In the film Der Untergang, there is a scene in which depicts a young German boy fighting alongside Hitler’s Youth. His father, who himself is missing an arm from combat, scolds the other children for fighting. In a desperate plee, the father calls for his son to return home but instead, the son runs off into the distance. This scene was symbolic as it captured the vulnerabilities children are prone to, especially during times of war. Second, the context of this political turmoil, closely ties into the tendency for the global community to neglect these concerns until it is in a state of direct crisis. It can be seen throughout history that children are often abused and manipulated to meet the militarized or political agenda. Because of this …show more content…
Fluent refers to the ability to adapt, function, and be a positive actor in society. This is especially crucial in children, who from a young age adopt ideas and learn norms. Children are often also recruited through means of manipulation(cite). Lack of responsible parenting or guardianship of any kind, allows others to take advantage of their fresh state of mind and shape it in accordance to their own beliefs. This can be seen with Palestinian children who are groomed from a young age to accept such standards(cite). Another well known example would be Hitler’s Youth, who capitalized on the idea of grooming children to adopt an ideology in order for the next generation to grow within this frame(cite). This advances political agendas. When reviewing the rights given to children, they are also far more likely to face exploitation. This can be seen through a state being too controlling or not recognizing this body of people, as legitimate. This can be seen in several states globally. However to tie this idea to somewhere more relatable, a debate currently in the United States argues the age a child should be allowed to act as their own guardian. This is relevant as basic rights such as housing or education, stem from this right. So in other countries which do not recognize these qualities in children and do not have the institutions to protect them, they are prone to being manipulated. If a society is raised in a state of chaos and violence, the state itself will become
Child soldiers being used around the world related to interventionism which is a policy of non-defensive activity undertaken by a national, state, or political jurisdiction to manipulate an economy or society. This is the case because nations liek the United States are aware of what is going on and are trying to stop nations from recruiting child soldiers. People around globe are trying to stop this from happening since they understand that thesekids arebeing turned into ruthless, emotionless, and dangerous individiuals as opposed to growing and learning as they should.
Political strife has been always present on an international scale with surges of civil war due to government overthrow, sending nations into unrest. Although not common recently, the ideology of recruiting child soldiers still remains, and the lasting effects on the children are traumatizing. From witnessing the carnage of constant bombshells erupting in the distance to whole families being executed, the images are etched deep into their minds, haunting them even after they are discharged from the armies. Although putting an immediate end to child soldiers is unrealistic, the United States should aid in creating and training members of war-affected countries to run long-lasting Rehabilitation centers due to the unqualified and ineffective
For years the use of children in both conflict between states and civil war has been evident, children are being forced by bad people and throughout their false promises. Even this getting too far people don’t know what to do they’re afraid to defend themselves because they know what the commanders could do to them. They think they don’t have a way out. And even the parents are giving out their own children because they
Recently, two million children have died over the past ten years due to becoming a child soldier. A huge deplorable development that has extended recently is the increase of child soldiers. Children are constantly being used as soldiers for various reasons. In some countries, there are more child soldiers than they are adults because children are more compliant. Children have been exploited as soldiers because they are being recruited to do a violent action, it is difficult for them to, later on, assimilate back to their lives, and child soldiers are regularly used in developing countries.
The article “ The Perfect Weapon for the Meanest Wars,” by Jeffrey Gettleman discusses the issue of child soldiers, children who are used during the war. He explains that the idea of the child soldier is spreading. In these places rebels are taking control without caring and using population as prey. The authors message in the article is that adults are manipulating children and using them as weapons for their own needs. Jeffrey Gettleman uses cause and effects, the principle of causation, throughout article.
Suicide bombers, rebel groups, minefield clearers, and soldiers are words used to describe these children in a terrible situation. In places like Afghanistan, Iran, and Guantanamo Bay children as young as 5 years old are apprehended from their families, and are taken to army camps to fight against the U.S-backed government. These children are so innocent, but many think that they need to be arrested for what they are doing. Instead of playing on a playground with their families they are brainwashed, drugged, forced to kill, and poisoned with alcoholic beverages.
Children all across world are being exploited as child soldiers. Everyday kids younger the age of 10 are putting their lives on the line mostly by force. ¨Over the last ten years, two million children have been killed in conflict. Over one million have been orphaned, over six million have been seriously injured or permanently disabled and over ten million have been left with serious psychological trauma.¨(Children In Conflict). A child soldier is a child with armed forces; they’re trained to fight, cook, be porters, messengers, informant spies, etc. Countries all across the world have been using children to fight, places like the United Kingdom, Africa, and Asia lean on children to do their dirty work regardless of what laws are put into place for recruitment age.
Many children in America do not consider the problem of child soldiers happening around the world today as an issue, and many do not even think about it. Child Soldiers are a continuous problem that should be stopped instantly. Child Soldiers are innocent children who are forced into armed forces and non- state armed groups. Today, there are approximately 300,000 child soldiers in war, and 40% of armed forces are using these children as soldiers. These children are helpless and have little to no choice to go into war and leave their family behind.
This essay will look into children becoming vulnerable and who could be responsible for failing the children. Also how government acts only come into place when big failures
Children in US are perceived as the next generation, the future per say. We have multiple laws across the country to punish many ways of what we call is child abuse. While some may argue more could be done, I feel the intention to protect the children in this country is not questionable for most people. While reading these articles about children soldiers, one thing is clear: poverty and education seems to be the common ground why children are either forced, or willingly join an army.
Worldwide, the use of child soldiers is a huge issue. Today, there are over 300,000 child soldiers worldwide. Every one of these soldiers are heavily armed and dangerous. They have been becoming a threat to America and the world. No matter their age, they have done terrible thing in behalf of terrible causes. Even as America continues to bring these kids to back in hope to rescue them, most if not all attempts to civilize them have failed. These kids have been swindled, drugged and brainwashed. There is simply no hope for them to return to their right mind.
Greater attention and action against the worldwide use of child soldiers need to be addressed by the world community because children are being forced out of their homes, traumatized by all of the killings and dying surrounding them and they are being starved and beaten. Today, there are thousands of children involved in these armed jobs all around the world. There is an estimated 3,000 children, many under 16, including 500 girls in the army. (“Child Soldiers”)
Today, Human right groups estimate that there are at least if not more than 300,000 child soldiers worldwide. In poorer countries, there are more child soldiers because they fight of land, minerals and drugs. Even though the kids are the perfect weapons for these civil wars in poorer countries, because they are easily manipulated, extremely loyal, fearless and most importantly endless supply; there should not be kids fighting for their country unless they are 18 because of the physical and psychological problems.
Throughout the world children younger than 18 are being enlisted into the armed forces to fight while suffering through multiple abuses from their commanders. Children living in areas and countries that are at war are
Child abuse is a complex phenomenon with multiple causes and occurs in a range of situations and circumstances. Children are abused by people in a position of power above them. Child abuse is nothing but the oppression of the weak by the powerful. Children are weaker physically than their oppressors and so can be overpowered easily. If they are bold enough to raise their voice they are subjugated
