Child Advocacy Center development has been closely related to the approaches we have been introduced to in this course. Creating protocols for community impact, sustainability and growth have all occurred as this Child Advocacy has developed in my community. In my work it is very important to keep the families and victims we serve at the forefront of our decision making. Each policy, program and renovation is made with how it will impact the families we serve over how it will benefit us. Our program has followed the Principles of Good Practice at times and failed to follow them also. Each program/project has a little of this I believe. In this paper, I will go through each principle and identify how the CAC program has met the standard or identify

An increase in baby booming makes it tougher for working parents to find daycare. The facts prove that having children come with a true price. Even so it doesn’t change the issues of finding child care or makes them go away. When parents work, quality child care is a necessity. And it does not come cheap. For families with more than one child, child care can eat up one salary, leaving parents wondering both working is worth it. When thinking of child care there are some options to consider like choosing a child care center, the costs of child care centers, and waiting lists.

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a strength-based agency that works with several different types of families and situations. The department works diligently to ensure that children are protected from neglect and/or abuse. As an intern at the Cape and island’s office, a majority of our cases involve substance use issues. When parents are using substances, this is a form of neglect as well as abuse depending on the scenario. One particular case of mine came to the attention of the department when a mother overdosed on Percocet’s and heroin with her child present. The child was 3 months old, alleging neglect from the mother. The department also charged father with alleging neglect as well since father denied mother having an
Georgia experienced 17,148 children in the foster care system during the year of 2015 (Adopt US Kids , 2016). Children engaged in the foster care system are far more susceptible to a disruption in their biopsychosocial development. One of the leading indicators for older age youth successfully transitioning out of foster care is graduating high school. Foster youth success in school can be impacted by their foster care placement. This paper will explore the intended impact and actual impact of the qualifications for becoming a foster parent. Also, it is my intent to discuss how the Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act of 2011 can enhance the foster care service delivery model. Identifying the gaps in foster care licensing policy is a preventative step in reducing youth risk factors for education neglect resulting in high school dropout. Research has shown that youth in the foster care system at an alarming rate are transferring from foster care to the penal system. It is my intention to advocate for safe foster care placements that supports the education needs of the youth.
