All of the people in The City of Ember are stuck underground! The city is very dark and scary! They have never seen the sun before. Jeanne DuPrau really writes the book, The City of Ember, to make people thankful that they live in the real world and not underground. This is a really bad situation and Lina and Doon need to find a way out. The City of Ember has many similarities and differences between the novel and the film; however the movie was more entertaining experience.
The book and movie have a lot of similarities. In the book and the movie Poppy eats the instructions, but if Poppy wouldn’t have eaten the instructions it would have made it a lot easier to find their way out. If they would have been able to have some help from the people that might would have know more and they could have had some help while they were trying to put it together. This part is really sad!!! In both the movie and the book they didn’t have enough meds to give Granny, so she died and before she died her mom and dad died. They had to go and live with Mrs. Murdo. It would have been easier if Lina’s parents wouldn’t have died they would have went all together to the new world and they would have had a little bit of “adult help”. When they got to the “real city” the adults could have helped them when it was dark and they couldn’t see. Lastly, when Lina saw

In the movie there was a lot more stuff going on and everything happened a lot faster. In the book it took so much longer for everything to happen, and in the movie it felt more “real”. In the movie we could actually see how dark and scary the city really was. The city was really dark and they had a lot of blackouts and they were running out of lots of stuff. Lastly, the mayor got killed and that’s what he deserved. He was taking from The City of Ember, and so they were running out, because he was taking it all. All in all, the movie was a lot better then the
Comparing the book to the movie you can clearly tell what certain things are different. For example, Sydelle Pulaski worked for Mr. Westing in the movie but only talked over the intercom. This not only caused a lot of drama but more depth to the plot. Also, Crow didn’t go to jail but they did talk about most of the consequences of her going to jail. This made a little bit more serious and emotional instead of just letting it go.
I think the movie is better than the book because it’s more visual, has more action, and has props.
The similarities between the City of Ember novel and film include: Lina and Doon switch
One example is there wasn’t a secret room in the greenhouse in the book were Lina and Doon hid from the guards. Another difference is in the book they don’t find and use Doon’s dad’s machine to get through the tunnel to the opening. One really important difference is that in the movie the way out is much more complicated and long. These differences were important because the secret room in the greenhouse helped them hide from the guards and not get caught. Doon’s dad’s machine is an important difference because it tells us that he was trying to escape with Lina’s dad. The way out in the movie was more complicated is important because it adds more action in the movie and makes the movie
The 3 major differences that were seen are the shattering of the conch, the pilot’s presence, and Ralph’s attitude towards Piggy. Due to these major differences the novel left a greater impact on its readers than the movie on its viewers. Seeing the movie and as well reading the book, personally the book was a better. The book has a very different approach of that showed these 3 major differences to their full extent. Out of the two though, I would choose the book as more pleasant and
Some things are different in the book and movie. Like Sunset Towers and Money in both versions. Sunset towers is luxurious in the book but a bad place to live downtown. The money the will was worth 200 million but in the movie it is worth 20 million. Another difference is that the Wexlers moved to Sunset Towers because they had no money, but in the book they moved because they had money. In the movie Jake Wexler is paying off his debt though they have money in the book. Jake Wexler is a
The novel and the movie share many similarities. The book and the novel share the same problems. A example johnny and pony run away since johnny killed bob.In both johnny gets injured badly and dies.
Finally there are lots of differences between the book and the movie. They also show that the movie was a lot weaker then then the book. I can see the movies aren't always better than the books. The books go more into detail than the movie. I enjoined the movie because it is more visual. The book was a little
One reason that the suspense is better in the book is because it has longer to build up. On example of this is when Mae killed the man in the yellow suit in the book we had to wait a few chapters to find out if he was dead or unconscious. On the other hand, in the movie, we saw him get killed then two minutes later we were told that he was dead and it was much less suspenseful. Another reason that the book is more suspenseful than the movie is the prison scene. In the book, we had this whole build up to Winnie taking Mae’s place in the cell and the sheriff finding out. But, in the movie there wasn’t much time between Mae killing the man and her breaking out of
The book tells the same story as the movie but in a different way it cuts out thing the movies has or the movies adds thing that's not in the book. The book has some not many similar but . I feel the director was unfaithful to the book. The book and movie version of Our America had many differences.
In my opinion some of these changes made the story more fun to watch and more action packed. But some of these changes made the movie leave out a lot of detail and some parts and got confused because it skipped a scene in the book. I'm glad they added all these similarities because if they had not then it would have left out a lot of information about the characters and Information about the city and plot of the movie and
The author gave Mayor Cole an “evil” person's role, I could simply tell that when he had Lina “arrested” by his guards and thrown in jail just because she was trying to send her friend Clary a note that had information to exit City of Ember, and also how he steals all the food in the City, leaving very few food for others who are also trying to survive the awfulness.
Those were a few of the big differences you can easily notice. There were also other tiny differences. In the movie there were no Locke and Demosthenes, no Dink’s theories, Ender’s time in battle school was shortened down, the battles were compressed , and his army is much smaller than in the book. Also, his siblings, Valentine and Peter, were almost completely cut from the
Could you imagine living in a world underground that has no light and is losing resources very quickly by the day? Well, the City Of Ember by Jeanne Duprau will help you imagine that. The book, City of Ember was published in May 2003. Jeanne Duprau wrote this attention-grabbing book because she wanted to put the thought in our minds to not take the simple things like food, water, lights, and a roof over our head for granted. In this book the similarities outnumber the differences.
Imagine if people lived underground and where the lights always went out. The City of Ember is a novel written by Jeanne DuPrau. The City of Ember book was set underground and had a lot of information. The City of Ember movie had a little detail that compared to the book. Both the book and movie were really good. The City of Ember has many similarities and differences between the novel and film; however the novel was more entertaining experience.
