1. Who are the most important characters? Identify the protagonist/antagonist/ Write down important information and characteristics about each one.

Climate change is the most significant, most revisited, most controversial, most discussed climate issue in modern history. Global warming serves as a glaring demerit on the lengthy list of accomplishments of mankind: a reminder that progress coupled with reckless abandon never has a good outcome. Though its presence in the national spotlight is a recent phenomenon, the early stages of global warming were detected centuries ago.

In Part 2 of the book Field Notes from a Catastrophe, Man, Nature and Climate Change, author Elizabeth Kolbert presents global warming from the perspective that we can learn from the past.

Some of the most important characters are Doug Swieteck, Lillian Spicer, Mrs. Windermere, Chris Swieteck and Lucas Swieteck. Doug Swieteck is a 13 year old boy who moved with his troubled family to Marysville’s New York. His family consists of his mom and dad, middle brother Chris and older brother Lucas. His father is an alcoholic with a negative attitude about life. His older brother is a Viet Nam vet who lost his legs in the war. His other brother Chris is showing criminal behavior in their community. Doug

Randy Wagstaff, one of these four main characters, is an eighth-grade student at Edward Tilghman Middle School. He is well known amongst his peers for his imagination and ideas. With a business mind and a charismatic personality, Randy runs a small business selling snacks and soft drinks at school and to neighborhood drug dealers.

We are introduced to Clint, Lucy, and Wade. Clint has a huge crush on Lucy, but her boyfriend Wade keeps getting in the way. None of the characters are likable except the main character, but he is so bland and uninteresting. Lucy is the typical love interest and Wade is the typical asshole boyfriend while the rest of the characters are just there. Clint begins to teach his first class and a sick girl takes a chomp out of another boy’s face.

When you hear the words “climate change” what comes to mind? Probably weather and the changes. Many of us watch the news or use an app on our cellphones/electronic devices to keep an eye on the weather for the day, week, or even the month. But, there is actually a difference between weather and climate. Weather is actually “the changes we see and feel outside from day to day. It might rain one day and be sunny the next. Weather also changes from place to place” (Dunbar, 2014). Whereas “climate is the usual weather of a place. Climate can be different for different seasons. Throughout this week’s discussion I was able to. Since my topic was on characterization I was able to gather how visualize how characters were feeling and what type of personality they have. One of my questions this week was “How does Amy and Nicks character roles differ in the story (protagonist, antagonist, static. etc.)?” I was able to reflect that Nick was the protagonist and Amy was the antagonist due to what I was read so far Nick is sweet and is forced to seem like the bad guy because his Wife Amy who I think is the Antagonist/ villain in this case

then the guards pull their guns out and point them at Andy Because he crossed the line. Hadley grabs Andy by the collar and drags him over to the edge of the roof and is about to throw him off when Andy offers him a solution to his money problem. Andy tells Hadley that he can take care of his problem if he buys him and his coworkers a couple of beers each.

In this research paper, I will discuss what climate change is and what causes it. I will also describe how the political and scientific communities differ on the topic. Next, I will discuss the causal chain of climate change starting with the Industrial Revolution until today. After that I will cover the differing beliefs of Democrats and Republicans, and what each party is doing in regards to climate change. Lastly, I will cover what is being done by businesses, governments, and individuals in the world to combat climate change, and provide possible solutions, including the use of renewable energies to solve this problem.
