In The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mich Albon, the protagonist is a man in Eddie. His left leg has a bullet stuck under the knee from the war times, which left Eddie limping. At the beginning of the book Eddie suffers death from a falling roller coaster at age 83, trying to save a little girl. Soon enough, Eddie find himself in heaven, unsure of what to do next. He soon learns that you meet five people in heaven, which you, or they, have affected in some way. Each of the five people has a lesson to teach Eddie, and to let him know that his life wasn't a waste. In the following, I will discuss of a quote from a lesson, and what significance it has to Eddie. The first person Eddie meets in heaven is the blue man. He first met him
The title of the book is The Five People You Meet in Heaven written by Mitch Albon. The genre of the book is philosophical fiction meaning, you have beliefs about many things for instance in this book it’s god. It starts out at an amusement park on Ruby Pier but, as the book moves along and after Eddie dies there are multiple settings which are in each place of the five people he meets. The novel in a brief summary is as follows. He ends up dying trying to save a little girl on a hanging roller coaster and as soon as he makes contact with the little girl everything just crashes on top of poor Eddie. Then, he ends up going to five different places in heaven each place meeting a new person. The five people are the Blue Man, the Captain, Ruby, Marguerite (his wife who died due to sickness), and finally Tala (the girl who Eddie tried to save at Ruby pier). Eddie ends up learning many lessons and what the true meaning of life and love really is.
According to "The Five People You Meet in Heaven", Eddie stated a quote that impacted me due to its vast quantities of meanings behind the words he had said to Tala, the fifth person Eddie meets. He deeply said, "I was sad because I didn't do anything with my life. I was nothing. I accomplished nothing. I was lost. I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there." The reason this quote impacted me was mainly because at one point in my life, I felt that I had accomplished nothing from my hard work. For example, if I passed a test or quiz with an excellent grade, I did feel joyful and exhilarated, but at the same time, I felt that I could do better. Whenever I was required to study for anything, I sometimes over exaggerated the circumstances and situation that I needed to deal with, so I decided to study for a large amount of time, which became unhealthy and unsanitary for me. Many people in the world, however, struggle and continue with their lives with a wide variety of conflicts. Moreover, some citizens always think negatively about every situation, and they end up harming themselves at the end. This is known as pessimism, and it is largely increasing. This is a factor that came to my mind when I read this quote. Around the world, teens and adults tend to think that they have not accomplished anything, which may, in fact, be caused by an endless count of reasons. Domestic abuse, lack of care, no love, and hatred are some of the countless reasons of why humans feel like they don’t belong in this world or have achieved nothing at all. This list could not be made if I haven’t read Eddie’s quote.
There are simple things in life that could mean something so important, yet our society doesn’t seem to notice it. Well, in this novel, it is the perfect example of that. Throughout the book, The Five You Meet In Heaven, an eye catching quote was stated. The author Mitch Albom mentions, “Nothing important. No bank statements. No insurance policies. Just a black bow tie, a Chinese restaurant menu, an old deck of cards, a letter with an army medal, and a faded Polaroid of a man by a birthday cake, surrounded by children.” Each of those items represent an important character in the novel. For some background knowledge, The Five People you Meet in Heaven is a novel written by Mitch Albom. The story is based upon the main character who is an old man named Eddie and has worked on the Ruby Pier all his life. His life comes to an end when he tries to save a little girl from a collapsed cart of a ride, but the cart lands on Eddie and kills him. Eddie then arrives in heaven and travels through five different environments to learn lessons from five different people. These five people were important in his life. Everything works out in the end and he is reunited with his one true love, Marguerite, at the pier with lovely children galloping all around. So from that quote and reading this inspiring novel, conclusions can be made of who represents each item. These objects symbolize important moments that have happened in Eddie’s life.
Imagine a four year old, who moves across the pacific to an allegedly heaven-like place expecting to find a better life, but soon comes to find that things are not as carefree as her parents told her. Young Ju, the protagonist in An Na’s novel “A Step From Heaven” is that four year old. Hopeful to start a better life in a place she sees as heaven, she is let down by the realities of the world around her as she is torn apart by her parents abusive and toxic relationship. How can one lead a successful life with such a challenge? A normal individual would have trouble adapting, however Young Ju grows and changes throughout the story to overcome various challenges that she faces.
Many people share their life experiences with a written form of self expression. The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom shares the life story of a man named Eddie, who worked at an amusement work his entire adult life, following his dad's footsteps. Eddie lost his life by saving a girl and pushing her out of the way her. He meets five important people that he did not know would change his life forever. Eddie’s dissatisfaction with working at the amusement park proves that he was put there for a reason, illustrating the theme that you should not take life for granted.
Upon hearing this Eddie feels awful and asks why the blue man died instead of Eddie. The blue man assures him that it was okay and that everything happens for a reason. “There are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind” (Albom, 48). This was the first lesson for Eddie. That everything happens for a reason and that no life is a waste. “No life is a waste, the only time we waste is the time we spend thinking that we are alone.” (50)
People influence others and they go off and influence someone else like an endless cycle full of different stories with people who’ve gone through different things and yet those stories are all linked together somehow and when one chapter ends another chapter starts because their story is not finished, if anything it is just the beginning and that’s what Eddie learned when it was his time to leave earth and start his new beginning in heaven. The novel,The Five People You Meet in Heaven, written by Mitch Album is about the five people Eddie meet in heaven and what impact they made in his life even when he didn’t even know it, the novel ends with Eddie and his wife Marguerite in each other’s arms with God saying “home”. The novel has a very prominent message that heaven isn’t where you go to forget the problems you’ve had on earth but help you understand those problems, while

In the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven, the word choice can relate to character. Word choice i found for character was, “Then he took a small wad of bills from his pocket and removed the only twenties he had… get your wife something new,” this makes Eddie a nice person. Another word choice i found was “Around and around the table they go, to their mother’s delight, as the clarinets lead the radio melody and the Romanian cousins clap around the final wisps of grilled steak evaporate into the party air.” that word choice making Eddie’s family close to one another because they celebrate together. There can also be word choice for setting. Word choice i found for setting was, “misty pumpkin shade. This making the story at that time when

During the end of his career in the military Eddy was on a mission to burn down some huts. The orders were followed and as he was watching the last hut burn he saw a shadow dart across the door that entered the hut. He sat there and heard bomber planes getting closer and closer to his location but he kept seeing the shadow dart all over the hut. He told his captain that there was someone in the hut and insisted on going in there and saving who was ever in there as he went to run in the hut his caption shot him in the leg and saved him from the fire and the bomber

For this assignment, I chose to read “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”, a book written by one of my favorite authors, Mitch Albom. The story follows the life and death of an older maintenance worker, Eddie. The book begins as if it is a normal day for Eddie, minus the fact that it his birthday. Eddie wakes up and goes to work at the amusement park Ruby Pier, a position that he has always held and a position that was also held by his father for a great number of years. In Eddie’s effort to save a little girl from being trapped and killed by a falling amusement park ride, Eddie is consequently killed.
