Investment Objective
Our investment objective is to seek an abnormal profit in 3 weeks trading period with minimal risk, to achieve Top 3 National position.
Investment Strategy
In order to achieve our investment objective, we created rule of thumb as follows:
• Abnormal profit
In order to gain an abnormal profit, we seek a stock with high volatility. Before the competition started, we did a lot of brainstorming, not just within us but within our university mates who also joined this competition. Through that, we learn stocks from various conglomerates group perform better and more volatile than others. We sort our list from Bhakti Group, Bakrie

And we found 2 material news, 1 coming from Bhakti Group and 1 coming from Lippo Group. From Bhakti, we found that Bhakti would make IATA for its infrastructure holding (and we know infrastructure is a boom on Indonesia!). Unfortunately while we watch the running trade, we simply decide that the volume isn’t enough for us playing with 800 million (we need about 20000 lot while the bid offer just not more than 1000 lot for every price level) and historically it wouldn’t move above 80, so we decide not to take it (and this is a bad decision since we know suspect that the 1st rank take this IATA with its liquidity risk and unfavorable condition, unless they have some insider information about the future price!) Then, we went to Lippo Group and the news about some business divestment on MPPA and capital reduction. We analyze that this corporate action will lead a good profit for the parent, MLPL. So we decide to take position on MLPL at 20 Sept. (news released on 19 Sept after market close).
• Technical Analysis for Entry Picture 4 MLPL Chart on that day
Chart is really helpful for our decision to entry here. We wait the price to break fractal (the last high) at 154-155. We saw a good volume and price break at 2nd session of that day, we decide to take position 9400 lot at market price (155). The order is done on a good consolidation movement after price break. We sold it also at that day since:

the stock is a call option on the firm's assets, and risky projects increase the volatility of those assets.
All segments are critical for the implementation of our company’s strategy because we chose to be broad cost leaders. Cost leaders maintain a presence in all market segments by focusing on low production costs and competitive pricing. With that in mind, one segment is considered to be slightly more important than the others: the low end segment. We will compete in every market segment, but this is one of the most important due to the fact that price is the main consideration of the buying criteria at 53% importance. Our costs will be much lower than our competitors which translates into a lower market price for this product, which is ideal for our customers.

Established in January 1999, Pine Street Capital (PSC) was a market-neutral hedge fund that specialized in the technology field, facing market risk and trying to decide whether and which way to use in order to hedge equity market risk. They choose technology sector because the partners of PSC felt that they have enough ability to evaluate this sector and specially be good at picking out-performing stock. Short-selling of NASDAQ and options hedging strategy are the two major hedging choices for PSC. Either strategy has its own advantages in different economic periods and conditions. The fund has just through one of the most volatile periods in NASDAQ 's history, and it was trying to decide whether it should continue its risk management
Over the past five weeks, I’ve been following, tracking and studying five stocks in-particular and seeing how they have progressed over these past couple of weeks in the stock market. The stocks that I have chosen are Facebook, Amazon, General Motors, McDonald’s and Apple. The reason why I have chosen these companies are because they are the most successful companies not only in there designated field of business but in the world. These companies are constantly mentioned as the top companies in multiple business magazines such as Forbes, Bloomberg Businessweek, etc. I also plan on learning more about these companies and how they do in the stock market and how price fluctuating can cause stock prices and shares to affect the stock market.
There are various schools of strategy that have been vigorously debated on and after a consolidated effort; three schools of strategy were produced. They are the planning school, the positional school, and the resource based school of strategy (Ritson, 2013). All these strategies will be described with examples to buttress each.
Further, our strategy involved paying attention to current events and attempting to use them to generate a return. For example, Horizon Pharmaceuticals’ stock price took a nosedive after an October 19th New York Times article suggested that Horizon was attempting to thwart Express Scripts’ attempts to lower the price of prescription drugs. The decision was made to buy 100 shares of stock in Horizon when its price spiraled down to a measly $14.62 per share, as we expected Horizon would do something to stop the bleeding, and historically has been a pretty volatile stock. Horizon came back with a scorching rebuttal in an open letter later that day, spiking its stock price more than 30% on October 23rd, and by October 28th, this move landed us our greatest return of any stock that we purchased and held until the end of the period: 18% (see appendix).
