When most people hear or think about the Civil Rights Movement, they think the amazing things they have accomplished such as the Voting Rights Act, Civilian Rights Act of 1964, Brown v board of education and etc. But the Civil rights movement had to go through rigorous obstacles to achieve equal rights.The March for Voting Rights was a success Through the leadership of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the SCLC are other important organization. The faith the marchers had on Martin Luther King Jr., On the second attempt to march to Montgomery. Finally, the commitment of the community and the nation to achieve voting rights for all. On March 17, 1963, Judge Johnson ruled in favor of the protestors indicating, “The Law is clear that the right to petition one’s government for the redress of grievances may be exercised in large groups... and these rights may be exercised by marching, even along public highways.” Under the terms of the ruling an unlimited amount of people are allowed to begin and finish the march, which was requested to be completed in five days. On March 21 King had led about three-thousand to eight-thousand marchers out of Selma, over Pettus Bridge, and then onto the road to Montgomery.There were more than one-thousand and eight hundred Alabama National Guardsmen, and a little over 2,000 Soldiers to aid and protect the marchers. As the march proceeded it grew and grew until it adopted over twenty-five thousand people. The marchers arrived at the state capitol on March 25, the King addressed the crowd and the nation what is now known as “How Long, Not Long” speech, as he stands on the podium watching over his people he addresses to the crowd insuring their future, he begins to say, “I know you are asking today, “How long will it take?...How long will the prejudice blind the visions of men, darken their understanding, and drive bright-eyed wisdom from her sacred throne?”... How long? Not long, because no lie can live forever. How long? Not Long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. Martin Luther King, Jr. says, “How Long?” as he confronts the nation with the insurance of achieving peace he finishes the sentence saying,”... the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Kings argues that Justice will inevitably win no matter how harsh society is. The March for voting right was success because of the dedication of the courageous marchers on succeeding the Civil Rights
