Ethic is the hidden force of human behavior which is based upon one’s morals. Individuals of a specific group or profession have guidelines with were established to define acceptable behaviors known as the Code of Ethics. Various organizations within today’s society govern behaviors based upon the Code of Ethics to establish professional standards which increases the confidence of the professional, as well as the organization. With this being said, by incorporating the Code of Ethic in one’s daily practice demonstrates member of staff are committed to following the ethical guidelines to ensure the quality of care of their consumers (Bush, Connell, & Denney, 2006).

The correctional psychologist needs to (a) identify the problem - shackling pregnant inmates; (b) setting of the incident –transporting pregnant inmates; (c) ethical and legal resource – state law prohibited in 2009, as well as the above ethical violation; (d) belief values- one must access their belief, as well as to remain objective (e.g. stating the facts); (e) solution to the problem – not to cuff and shackle inmates; (f) consider consequence of the solution - pregnant inmates are at risk of miscarriage and lawsuit by family members; and (g) course of action – provide educational training on transporting pregnant inmates without restraints and (h) implementing change of need – disciplinary action for correctional officer who continue to use these measures (Doverspike, …show more content…

There are two options for this situation: (a) to overcome this situation during her sessions an interpreter could be present. However, this could cause hardship on the organization to due to having pay for continuous services from outside agencies. (b) The best options would be for myself, as well as the agency is to acquire Spanish as a second language. With this being said, this will assist me with building a better rapport with my client by letting her express herself
