The Clariden School campus is big curve that contains two layers of depth: the front, which is the buildings, and the back, which is the field and playground. The front is comprised of five buildings. The rightmost building is Upper School, to the left is Administration, and after that is Fine Arts. These buildings are similar in size and shape, and are longer than they are wide. The gym is the leftmost building, and is different than the rest. It is taller, wider, and longer than all of the other buildings. The back layer of the school, beginning behind the Upper School building is just an empty field. To the left of this empty field is a fence, and on the other side the recess/play field. The first thing past the fence is a soccer field.
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 1837, the first higher education institution for African Americans was founded on February 25th given the name Institute for Colored Youth (originally the African Institute). After changing its name again to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moving to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it continues as the oldest predominantly African American school of higher learning. The institute was founded by Richard Humphreys, a Quaker philanthropist who donated 10,000 dollars to establish a school that would educate young African American male and females the skills needed to become more competitive in the job market (Conyers, 1990). The school taught basic subjects such as math, reading and writing, as well as agriculture and mechanics. Humphreys envisioned the institute to train people of color to become teachers who would further instruct more young men and
Clendinnen explains why the captor wore the victim’s chalk and down of his kin and why he cried for the victim. She says that the captor did this because the captive was going to die a lonely death among strangers, since he was from outside Tenochtitlan. Even though, the captor’s kin ate from the captive, the captor didn’t do so, because he said he wouldn’t eat “his own flesh” since he too would probably die on the stone and others will eat his flesh in another city. Also, she interprets that the Aztecs didn’t necessarily believe that their were killing the warrior as he was before the rituals. Instead, all the preparation that had gone into this day, from the cutting of the warrior lock to the mock heart excisions, had made him more sacred, and changed him from a warrior into a victim. Once the warrior lock of hair was cut, it was believed that the warrior made his

I came into Norwalk Community College looking for a fresh start. I previously attended a 4 year university that became too much for me; attending school full-time, working 30 hours per week while trying to enjoy the college experience. At the cost of an “experience” I ended up failing most of my classes, putting my health at risk drowned by the tremendous amount of stress and just wanted to completely give up. Looking for a fresh start I decided to leave my University, and attend Norwalk Community College. Though this decision created self-doubt in the beginning, it soon came to my realization that it was the best decision I ever made. Immersed in an environment full of positive people, I was able to put my pieces back together.
To conclude, Miami Dade College offers innumerable opportunities, not only to its valued students, but also to its employees. Miami Dade College is a family of change makers and enthusiasts who always aim for greatness. Miami Dade has been the catalyst in my synthesis as a competitive student who refuses to stand still and watch innovation from a distance. This school has taught me to embrace change and adapt to quickly changing situations, since that is what constitutes life. My life has been a chain of events that lead to bigger events, and my stay in the college has been the biggest event that culminated in the fusion of a hardworking, perseverant, competitive, indebted young person with the right tools to flourish. I’m successful because

There is a quote that I have embraced during my professional journey I like that state, “The influence of a good teacher can never be erased”. As a product of the Muscogee County School district, my life mirrors that statement. If it were not for my awesome teachers I would not be the person and teacher I am today. Growing up poor, I lived in Wilson Apartments and attended Fox Elementary School. It was my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Vignery that ignited my passion to become a teacher. She would always hold my hand and made me feel loved despite my many issues. As a result, I wanted to pass this love to my students. I cannot remember not one single thing that she taught me, but I will never forget how she made me feel. I find myself holding
Being a student of Greenbrier High School I have lots of opinions that the school could change for better or worse. Now I know that my opinion doesn’t matter to the school and to the faculty. Many times there are searches of student lockers and backpacks along with the student being there in person. Most of the time the people that get searched are the ones that look suspicious. Also are the people that are known for doing drugs. So attracting attention is one main way to get searched. I believe that it does keep people safe. It helps know we are

Maryville University is one of the top rated schools for the nursing program. My whole life I have planned on attending nursing school no matter how difficult the curriculum. I worked very hard in high school to keep a GPA which would impress many schools. School has always been a big and important part of my life. After researching schools with a high rated nursing program, Maryville University came upon my screen. I immediately scheduled a visit and after visiting, I completely fell in love with the campus and the faculty. A few days after my visit to Maryville I received an email stating I was accepted into the nursing program. Maryville was the only college I applied to and was the only college I planned to attend no matter the circumstances.
Trees are going up, ornaments are being hung, and presents are being placed under the tree, ready to be opened. It’s no lie that the holidays are approaching, as children make their lists for the things they want. For some, however, making a list is not a option, some families will not to be able afford new toys and gadgets for this upcoming holiday, or just everyday essentials. For some, the holidays are a struggle to get families decent gifts. At Northrop High School, students and their families live like this everyday, never being able to afford the essentials due to having little funds.
Wheaton College is a Protestant affiliated, predominately white, institution of higher education, located in the western Chicago suburb of Wheaton, IL. The liberal arts college was officially established in 1860 by the abolitionist, pastor, Jonathan Blanchard, and named after the founder of the town, Warren L. Wheaton (Betchel, 1984). Wheaton College’s mission was originally dedicated to the values of abolition, temperance, and serving Christ (Betchel, 1984). In modern day, Wheaton has narrowed its mission to focus on serving Christ and “advanc[ing] His Kingdom through excellence in liberal arts and graduate programs” (WHEATON’). Wheaton is still known as a prestigious, Christian college, recognized for its commitment to academics and faith.
Central High School, formally known as Dunbar High School, was a very successful school established in 1947 by the Mobile Board of School commissioners. This new school served as an inner city high school to give blacks an opportunity to better themselves as well as their community. Being a wildcat during this time not only implied that you went to Central High, but that you were an individual looking to accomplish your goals to become a better version of yourself. Dr. Benjamin F. Baker, Jonathan T. Gains, and all of their staff took pride in the school, and looked to obtain mentor style relationships with all of the students.
