Ancient Egypt was a very well organized civilization. This can be seen through the many factors depicting a true civilization. Government is a grave part of a civilization, an “object” greatly shown in Egyptian lives. A Pharaoh was a big part in the Egyptian’s government he* would dictate all the laws. The Pharaoh was at the highest rank in society and said to be the people’s way to their gods and goddesses. Therefore they held the biggest say in the government. In the monarchy** there were Viziers who were the highest in rankings in the realm of Overseer/ruler of a given area of land. There were also severe punishments for severe crimes. If an Egyptian was to raid a Pharoah’s tomb he would be punished and sentenced for 6 months in jail. According to Reshafim.org, “Armed with staffs, policemen guarded public places, at times making use of dogs or, probably more rarely, of trained monkeys.(1)” The Egyptian police investigated complaints carried out by the monarchy, this way the people that were at the incident and found it ungodly could contribute to the solution. In Egypt Justice was represented by Maat, a goddess of World Order. The Pharaohs were like living gods and were the source and executor of justice. The viziers, who exchanged the king as the chief justice, were called Priest of Maat. Meaning they helped justice be shown in Egypt to make it a place. This shows how much time and effort Egyptians put to keep Egypt well ruled and safe for all the people of the land.
