fact, this act is not a violation of the laws of friendship. The ideas of friendship are subjective, and thus where you might think your friend’s actions are unjust, your friend is actually looking out for your best interest and security. Also, a good friend would not desire
“The two ladies, who had been intimate since childhood, reflected how little they knew each other”. This is how, author, Edith Wharton shows the relationship of two characters, Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade, in the short story “Roman Fever.” These two women who are supposed to be friends, led envious lives of each other, and because of the way they lived they were very contrasting and conflicting characters. In the end, I believe Mrs. Slade was guiltier for her actions and in fact the whole incident would have never happened if it weren’t for her.
Through my experiences I have come to realize that there are basically three types of friends a person can have. There are friends that I call “sometimes” friends, these people appear to be your friend but only when you are face to face with them, and when you are not around them they act more like a foe. They are often referred to as two faced or a back stabber. These types of friends are not very reliable nor should they be trusted. Another type of friend a person can have, and the best kind, is a “true” friend. A true friend is someone you know you can always trust and rely on no matter what. The last type of friend is the “acquaintance”. These are the type of friends that you do not necessarily hate, but at the same time you do
One of my favorite part of the song Lean On Me by Bill Withers is a “Sometimes in our lives we all have pain we all have sorrow But if we are wise we know that there’s always tomorrow.” In other words, no matter how arduous and challenging life can be, another better opportunity will be given the next day. In life, people should identify the difference between the real friends or fake friends. In addition, the qualities of a good friends are trustworthiness, have good attitude, and last being thoughtful.
A friend plays a very poignant role in a person’s life. There are many characteristics of a good friend. One of those characteristics is loyalty. A person can never be considered a good friend if he or she is not loyal. That’s the reason why a dog is considered to be man’s best friend. A good friend is someone who will remain loyal and stick with us even during bad phase of our life. When a person is strike upon by adversity, disappointment surrounds from all directions and darkness engulf a person’s happy life then only a good friend comes as a ray of hope to illuminate a person’s life and rescue them from being drown in the calamity. For example, during bad times, failure in exams, rejection in job, family problems, break-up; a good friend support us morally, physically and financially and help us to relive
