I found the effects of European colonization of the Americas interesting. Such as the devastation that was brought upon the native people. Then how all the European groups came over and practiced their beliefs in religion and government. Plus the ways these groups came together in a revolt against the British Empire, which led to a unique culture and the establishment of the United States of America
I also enjoyed learning more about the civil war. I’ve always found the Civil War interesting. Through the research I had to do, I can say that I learned many of the fine details for events big and small. The basis for the war became clearer as I had always known slavery was an issue in the war. I learned that the war wasn’t necessarily fought

Lincoln is one of the “champions” of human life and dignity. He is one of the presidents in the US. Lincoln led the United States through its Civil War—its bloodiest war and its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy.By the 1850s, slavery was still legal in the southern United States, but had been generally outlawed in the northern states, including Illinois, whose original 1818 Constitution forbade slavery, as required by the Northwest Ordinance. Lincoln disapproved of slavery, and the spread of slavery to new U.S. territory in the west. On October 16, 1854, in his "Peoria Speech", Lincoln declared his
Regional differences in the United States have always existed and always will, but what makes the South the “different” one? The South's genesis was different from other regions, and it evolved relying heavily on agriculture. Southern history affects its citizens differently than other regions. Over the years, religion has risen as another factor which sets the Southern states apart from the rest. Changes have occurred over the years to bring the South closer to the other regions, but the South will always be different because of the region’s history.
How do I feel about the Civil Wars? I feel that war is a bad way to handle things. But around the 1800’s everything isn’t the same as it used to be. So, therefore there weren’t many ways to settle things. So, whenever the presidents don’t have the same mind set and they think the other president is talking about the others country they would have war with the other country. And whenever presidents have their disagreements, it doesn’t always end up in a good way. But I think killing it not ever the way to go because that’s not good at all. Now days the War would most likely be different because time has changed since the 1800’s. So whatever they used back in the 1800’s would be different from the things they used in the 2000’s.
Matthew, as you referenced I truly believe that western expansion a major reason that caused the Civil War, especially with the Kansas and Nebraska entering as U.S. territories (M. Moore, personal communication, May 25, 2017 & Schultz, 2014). However, the threat to the Southern way of life was the fact that they were unwilling to advance technologically as the North had during the market revolution. However, I fail to fully understand how the new territories being fully anti-slave states really would affect the South as long as they were still able to own slaves. So, was the issue possibly that to justify their treatment of slaves that they wanted other states to join them to soothe their conscience?
t compiled to cause the Civil War in the later years. Although there is the negative effect, the positive is also very big in that inventions like the Cotton Gin improved society and the economy.
The latter half of the 19th century was the bloodiest in the history of North America. The US Civil War tested the resolve of both the North and the South, on the questions slavery and States Rights. The Civil War would shape the leaders who would sit in power for the next fifty years.
America’s gift to our generation is that there is no longer slavery, because Abraham Lincoln fought for our rights in the Civil War. The south could have won the war if they would have won the First Battle of Bull Run. The reason this battle would have changed whether we have or do not have slavery now is because it is thought that the french would have joined the south if they had won that battle. If the french would have joined the south, they would have received a lot more supplies and food. We are very fortunate that The Union won the Civil War or else we would not be able to black friends.
The biggest war that ever happened was the Civil War. This was the most deadliest, and hurtful wars between the North and the South. This war lasted for four years straight from 1861 to 1865. So many events led up to this war which made it so brutal. I believe that the events that took place to start the civil war could have been easily avoided by just a little communication that they did not use around that time. I do not believe everything that happened in those four years should have happened the way that it did.
Soldiers of the American Civil War were overwhelmed by a time where weaponry and technological developments were thriving. This brutal war changed the soldiers, both mentally and physically, and continued to have an impact throughout their entire lives. There were not only many deaths during the war, but also prior to the war as many soldiers took their own life. They would experience disturbing thoughts and events in their mind that could not be explained until they became known as mental illnesses. The exploration of psychological disorders following the Civil War improved medical diagnostic tools and the way patients were treated which transformed the treatment of mental illness by creating new ways of discovering illnesses, treating patients, and developing the foundation for the future of psychology throughout America.
The American Civil War, which began in 1861 to 1865, has gone down in history as the one of the most significant events to have ever occurred in the United States of America, thus far. At that time, questions had arose wondering how the United States ever got so close to hitting rock bottom, especially being that it was a conflict within the country itself. Hostility steadily grew through the years dividing the nation further and further, and finally leading to the twelfth day in April 1861 in Fort Sumter, North Carolina. The American Civil War was an irrepressible battle and aside from the obvious physical effects of the war, the disagreement over states rights, the act of slavery, and the raising of tariffs played crucial roles in the
The Civil war was a big part of history that greatly impacted America and its people. The war shaped the way Americans think today. Some people are in the present and do not think the way some people did when the war was going on but there are people who still think like those sort of people from that time period. Of course America has become quite diverse and accepts most people because of how the Civil war affected us.
The Civil War is the significant and central event in America’s history. It lasted in four years from 1861 to 1865 and was involved by not only men but also women. The Civil War made a significant affect in the lives of American in general and women in particular. During the war, women started taking action and challenging the ideology of “true womanhood” to stand in many different roles. They became soldiers, nurses, spies, and doctors. They took new roles at home, fought along men, and served in battle field.
In the beginning when America was uniting and trying to form its official government the northern states and the southern states had already different greatly from each other. The North was industrializing and working on expanding west and the South was booming with farming and its famous cash crop. The North wanted to abolish slavery and the South did not. Since the North and South had so many differences and could not keep a steady compromise, heavy tensions arose between the North and the South which then caused the Southern states of America to decide to leave the American Union and create their own Southern Confederacy. This tore our nation apart. The American Civil War had begun and the very people that were once neighbors had each
In 1861, a horrific war began. Nobody had any idea that this war would become the deadliest war in American history. It wasn’t a regular war, it was a civil war opposing the Union in the North and the Confederate States in the South.. The Civil War cost many people’s lives on the battlefield and beyond. In addition it cost an extreme amount of money for the nation which possibly could have been avoided if the war had turned to happen a little differently.
