3.1.2 Sarah Lemon
Second character appearances to analyze here is Sarah Lemon (17)–an American teenager, who also reflect a living of American Individualism values. In the beginning of the story, it mentioned in the text, “Sarah Lemon is one of those voices.” (2012:3) Also, assumed as one of the representatives where the word ‘voices’ could be implied self-expression and freedom to pour ideas. Sarah’s journey in life is relatively new to compare with Victor who lived longer. But the point is both of them are in the same categorized regard to the value of Individualism, and the difference is depending on the context to achieve goals that they chase. Relate with that, education became the dominant thing to learned and determine result of how she behaves to herself, family and society.

Angry or upset are the emotion that could trigger a mental breakdown, or stress out overly. What is happen next to Sarah is one of broken home effects. Here is the thing that no one understands, the fragile Sarah thoughts that world is end after knowing several student point her name and speak words that hurt her pride. She never went to school or gets out from her bedroom for a week and using same black t-shirt. Lorraine worries about her, but she unable to reach her like do not how to act freely. At the night of New Year’s Eve, Sarah refused any event to go out, while Lorraine left her alone to the widow’s club party. Unbelievably, those have no communication at all increase depression to the next level, as basic human need interaction to share opinion. Solve the problem alone only caught little chances to do the right thing. Therefore, at the same night where Victor going to process himself to be immortal, Sarah is walking to the garage holding the vodka bottle. She starts the car engine and push the gas pedal until pollute cover
Everybody changes throughout life, either it from being around certain people, having people persuade you into doing something, or by seeing a certain event happen. Everyone goes through a type of change that can make a big difference in their life. I argue that people in the play “Witness” by Karen Hesse can change from being around others because Sara Chickering changed from being around the Hirsh’s, Viola ended up joining the KKK because of her husband pressuring her to, and Merlin by seeing Leanora saving Ester.
It is often considered that outward appearance will be the first thing notice when establishing a first impression of you, but some may beg to differ. When evaluating the impression someone has left on someone else, it is important to note the personality of said person and how they present themselves; what tone of voice they’ve used towards another individual. Sarah in the Heretic’s Daughter begins by presenting herself in a way which many people dislike and find to be rather annoying, but as the novel evolves, so does she. In the Heretic’s Daughter, Kathleen Kent establishes a sensitive, yet dramatic and opinionated character through characterization and tone in her vivid word choice to create the character of Sarah and allow you to see her evolve as the novel plays out.
In the short story “Choices” by Susan Kerslake and in the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, are two examples of literature which are similar to my experience.
Acceptance is not necessarily forgetting, but remembering and forgiving in order to move on. When Julia learned to accept and forgive her past, she is able to carry on with her life. Equally important, Julia in Sarah's Key written by Tatiana De Rosnay, goes through some difficult times, which made it difficult for her to embrace the situations. In this novel, Julia is described and seen as a character with much acceptance. She remembers and always forgives in order to live a life without any grudges. Sarah is a character described as brave but unaccepting she refuses to forget or in this matter to forgive and move on. Her pain that she accumulated when she found her brother dead in the cupboard is a part
Approaching the topic of how war stories should not be moral, O’Brien brings an interesting point to the novel by introducing Curt Lemon as a character who died in a pointless manner. As described by O’Brien in his short story, Curt Lemon is a young and free-spirited soldier in Vietnam whose life ends in an extremely sudden and horrific way when he accidentally steps on a rigged mortar round. Through the analysis of sentence structure in The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien, one can find that Curt Lemon’s character demonstrates the carelessness that many soldiers in Vietnam displayed.
After reading Mr.Lemoncello's by Chris Grabenstein , I have learned that kyle is a dynamic character. “I jolted awake. My sheets were soaked through with sweat, blood, and the foul-smelling black substance that marked a victim of yellow fever. Yellow fever,” despite her desperate cries for mercy, yellow fever struck young Matilda Cook with its evil hand, along with thousands of other unfortunate victims. An unpredictable future haunted the families of Philadelphia as this unbearable sickness slithered in between their homes. In the novel Fever, Laurie Halse Anderson described the fictional epidemic that occurred in 1793 to the citizens of Pennsylvania. She passionately painted the picture with blended colors of pain, perseverance, and hope. Despite unbearable pain, the protagonist pressed on with strength and hope. While her character certainly deserves admiration, Matilda Cook is not the only strong character in this story, her friends Eliza and Nathaniel share some of her inspiring traits as well as some of their own.

1. Who is the protagonist in Jacobs' work (I'm looking for just a specific name)? Linda Brent (the alias that Harriet Jacobs used for the character that represented herself) 2. Who is the antagonist in Jacobs' work (this is open to interpretation and will require explanation)?
The girl’s inner characterization resembles a coming of age character. She develops because of the action and her traits as a child are presented in contrast with her traits as a teenager. This contrast is emphasized using the third-person narrator at the beginning of
At a young age the odds were already against these two characters given many obstacles whether it be consonant to race or financial stance. Although Victor’s obstacles are much different than the ones that the son will be facing and has faced, both pieces come together to uncover the struggles these characters have faced, but that what is more important is how these two characters overcome it. “I was always falling down; my Indian name was Junior Falls Down” (Alexie). The names that Victor is being called by his classmates represents how much he stood out in the eyes of the other students and that because of his skin color he was seen less than the same when compared with rest of them, even at a young age. But, despite the way these other students picked on Victor he still went on to show them how he was more than the names they were calling him. In the end Victor came out triumphant against his classmates. “ tacks, splinters, boards torn up, and places with no carpets on the floor” (Hughes 3-6). Alike to Victor the mother has had obstacles that she has had to fight since the beginning of her journey through life like the absence of a father in her child's life and never being financially adequate, but she goes on to tell her son that obstacles as difficult as these should not
Little Miss Sunshine is a comedy movie about a seven year old girl named Olive who aspires to win the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. To help make her wish come true, her six-member family takes a road trip from Albuquerque to Redondo Beach, California. At the conclusion of the film, Olive and her family learned to trust and support each other, no matter the situation. Olive is the youngest member of her family who is entering middle childhood and adolescence just like her older brother Dwayne. Olive is the type of girl that is cheerful, most of the time and not particularly the kind you would see in a pageant. Olive’s brother, Dwayne, could be described as “emo”. Although he claims that he hates his family, he loves his sister, Olive. Their parents, Richard and Sheryl, and their Uncle Frank are in the process of entering middle adulthood. Throughout most of the film, Richard is considered selfish because he does not want his family to be seen as “losers”. Richard is obnoxious to his family, but he still means well and wants them to succeed. Sheryl is the normal member of the family who does not tolerate anyone's antics. Uncle Frank is very sarcastic and failed at his attempt to commit suicide. He used to be a college professor, so he is considered the smart guy. The sixth member of Olive’s family, her grandpa, dies during the movie due to an overdose, but was entering the late adulthood stage. The members of Olive’s family share some similarities and differences, but since they all vary in age, developmental concepts will be different in a way for each family member.
