My subjects may think I treat them badly well that's just the way of a legalist withs its ups and downs. Most of our ups are a game changer like how I unified China from a 200 year civil war. Some people think legalism is a bad thing well you should reconsider. Legalism helps people who are naturally bad be good and disciplined. Also we've created Irrigations to support farming and expanded the great wall for protection. We've achieved so much with a greatwall, irrigation, and roads and canals to improve this country. I think that the Mandate of heaven is still with me and I have been A great emperor and I can prove it.
By ending a 200 year war I have unified China and ended all threats. One achievement we completed was Unified
There has been much debate as to whether the Civil War could have been avoided or not. The Evansville Daily Journal argues that the Civil War was inevitable, but Alexander Stephens disagrees and proposes that the war could have been avoided. Stephen’s argument is superior to the Evansville Daily Journal one because it objectively talks about the recent changes in the United States, explains the different views between the North and South, and tries to convince people that a war is not necessary.
The Civil War that occurred was one of the darkest times in our history as a country. It was a time where there was a complete breakdown of social and political systems. Hundreds of thousands were killed and hundreds of thousands more were aversely affected. However, it was also a time of remembrance and significant moral progress. It is remembered as the turning point in American History and would be the foundation for the Civil Rights movement many years later.
America is a new country. Here, the first time ever, a group of brave people cut out the bondage from Europe, free the philosophers, thinkers, also gave people desire to founding a new country. In the United States, human rights is the foundation for building this country. “I hold that in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution the Union of these States is perpetual.” Read from the Abraham Lincoln First Inaugural Address. President Lincoln have put every effort to make The United States united together. At the time he had the First Inaugural Address on 1861, there were seven states announced separate from the United States. In his document, Lincoln had mention thirty-four times of the “constitution” and “unconstitutional”. The Constitution of the United States has been used as the central support material for his document.
There had been many wonderful misunderstanding between North and South in the years that led up to the Civil War, but the most tragic misunderstanding of all was that neither side realized, until it was too late, that the other side was desperate. Not until the war had actually begun would men see that their rivals really meant to fight? By that time it was too late to do anything but go on fighting. Southerners had been talking secession for many years, and most people in the North had come to look on such talk as a counter in the game of politics.
If we read deep into Zinn's A Peoples history of the United States, we may find details into our American DNA. Where and what we originally come from, what it took to get here, and how far we have progressed. While uncovering many chapters in the book, I found myself going back for more of Chapter 10: The Other Civil War. As for myself, I was never aware of another Civil War, only familiarizing myself with one. As I was reading these historical pages and awing at my founders and leaders before me, I found myself as engaged I have ever been in a historical novel. Zinn opened my eyes as a non-historical junky. Reading Zinn I found myself remembering one of the greatest quotes by George Santayana, "Those who do not
As a people our national history was written, for the most part, as a result of civil disobedience. Breaking the laws that England imposed on the colonies was the first step in a revolution that established a new form of representative democracy. Most of the great social changes that have come about over the 200+ years of our existence had its roots in the embracing of breaking a law of the land dutifully enacted by a legislative body.
During the Civil War nearly 3.6 million men served in the army of both sides while only 137,500 served for either Navy(Veit). The Yankees and the rebels both were unprepared for Naval warfare at the beginning of the war. The North still had many shipyards and materials available compared to the South’s few. It took years for the two to build up ironclads and battleships capable of battling on the high seas, rivers or bays. The Union made a blockade that they hoped would prevent the Confederates from exporting their goods. However the South designed ships known as blockade runners which were swift and quick ships made to import and export goods in the South. While the Union Navy also made acts seizing bays and ports while traveling miles upstreams.
The American Civil War has without a doubt left a permanent divide on this great nation’s past and present. American historians still debate the causes of a war that began in 1861 between the Union states and Confederacy states. The war can be seen as caused by the principle of slavery, the growing tension between northern and southern ideology or due to a crack in the political system of the time. United States’ history classes focus on teaching students different views as to the origin of the Civil War. Three renowned American historians who explore this topic beautifully are Eric Foner, James G. Randall, and Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Foner provides the best explanation to the origin of
FINAL EXAM 2. Discuss the ways in which the North and South had become far different cultures in the areas of politics, economics, and social customs. Why were these important? Provide evidence to support your answers. The Civil War brought many changes to the North and South regions, otherwise known as the Union and the Confederacy.
After thoroughly assessing past readings and additional research on the Civil War between the North and South, it was quite apparent that the war was inevitable. Opposed views on this would have probably argued that slavery was the only reason for the Civil War. Therefore suggesting it could have been avoided if a resolution was reached on the issue of slavery. Although there is accuracy in stating slavery led to the war, it wasn’t the only factor. Along with slavery, political issues with territorial expansion, there were also economic and social differences between North and South. These differences, being more than just one or two, gradually led to a war that was bound to happened one way or another.
The Civil War can be thought of as a second American Revolution in many cases based on the state’s beliefs and the issue of slavery being dealt with. Slavery was a major issue that was morally wrong in the eyes of the north, but a way of life for southerners. Congress made attempts to appeal to both the North and the South by issuing acts to keep either side from engaging in conflict, but the conflict was inevitable in Lincolns eyes. He knew that there would either be slavery allowed everywhere or that slavery would be abolished for good, there was no in-between that could be reached between the North and the South. The Civil War however showed that the issue of slavery caused a great dispute between the North and the South to an extent of
The lives that we live and the freedoms that we have today may be considered great for the majority of our population. This could be attributed to the history of the United States and the civil war. What would our country be like if the Confederacy won the war? How would our lives be impacted and what freedoms would we have today if that were the case? What if the major Union victories were actually Confederate victories? The following is just an idea of what potentially could have happened if this were the case. There was intense fighting that occurred throughout the United and Confederate States of America ranging from Texas and as far north as Pennsylvania as well as Naval battles Atlantic Ocean and a few in the Gulf of Mexico. Coupled
The Civil War brought the United States down to its knees. This blood-soaked conflict became one of the most brutal wars that this country has taken arms to and the destruction from the result of the war validates this view. Thus a period coined as Reconstruction started where the main objectives of the national government were to rebuild the southern confederate states and to protect the rights of the newly freed slaves. Throughout this tumultuous period, three significant court cases, US v. Cruikshank, US v. Reese, and US v. Anthony, used race and gender in the United States to shape and limit what it means to be a citizen with alleged “privileges and immunities.”
The statement you cited that one slave can kill six white men; I don't think that David Walker wanted to kill all white people for their lack of morality, in my opinion, it was a necessary movement for him to spread his rethoric of the same saying of 'give me liberty or give me death' type of speech. Therefore, the revolts that he inspired across the souther colonies were necessary to create the opportunity to change the social order for better or worse. However, I do not think that the white southerners were willingly give up their slave for compensation because it was their source of revenue for their plantation, a required labor force. So, the Civil War was inevitable whether there was a multiple revolts or a gradual abolishment of the

African American always looked for their constitutional rights.
