Christina Rossetti was a Victorian poet that is seen as, “one of the most important of English women poets both in range and quality” (Britannica.org). Her religion was especially important to her, a High Church Anglican. She devoted her life to her religion, and she even broke off an engagement because the man she had planned to marry became a Roman Catholic. However, in 1871 Rossetti [contracted] Graves’ disease. The illness was life threatening, but she still continued to write poetry through her faith. After she had lived with the disease for a while, her works started to shift towards devotional prose writings. Frida Kahlo was a very talented Mexican artist that revolutionized art at a very young age. Her work is still idolized and celebrated today and is studied by many artists, institutes of higher education, museums, and fans. Kahlo was born in the town of Coyoacan, Mexico on July the sixth in the year of 1907 (Kettenmann 3). She made around 143 paintings, and out of those 143 paintings, 55 were self-portraits that included symbolism of her physical and emotion pain. Bertens describes female stereotypes to come under four labels “an immoral and dangerous seductress, the woman as the eternally dissatisfied shrew, the woman as cute but essentially helpless, the woman as unworldly, self-sacrificing angel and so on.” These labels were commonly found in both androtexts and gynotexts as feminist criticism’s attention drew towards female writers by giving them more prominence and esteem, yet they were found to both reject the traditional female form and “succumbed to the lure of stereotypical representations.” Christina Rossetti was one who was found to come under such scrutiny with her poems ‘Maude Clare’, ‘No, Thank You John’, and ‘In an Artist’s Studio’ to convey differing constructions of women.

She was a spy, scout, and nurse. Thats a lot of jobs, isn't it? She worked very hard to stop slavery. If she didn’t do what she did, we would still have slavery and be back to our selfless ways and not think about others felt.
