DEFENDING CLOSE ORDER DRILL One of the oldest traditions that exist in the Marine Corps is close order drill. There are many that believe drill should be completely removed from the Marine Corps. Though it no longer serves a purpose in combat it is the cornerstone that every Marine is built off of from the very first day at recruit training. If the Marine Corps removed closer order drills it would be a grave mistake. Close order drill has a rich history in the Marine Corps, while instilling discipline, and confidence in Marines. Closer order drill can be traced back all the way to the 4th century when the Spartan army was undergoing re-organization.1 Much has changed in closer order drill since then, but the basics are still the same.
The song, “The Workers’ Anvil,” written by Laura M. Griffing, is about workers who joined labor union to bargain for better pay, and working conditions. This is known as striking. The song is written in hope for change in better pay and have a safe work environment. Owners are enjoying their tremendous amount of profit that they earn at the expense of the workers.
The Battery drill, also known as the cordless drill, is an incredible tool regarding the convenience of use and portability. A lithium-ion battery usually powers the modern battery drill. They are lightweight and powerful tools making them perfect for areas with no power. Selecting the right cordless drill can be a daunting task considering the variety of brands available in the market today. Here is what you must know when choosing your ultimate cordless drill.
Imagine that it was the 1500s and you were in your garden trying to plant 100 seeds, but out of the 100 seeds you planted, only one actually grew into a plant/vegetable/fruit. This was how farming and agriculture was before machinery, such as the seed drill, invented in 1566. Farmers/workers would carry a bag full of seeds and would walk up and down the field randomly throwing seeds into the ground. Seeds were wasted in the process, so it wasn’t very useful, and also took up a lot of energy, even though it was much cheaper to do. In the 1500s, if you were bad at farming, you weren’t so lucky and would have probably starved/died. So, how did the seed drill help for those that struggled and also make farming easier? Jethro Tull improved the seed drill in 1782, a horse-drawn rotating cylinder that deposited seeds into the ground.
The creation of the Tueller Drill by Dennis Tueller has saved many lives and continues to do so. Tuellers teachings have led to some of the foremost tactics within the police force and military communities. The Tueller Drill is used to teach members of armed forces how to deal with threats as they maneuver the close quarters battlefield abroad. It also teaches police officers how to decide if lethal force is justified and how to prevent situations from escalating from a peaceful altercation to a deadly fight. The Tueller Drill is taught to upcoming police officers and can be more effectively taught to prevent both officer and subject injury.
Attention Getter: We all need our cars to get us from point a to point b but with the price of gas being so high, many people ride the bus or train to save themselves from shelling out money at the pump. Spending money is an emotional process for most working class citizens, especially if it’s something that we need daily but alas we don’t have a choice. We will always have places to be in life, but if only gas were less expensive, commuting wouldn’t be as taxing on our wallets.
John Henry had it all he could sing, whistle, and hammer. John Henry is a courageous person for he battled a steam drill and during fighting this steam drill he died from a broken heart. John Henry is a slave worker who went out to make money for his family. He is the protagonist of this story, also I think he would be a flat character because he only revolves around hammering things. John one day was sitting on his fathers knee and said "this hammer be the death of me". One day Johns family needed money and had only but a dime so John waited till sundown and went to the mine. Well captain went to John Henry and brought him a steam drill. John Henry starts and so does the steam drill, John says "ill die with this hammer in my hand" I think
And finally the third reason why we should drilDo like the idea of having high gas prices, no, neither do I, that’s why I believe we should begin to drill in the Arctic Refuge also known as ANWR(Arctic National Wildlife Reserve). ANWR was established in northern Alaska by congress during the 1980s. Around this time, America found itself in an energy crisis, the energy crisis began to put pressure on the refuge as lobbyist began to influence people on the idea that we should begin drilling in ANWR.
On Aug. 8, 2015, during a question and answer session at the 20TH annual Michael Jordan Flight School basketball camp, Michael Jordan was asked who he considered the biggest trash talker he ever faced. His answer, Larry Bird. In fact, Larry Bird, is listed among the top 10 NBA ‘trash talkers’ of all time. Larry Bird would love our Solea Laser because, we can use it to clean up his mouth, painlessly!
Drilling an ANWR is a short term solution that is being proposed as it requires little change to the current model of energy supply in this country. Opponents of drilling bring up many valid points. 1 percent of fuel consumption would be supplemented by this drilling activity. George Wills mentions in his essay that that entire United States holds 2.14 percent of the global reserves of crude oil, and I do not believe this to be a “Few drops of oil” as Sen. John Kerry is quoted as saying in the essay. That 2.14 percent may be needed in the future if plans of renewable energy fall short, and should be saved for such a time when they are absolutely necessary.
This week in our readings and we read about making and replacing obsolete gun parts in the FAT 100 course text, and touched on some tips and tricks for drilling and tapping in Gunsmith Kinks. Chapter six in the FAT 100 course text covered making and replacing obsolete gun parts. Chapter six in our course text covered a wide range of operations that are involved in manufacturing firearms parts. I will briefly go over my thoughts on this week’s readings in this short paper.
NASA’s Curiosity team made history by drilling into ancient rock beds on the planet Mars. This was the first time in human history that such a feat on another planet has ever happened. The Curiosity rover robotically manned by a team from earth chose a basin known as “Yellowknife Bay” to begin its first drilling. The goal for Curiosity will be to enter the basin, obtain a foreign sample of rock and analyze the rock sample. This sample will be chemically analyzed to identify what elements it was composed of and if any organic molecules are still present. This is critically important because the obtainment of this sample may shed light in regards to the existence of water on Mars.
A small home can either feel cramped or cozy. Unfortunately, if you are like most people you probably don't like the feeling of being crammed into a room. Luckily, you can trick your eye into believing your space is much larger by using the right floor tile. Incredibly easy and very effective, switching up your floor tile is a great way to revamp a small space.
My beast, also known as the shovelbug, lives in a desert ecosystem with cold nights and scorching hot days. Due to these weather changes, the invertebrate has adapted to the environment in a couple of ways, which will be explained later. Even though there is very little of it, the vegetation that is found there includes low-lying grasses/mosses and cacti. These patches of grass are scattered throughout the desert and there may be a variety of different species building their habitats in them. Aside from being a home to native species, the patches of grass may also be hiding predators waiting to strike. Lastly, is the soil in this environment which plays a big role in the shovelbug’s survival. This soil is very hard for most organisms to dig through, which is what makes this insect unique in
Ground round and ground chuck are two types of ground beef sourced from different parts of the cow. While it may seem that all types of ground beef should be interchangeable, there is actually considerable variation in flavors and textures. Knowing the difference between them can help to ensure that you get the right ground beef for the dish you want to make. Below we will look at ground round vs. ground chuck and ways to use them.
