To some people, changing historical events to make a story different is wrong and should not be done. To others, it makes sense to do so. To me, changing historical events make the story seem unreal, it changes the truth and would get twisted, also it would affect the way the the hero feels towards the person changing the story, or if he is dead, it will affect his kids and family. Swapping up history, or historical events, makes the story seem unreal and some people misconstrue the wrong story for the true story. Adding superfluous information to a story is changing history. It happened the way it happened for a reason. There is no need to changing the story up. When hearing a story from the past, you have to be wary about what
If the story were to be told chronologically, it would not have the novel like feeling of the book and many of the readers would not have been as intrigued to the story.
Have you ever seen “The Patriot”? If you have do you know the truth behind it because some parts really happened and some parts didn’t. Meaning that “The Patriot” is somewhat historically accurate. The Patriot is somewhat historically accurate because the main character Benjamin Martin was not a real person he was based on Francis Marion, the Battle of Cowpens was exactly the same because the colonist had extra help to fight off the British, and the surrender of Colonel Cornwallis was somewhat alike because his army could not get around the French and the colonist in history and in the movie. So “The Patriot” has many differences and similarities to history.
Wednesday, January 6, 2016, North Korea made an announcement that their hydrogen bomb testing was successful, resulting in “raised cries of indignation from the international community”. In the past the U.N had implemented sanctions against North Korea for continuing their development in nuclear weapons in 2006, 2009, 2013. Yet despite this, on Monday March 14, 2016, DPRK Today reported that a fifth test would be run and a new test involving ballistic missiles would also be included. Mr. Jongun had explained that the reason his country is now involving ballistic missiles is “. . . [so that] the warheads [are able] to survive heat and turbulence
Acts of Religious Toleration- 1649, the toleration act made Maryland the second colony after Rhode Island to affirm liberty of worship. It did not protect the Christians nor did it separate church or state. It was passed in 1649.
Have you ever been hesitant to share a true story because you suspected that it would appear as a fabricated anecdote to your audience? Well, most of the time we add bunch of things or change a true story to make it sound genuine to our audience. We live in a judgmental and complex world where lying has become a part of our daily lives. Because of this habit, it is hard to differentiate the truth from a fabricated lie. Since I was a child, my parents always talked about battle of Adwa and many events that took place centuries ago. It is always amusing to listen to those stories because it is about heroic act that most of the kings of Ethiopia accomplished. Although I heard different versions of these stories, I always tend to believe my parents’ version. The reason is not simply the credibility of my parents’, but the way it was presented. According to the short story, “How to Tell a True War Story” by Tim O’ Brien, a true war story is hard to accept as true because some of the most agonizing parts are true, while some of the natural parts are not. Tim O’Brien’s narrative shows that a storyteller has the power to shape listeners’ views. We can change our perception because of the story teller, and neglect the fact that we are avoiding the actuality. Therefore by listening to different versions of a story, it will actually help the reader find greater truth of the story.

Does hollywood make historical movies less of what actually happened just to make them more exciting. The Patriot, a movie about a father going into the revolutionary war. In this star the lead male role Benjamin Martin as in history is based of Andrew Pickens, Francis Marion, Daniel Morgan and Thomas Sumter. He has 7 children but Goes into the war to keep tabs on his oldest son who went in the war without his permission. Through this movie he goes through terrible trials of losing 2 of his sons and facing of to the death with colonel tavington.
Should writers change a historical event ? I am con towards this because we need the truth about the -monuments, and black lives matter movement , plus It's called Lying - future generations will have trouble with truth , show heros in their true colors and not in black and white - seen more human . And it will tell why I think they should not change it .
Race and gender have been a very recurrent topic of discussion in the news nowadays. I have chosen a very recent news event for my current event analysis paper. The Event that I have chosen is centered around gender and racial discrimination. This incident happened recently when a Black doctor - Dr. Tamica Cross faced discrimination due to her gender and race on Delta airlines flight in mid-air . The Reading that I have used to connect to the news event are — “10 Ways racism killed Michael Brown and Eric Garner”by Chauncey Devega, Chapel hill shooting and western media bigotry, “More Black Men are in prison today than Enslaved in 1850”by Dick Price, “Mapping the Margins: Intersectionality, Identity Politics, and Violence against Women of Color”by Kimberle Crenshaw, “The Social Construction of Race’’by Ian F. Haney Lopez. I chose this news event because I was shocked seeing the discrimination faced by someone of a very high reputed profession because of the color of their skin and the gender. The main idea behind my current event analysis paper is that how gender and race discrimination overpowers and discriminates anybody regardless of the profession. The discrimination due to Race and gender should be taken more seriously and their should be qual respect for every Race, Gender as this is the basic to mankind. This paper heads that event that make us realize how gender and race plays an important role in our lives and it goes with us everywhere we go and when it is
Numerous events and people have played a great part in shaping this country of ours into what it is today, the United States of America. Choosing such events or people to talk about is no easy task since there are so many that play a key role in how this country was founded, but the three different ones that will be covered in this paper are George Washington, the Revolutionary War, and finally the Civil War.
Another reason why historical context is important, is so that tragic events in the past do not repeat. When people understand why a tragic event
It was a bright and sunny day on January 11, the day History Day was due. The joyful students boarded the bus looking for a seat. Once everyone has settled down the bus roared to life. and went into the busy line to leave the school. The bus died out an inch from the exit. The students riding the yellow beast started to panic. The 8th graders joking around and screaming about the North Koreans, and dying of thirst. The 6th graders were scared and confused. More and more buses are breaking down at Lower Macungie Middle School. If this continues to happen then the students affected then the students will start to panic, and it affects the student's health and worst case scenario is that someone develops post traumatic stress syndrome. Bus breakdowns
In literature, history is crucial. History is society’s choice of which truth to present to the public as a way of hiding shameful pasts and controlling civilization. The use of history in literature represents how deception of society becomes a cycle of ignorance. Often times in literature, the author alters history to present a new version of the story, regardless of the fact that altering history could change an entire society’s beliefs. Ignorance of personal history provides society the opportunity to live daily lives without the burden of past transgressions weighing them down, but the ignorance comes at a cost of moral destruction. Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and Natasha Tretheway’s Native Guard feature main characters who experience affects of the alteration of history, and in turn these adverse affects destroy their morals. Throughout history, soiled memories hide behind a more polished version of truth, which in turn creates a civilization bound to repeat the errors in ignorance. With the manipulation of history, distorted memories stem from warped versions of the past, which in turn creates a civilization bound to repeat the errors in ignorance.
New Historicism is a really good way to analyze texts and show correlation between ideas and timelines that are in the book. New Historicism is influenced by the author’s circumstances but it is also influenced by beliefs and prejudices. The view that concepts, beliefs, truths, and even standards of truth can be understood only in the relation to the whole moral, intellectual, religious, and aesthetic cultures of the historic periods in which they would begin to arise. A New historicist looks at literature in a more wider and more historical context and they examine how the write affected the work and the work will reflect on the writers time. It recognizes the current cultural contexts that critics have conclusions about. New Historicism was developed around the time of the 1980s by a man that was named Stephen Greenblatt. According to the man that is named Stephen Greenblatt, the role of the New Historicist was to create a more cultural or a more anthropological criticism. Since he has developed new historicism, he began to gain a lot of widespread influence during the decade. Stephen Greenblatt first began to use the term New Historicism in a 1982 production that was called The Power of Forms in the English Renaissance. He uses new historicism when he uses Queen Elizabeth’s “bitter reaction to the revival of Shakespeare’s Richard II on the eve of the Essex rebellion” that was to
