Civil war vs. The Right and the Left
America is a new country. Here, the first time ever, a group of brave people cut out the bondage from Europe, free the philosophers, thinkers, also gave people desire to founding a new country. In the United States, human rights is the foundation for building this country. “I hold that in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution the Union of these States is perpetual.” Read from the Abraham Lincoln First Inaugural Address. President Lincoln have put every effort to make The United States united together. At the time he had the First Inaugural Address on 1861, there were seven states announced separate from the United States. In his document, Lincoln had mention thirty-four times of the “constitution” and “unconstitutional”. The Constitution of the United States has been used as the central support material for his document.
Lincoln believed the United States is the affiliation of the states. States have the right to legislate, and the Federal government cannot interfere the decision. Lincoln also stated:
“Resolved, That the maintenance inviolate of the rights of the States, and especially the right of each State to order and control its own domestic institutions according to its own judgment exclusively, is essential to that balance of power on which the perfection and endurance of our political fabric depend; and we denounce the lawless invasion by armed force of the
Soldiers of the American Civil War were overwhelmed by a time where weaponry and technological developments were thriving. This brutal war changed the soldiers, both mentally and physically, and continued to have an impact throughout their entire lives. There were not only many deaths during the war, but also prior to the war as many soldiers took their own life. They would experience disturbing thoughts and events in their mind that could not be explained until they became known as mental illnesses. The exploration of psychological disorders following the Civil War improved medical diagnostic tools and the way patients were treated which transformed the treatment of mental illness by creating new ways of discovering illnesses, treating patients, and developing the foundation for the future of psychology throughout America.
There has been much debate as to whether the Civil War could have been avoided or not. The Evansville Daily Journal argues that the Civil War was inevitable, but Alexander Stephens disagrees and proposes that the war could have been avoided. Stephen’s argument is superior to the Evansville Daily Journal one because it objectively talks about the recent changes in the United States, explains the different views between the North and South, and tries to convince people that a war is not necessary.
The Civil war between the north and south was a fight sparked by conflicting ideologies. James McPherson detailed that honor, duty, patriotism and ideology formed the main sustaining motivations for the Civil War, while courage, self-respect and group cohesion kept men going in combat. Along with these McPherson In his book For Cause & Comrades McPherson describes soldiers initial motivations. The differences between the confederate and union soldiers’ motivations were more prominent than they were similar because their underlying goals for the future of America varied when it pertained to human rights.
We will be concerned with whether Abraham Lincoln succeeded in remaining indifferent and nonpartisan towards the South in his 2nd Inaugural Address. In what is considered one of the most distinguished Presidential commencement speeches on record, as well as the shortest in length at approximately 700 words, the "Great Emancipator" understood the Herculean task ahead of him in unifying the bisected country. By illustrating how slavery was the predominant cause of hostility that halved a nation, Lincoln expresses his eagerness for tranquility while heavily referencing the role of God in the Union's endeavor to create a more perfect republic. In seeking to ensure that the Confederate States would be welcomed back to the Union amiably, I will
Regional differences in the United States have always existed and always will, but what makes the South the “different” one? The South's genesis was different from other regions, and it evolved relying heavily on agriculture. Southern history affects its citizens differently than other regions. Over the years, religion has risen as another factor which sets the Southern states apart from the rest. Changes have occurred over the years to bring the South closer to the other regions, but the South will always be different because of the region’s history.
Americans pleaded for peace with anxiousness during the 1860’s due to the hardship that was brought from the devastating Civil War. Because the war was so impactful, during and after, Abraham Lincoln resorts to the idea that a united nation may be the only resolution for the future of the country. During his second inauguration Abraham Lincoln gives a short yet effective speech promising to the Americans the reestablishment of tranquility for the Americans and their families by helping them seek for the correct guidance from God.
The American Civil War has without a doubt left a permanent divide on this great nation’s past and present. American historians still debate the causes of a war that began in 1861 between the Union states and Confederacy states. The war can be seen as caused by the principle of slavery, the growing tension between northern and southern ideology or due to a crack in the political system of the time. United States’ history classes focus on teaching students different views as to the origin of the Civil War. Three renowned American historians who explore this topic beautifully are Eric Foner, James G. Randall, and Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Foner provides the best explanation to the origin of
Major civil war events took place between 1861 and 1865, which was a contribution of the division of nations. The war was between the southern and northern states. The northern states were not supportive of slavery in comparison to their southern counterparts. Although slavery was a major cause of the split between the north and south, it was not the only reason. The economic status, cultural activities and the position on state rights were also factors contributing to the division among the states. Slavery was a major issue that divided the northern and southern states. In this paper, the focus is on slavery as the divisive factor of the division of the northern and southern states.
How did the tensions of the 1860’s show the human side of the Civil War? The people in the 1860’s were going through hard times because of the Civil War. It affected people of all different genders, ages, races, and religions. It was especially hard for three groups of people: women, children, and African Americans. In battle or not, many of these people suffered greatly.
The American Civil War, also known as the Civil War, lasted from 1861 to 1865. The war was to determine the survival of the union, or independence for the confederate states. Some would argue that slavery was the principle cause of the war. After much research, I believe the war started because of the misunderstandings, and conflicts between the North and South. Slavery, however, was one of the main purposes. The North and South had economic and social differences causing many disagreements. They argued about state and federal rights, expansion of slave states, the Abolition Movement, and the election of Abraham Lincoln.
President Jefferson Davis elaborated on this definition of states rights in his first address to the Confederate Congress when he said:
Two sides of a country fighting for full control war ends now its just reconstruction but who stops it. The North was a free side but the south wasn't. They both ended into going into war with each other the north side stayed an won. So then there needed to be reconstruction in the south. It started fine but then it all stopped why. Who killed the rebuilding of the U.S colonies? The side who killed the reconstruction of the U.S was the South due evidence of cruelty because of a lost wasr and the issue of the freed slaves, not saying the North had little to do with it but the South was the main reason for stopping reconstruction.
The Civil War brought the United States down to its knees. This blood-soaked conflict became one of the most brutal wars that this country has taken arms to and the destruction from the result of the war validates this view. Thus a period coined as Reconstruction started where the main objectives of the national government were to rebuild the southern confederate states and to protect the rights of the newly freed slaves. Throughout this tumultuous period, three significant court cases, US v. Cruikshank, US v. Reese, and US v. Anthony, used race and gender in the United States to shape and limit what it means to be a citizen with alleged “privileges and immunities.”
The radical Republicans is an American politician of the public’s sure know that they are more a party for the American in the publics of the world how white people are the leadership for this punished on the civil wars. During these civil wars they have believed that being a leader sure on their roles of American. In this world as this, white people have fed by government of lager of the roles of the fact by this state is it, when you have just noticed about how this law is it more like civil right bill in the world what right thing you would able to see can give a free-labor to protect on Friedman either of being working. As the south sure would know how equal right thing all together or can be go toward where they can build their own publics
In 1861, a horrific war began. Nobody had any idea that this war would become the deadliest war in American history. It wasn’t a regular war, it was a civil war opposing the Union in the North and the Confederate States in the South.. The Civil War cost many people’s lives on the battlefield and beyond. In addition it cost an extreme amount of money for the nation which possibly could have been avoided if the war had turned to happen a little differently.
