I have heard about Chief Red Cloud before, but I didn’t know very much about him prior to looking at your presentation. Being from Nebraska I find in very interesting that a famous Native American chief that many people know about was born here. What an accomplishment for Chief Red Cloud to lead the most successful war against the US army. Chief Red Cloud knew what he was doing in the war and when he forced the US to sign the Treaty of Fort Laramie. Great job on your presentation and the use of pictures were a great addition to what you were discussing.
George Armstrong Custer was a United States cavalry officer who served with distinction in the American Civil War and was the youngest ever brevet brigadier general at age twenty-three (History.com Staff, 2009). Custer had various disciplinary issues throughout his career ranging from abandoning his post for romantic reasons to leaving the field without searching for a slain reconnaissance unit (History.com Staff, 2009). His expedition in 1874 that led to the discovery of gold, was in violation of the treaty of 1868 wherein the Black Hills were recognized to belong to the Sioux Nation. Custer was known to have a reckless temperament and was often at odds with superior officers. Nevertheless, as a Lieutenant Colonel assigned to the Seventh Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Riley, Kansas, Custer was tasked to lead the force against Sitting Bull’s alliance (History.com Staff, 2009).
The attack began. Soldiers fired huge guns at the walls of Vera Cruz. One of the men at the guns happened to be Robert's brother, Smith Lee. When he could, Lee went to stand by his brother's gun. "I could see his white teeth through all the smoke of the fire"1 Lee said, in a letter to Mary. The Mexicans soon gave up Vera Cruz. General Scott thanked Lee for his work. Now the Army could move on to the Mexican capital. The march to Mexico City wo!uld be hard. General Scott asked Lee to find the best way to go. And he asked him to see what Santa Anna, the Mexican general, was doing. To get news for Scott, Lee went behind the lines of enemy soldiers. This was dangerous work. Once when Lee was behind enemy lines he heard voices. Mexican soldiers were coming to drink at a spring. Lee jumped under a log. More Mexicans came. They sat on the log and talked. Lee had to hide there until dark. Lee found out many things for Scott. Once he even found a secret road for the army. He was extremely brave. At Cerro Gordo he led the first line of men into battle. The Americans won. Lee then wrote to his son, Custis, "You have no idea what a horrible sight a field of battle is."2 Then came the biggest battle of the war. The Americans attacked a fort outside Mexico City. Lee planned the attack. For days he worked without sleep. He found out where the Mexican soldiers were. He knew where to put the big guns. It was e!asy for the Army to take the fort. The

In “A Red Record” Ida speak of while in slavery, individuals were reflected as property and for that reason they were a kind of investment that ensured their lives while treated as unhuman. While after slavery ended these people were cruelly murdered. Wells lost a number of friends to lynching and so her urge became telling the country about all of these terrible happenings that she knew of. She published several articles discussing the killings of her friends. That was not the safest path to choose; soon after she began writing, she started to receive threats and, her newspaper office was destroyed by a mob. After she remained an active writer and also becoming a speaker for the rest of her life, helping to found the NAACP and publishing articles
It was men like this which made the Battle of the Alamo so memorable. Although all of the soldiers fighting in the soldiers fighting in the revolution were putting their lives at risk, these men went beyond that when they marched to what would be their deaths. Travis was also well aware of the sacrifice he was about to make. In what was to be his final letter, he again asked for reinforcements. He described the thousands of Mexican soldiers that were coming in and wrote that without reinforcements, he had no vision of winning this battle, instead,

These examples show us so much insight into the real Valley Forge. They show us the brutal conditions of the lives of these poor men who deserved better. The sacrifices that they made were tremendous and often a matter of life and death, before any shots were fired. Again, if it were my decision, I would have strayed from Valley Forge. The thought of leaving my family and the possibility of death before battle would not have been worth the
The author does a great job on describing the journey to and from Valley Forge, and why they were there in the first place

The Battle of the Alamo was fought by many valiant people, but the most inspirational of them all would have to be Colonel James Bowie. It is well known that he fell ill during the battle, but his earier actions spurred the Texans fight. As a colonel, the Texans looked up to him as a leader. During the final battle, the colonel still tried to fight along side his people. He was near death and he was drenched in perspiration, but that
The video thoroughly went over the entire story of the battle and its history. There were also many useful maps, explanations, and artifacts. The artifacts such as the bullets, cannon balls, weapons, supplies and uniforms are very cool to observe.

SGM Frank Grippe is my modern day hero because as a young soldier I looked up to him because he was the one who took me in and mentored me to be the person I am today. SGM Grippe during Afghanistan in Operation Anaconda took his guys into combat and brought us all back many was injured but we didn’t lose anyone. We fought off God knows how many repeated attacks, did a lot of killing during a long night and endless day and night against al-Qaida who was trying to kill us with mortars and sniper fire in that icy windblown mountains. What kept us going was the feeling that we weren’t going to be put down by anybody. We were 1/87. Grippe’s battalion. SGM Grippe told us the night before we have been training
