Christmas : My Favorite Time Of The Year

Christmas in Toronto was my favorite time of the year. The night sky was always illuminated by lit windows of skyscraper offices and the blindingly bright lights of hotel signs, but during the holidays the festive displays are unmatched. Bright red poinsettias cover every inch of the Centennial Park Conservatory, the bridges of the Waterfront, lined with thousands of kaleidoscopic LED lights, and of course the radiance of the Christmas Tree in Nathan Phillips Square, producing a city of colored spectacle and incandescence. My absolute favorite part, however, was walking through the Christmas Market. Until an unfamiliar gentleman begins walking toward the front of the room. He’s tall, about six foot with the build of a basketball player—slim but fit. His skin is the color of chestnut, dark brown freckles extend the diameter of his face, and he flashes an adorably crooked smile once our eyes finally meet.
“Looking for a Brian Littrell to your Nick Carter?” He says in a voice fitting of his physique.
“Oh, you can be anyone you like.” I say in an unhealthy state of tipsy, only reassured by the unlikelihood I’d remember anything in the morning. He seems amused as well, acceding to my lack of tact with a chuckle and a high five. The song begins.
“Tough crowd,” I say as we make our way to the bar. “They’re probably NSYNC fans.”
“Likely.” Adam responds.
“They are the superior boy group.”
“Wow. You’re welcome to your wrong opinions I guess, but I have to say I’m disappointed.”
“Well, I’m sure I’ll manage.”
Rude.
“Say, it’s not too often I share a song with some before a conversation, I’m Autumn by way.”
“Ah, Autumn. We meet alas. You look a bit different from your pictures… I’m sure you’ve heard of me, I’m Adam.”
“Adam, yes of course. Nice to finally meet you! Thanks for saving me up there, I was this close to no return”
“Brian kind of forced me to… but good times though. You’re not an awful singer.”
“Oh. Well, I’m happy you enjoyed yourself I guess... Back to this NSYNC thing, it doesn’t bother you that JT was totally and unapologetically
