The Civil War, known by many as one of the most tumultuous times in our country’s history is one of the most crucial wars that the United States has ever participated in. The reason for this is that the country was not at war with an enemy from another country but within itself. With the many years of conflict between the northern union states and the southern confederacy states and with the Union’s victory over the confederate south, it has been known as one of the most infamous wars of
United States History. This war also proclaimed the crucial significance of six presidents from states that represented both the Union and Confederacy and the effect their political pursuits had on the Civil War. These Presidents were Abraham Lincoln, Martin

Soon after, congressional recognition of him as president followed, despite a spirited fight from former President John Quincy Adams.
America was on the threshold of civil war in 1861 and Tyler decided to spearhead a peace conference in Washington, D.C. His plan was to head up talks so that the Union would not be altered. The conference was quite disastrous, and the war would soon begin. Tyler voted for Virginia to secede from the Union at this time and died the next year. Because Tyler was seen as a traitor, President Lincoln and the U.S. government refused to recognize his death. -Van Buren
In the book, Van Buren was born in upstate New York in 1782; exactly right after the decisive siege of Yorktown and before the Treaty of Paris. Van Buren was a proponent for and recognized American independence. “His family consisted of three siblings from his mother’s previous marriage, six siblings from his parents union, and six slaves his mother had inherited.” (DeRosa, 2014) His father, who was a

Buchanan did not help himself with Northerners when he supported an act that made Kansas a slave state called the Lecompton Constitution. Buchanan died in 1868.
-Lincoln
The final president, but not the least known, is Mr. Penny himself, Abraham
Lincoln. Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. He was the President who ended the Civil War on May 9, 1865. Abe Lincoln was a very trusted, intelligent, and self-taught kid; through self-teaching, Lincoln even became a lawyer. As president of the Union, Lincoln had to lead the North in order to defeat the Southern Confederacy.
On January 1, 1863, Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation after the Union’s
Victory at the “Battle of Antietam.” Lincoln also initiated several acts to pay for the high costs of the war such as The Revenue Act of 1861, The Morrill act of 1862, and the
Homestead Act, which was also passed in 1862. Abraham Lincoln met his death on
April 14, 1865. He was attending a play at the Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C., and was shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth. Booth sided with the Confederates. Lincoln soon died the following day after leaving America feeling a bitter loss and
Economics, political viewpoint, and union leadership were the primary reason the union won the war. Although, Abraham Lincoln, committed to the preservation of the union, his leadership was not the primary reason the north won.
Lincoln was a mainly unknown prairie legal representative, and at the start of the war which everybody estimated to be over quickly, he did not tell much about how to choose and use the superlative Generals. By the half, nevertheless, he had skillfully maneuvered a condition where the British and French might not send help to the Confederates without observing pro-slavery, and then made the astute decision to back U.S.Grant as his General-in-Chief. For the time being he had exposed outstanding dexterity in the management of his talented but rebellious cabinet, and by the period of his tragic assassination, had got his place as one of the boundless men of American history, probably the greatest.
He had believed that murdering Lincoln would cause the Union to win the war. However, that did not happen. Even after the asassination, the Union won the war and abolished slavery. “The Northern armies were victorious, and the rebellious states returned to the Union,” (Marnon, 2007). This shows that the South had to join the union as a result of losing the war.
Beginning as a battle of army versus army, the war became a conflict of society against society. In this kind of war, the ability to mobilize economic resources, the effectiveness of political leadership, and a society’s willingness to keep up the fight despite setbacks, are as crucial to the outcome as success or failure on the battlefields. Unfortunately for the Southern planters, by the spring of 1865, the South was exhausted, and on April 9, Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House, effectively ending the war.
Some say it was the bloodiest battle in American history. The war lasted from 1861-1865 between the Confederacy and the Union. About 620,000 people were killed and millions were injured. This war was the American Civil War. In this war, southerners and northerners turned against each other partly because of the issue of slavery. It was a very violent war that had a huge impact on the United States as we know it today. The Civil War a product of so many issues that the northerners and southerners had against each other. They had different viewpoints and opinions on particular topics. More specifically, they had different opinions on the topic of slavery.
The American Civil War may be one of the most significant wars to ever happen in the world. The war shaped the future of our country and developed one of the greatest sectional divisions within one country. The war altered all American life and society. Men, Women, and children were involved in the war to some extent. Although the war was devastating to the country at the time, it allowed for a sought out brighter future.
The Civil War that occurred was one of the darkest times in our history as a country. It was a time where there was a complete breakdown of social and political systems. Hundreds of thousands were killed and hundreds of thousands more were aversely affected. However, it was also a time of remembrance and significant moral progress. It is remembered as the turning point in American History and would be the foundation for the Civil Rights movement many years later.
The Civil War, it's the war where people fought for what they wanted, over 620,000 American soldiers died during the very bloody and brutal war; however, the Union got what they wanted, they wanted the African Americans to be free. Free from the hands of the selfish slave owners. For four years, the United States suffered this hellish war, many courageous people risked their lives to spy on the enemy and they fought for what they believed in.
As a pivotal point in our nation’s history, the civil war holds a special fascination in the land and minds of the American people. It was a war entirely fought by Americans, often dividing families and even brothers against brothers. The American civil war was unforgettable. It was fought between the United States of America and the Southern slave states of the nearly formed confederate state of America under Jefferson Davis.
The Civil War is the one of the biggest wars the US have ever fought. President Lincoln tried to get rid of
The American Civil War, the most terrifying and horrific war fought in America. In the 1860 presidential election Republicans were led by Abraham Lincoln who did not support slavery at all. even though he had slaves, he did not like it and he opposed the expansion of slavery in the US territories. The problem was that the seven slave states with cotton-based economics needed their slaves to keep their economy up and running, so they formed the Confederacy. These first 7 states to secede had a 48.8% population of slaves. President James Buchanan and the Republicans rejected secession as illegal. The remaining 8 slave states rejected the call for secession. A peace conference was arranged but failed to find a compromise and both sides prepared for war. The South was very angry with the north because they felt as if they were taking away their state rights, The Southern Position that citizens of every states did have the right to take their property anywhere in the U.S. and not have it taken away. Specifically their slaves. But Northerners rejected this right because it would violate the right of a free state. This did not make the South happy, and for the North taking away their rights and trying to end slavery, the Confederate was formed and this is what started the deadly war.
It was on April 14, 1865 that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Lincoln went to see a play with his wife at Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C. During the play a man by the name of John Wilkes Booth snuck in and up the steps that lead to the balcony where Lincoln was sitting. He waited until there was a part in the play for the crowd to make noise and it was then that he shot President Lincoln in the back of his head. It is said that after shooting Lincoln in the back of the head, Booth jumped onto the stage from the balcony where Lincoln was sitting and shouted, “Sic semper tyrannis! (Ever thus to tyrants!) The South is avenged” and fled on horseback (history.com). Lincoln died the next morning.
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on 14th April 1865 and was serving as 16th President of the United States from 1861. Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate spy, who was not happy with how the president supported the African Americans
The United States has been involved in a lot of wars and battles throughout the past. The Civil War was one of the most significant moments in the history of the United States of America. The Civil War took place between the North and South of the United States of America following the Confederacy seceding from the Union after Abraham Lincoln’s presidency and fought to maintain their independence. The war started off as a war regarding the rights of the different states. As the war progressed, it ended up turning into a war about freedom, slaves, white Northerns rioting against the draft and black Americans, Union troops, and much more.
Between the four years of 1861 and 1865 the United States was engaged in a Civil War. This involved a division between the free North and the slave holding South, where eleven southern states split from the Union, altogether refusing the idea of a single American nation. Abraham Lincoln, who was the president at the time, disapproved of this revolt and had “500,000 soldiers to crush what threatened to be an aggressive rebellion.” In April 1861, the first shots were fired, and what followed became an unthinkable tragedy of gigantic proportions. Thousands upon thousands of soldiers were killed and millions more wounded; large areas of the South were engulfed by aggressive battles almost resulting in a Union defeat under determined Confederate forces. Focusing on the major turning point battle of the war, the Battle at Gettysburg, the confederate Army was led by General Robert E. Lee, and the Union Army was led by General George G. Meade. This battle lasted for three days - July 1st through the 3rd, 1863, and ended when the Confederates had failed to break up the main Union line.
