Classism is detrimental to society because it promotes and enforces exclusivity. Someone of higher class will have access to nutritional foods, better health care, and education. The reality of class systems are hard to grasp, since many of us believe that lifestyle choices leads to lower status or higher status. In the film “People Like Us,” Bill Bear, a plumber, describes it as a “caste system” a system similar to India. He states, “We have a caste system here in this country. Now, people are reluctant to admit that, but you see it, you know you don’t see them socializing together.
