Charles Darwin is one of the most persuasive scientists of all time and he has discovered many things that still affect our society today. One of his most influential discoveries was the theory of evolution. The theory of evolution is “the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits” (Than). This is based upon natural selection and mutations that challenge organisms to grow and reproduce to increase their population. Since this theory was discovered in 1836, here have been many modern translations of what the theory would actually mean. Creationism is the belief that the universe and organisms were created instead of organisms being evolved. Many people, like creationists, still discredit his theory due to lack of evidence, but scientists are starting to find more and more information about early animals that help scientists see how much they have evolved. Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution still affects the world today with its controversy between teaching creationism or evolution in schools. The theory of evolution was first brought to light by Darwin in his book “On the Origin of Species By Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle Life” in 1859. Darwin explained how humans fit into nature and how natural selection fits with evolution.
