Being the youngest sister among my two elder sisters has influenced my teenage years in so many ways. The stack of girl magazines, pile of beautiful clothes, and line of cosmetics were such a familiar scene of our room. As I grew up observing times they take to get ready before going out somewhere to times they get inside the wide range of clothing line shops and fitting various clothes and accessories, I unconsciously became so interested in beauty and fashion world. I started to read beauty and fashion magazines, look up the latest trends, and watch tons of inspiring beauty channel videos from famous bloggers on social networking sites. I even imagined myself having a great career in fashion industry that can inspire a lot of individuals …show more content…
It was not an easy journey because my sister had a lot of other things to do at that time, and in the end, she decided to close the business as she had to move to a different city. It made me down yet realize what I exactly want for my life. For once in my life, I really want to pursue what I am passionate about. I believe there should be no words of “too late” in learning and gaining new knowledge and skills, as well as setting and achieving a new goal in life. Thus, I believe that continuing my further study in Humber’s Fahion Management and Promotions postgraduate certificate program will be the right decision to help me pursuing my career goal in fashion industry. It has always been only a wishful thought for me considering the tough choice and load of financial budget required, yet coming across Humber College and its scholarship offer is a big hope for me to realize it. I am truly excited to fully develop my potential in Humber College by learning and applying not only the local but also global fashion management and promotions knowledge and skills, so that someday, instead of merely imagining myself, as an ordinary teenage girl, I will be really having a great career in the glamorous fashion
Parents spending the majority of their time with a sick child, often leave their other children to take care of themselves.Parents can tend to focus entirely on one child when the others are in need. In the book, My Sister’s Keeper, by Jodi Picoult, a family goes through something many people couldn't even imagine, their daughter being seriously sick. In the town of Upper Derby, Rhode Island in 2004, Brian and Sarah Fitzgerald, the parents in the book, have a sick daughter and learns that she only has a limited amount of time to live. While Sarah is pregnant she says, “Although I am nine months pregnant, although I have had plenty of time to dream, I have not really considered the specifics of this child. I have thought of this daughter only in terms of what she will be
A few things that have influenced myself as I am today are my family history and my environment. Growing up, my classes were always fairly easy to me, so naturally I always had a higher than average grade. But when things got harder I started to work harder to maintain my grades. I always felt so accomplished when my mother and father would brag about my grades and intelligence and I wanted to always feel that way. My brother never applied himself in school and I would see how disappointed they were in him and I knew that I only wanted to make them proud. By the time I got to high school I had figured out that no one in my family besides aunts or uncles that were married into the family had ever gone to college and from that point on it was my next big goal to achieve.
Wayne Dyer once said “doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life”. Ever since I was a little girl, fashion has always been a very important part of my life. However, while most young girls were busy designing Barbie’s next outfit, I was enthusiastically trying to figure out the best way to market and sell Barbie to my friends. This habit did not end during my childhood years; rather it followed me through high school. I firmly believe that being passionate about your career can add much happiness and depth to your life. By attending FIT I can bring and take away positive ideas and qualities.
Do you think it is ethical to design and conceive a child that meets specific genetic requirements?
F.I.T. has very distinguishing qualities that aren’t comparable to any other school, which made my decision to apply to F.I.T. so simple. It is a well-known fact that F.I.T. is the top school to attend for fashion, which is why I would be honored if accepted. To know that there is a school in the middle of one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world that offers the education and opportunity to learn and grow in the area of fashion of your choosing almost seems too good to be true. I am confident that attending the Fashion Institute of Technology will give me the first hand experience I need to lead me to my career goal in Fashion Business Management, and will allow me the best education that I can get while opening many doors for me in my
I had woken up extra early that morning to watch it all happen. To watch part of my life that had been ever so dominant disappear in a small gold 96’ Saturn. I watched it carefully, not thinking that these few moments would be our last, but that they would be the last that we were in some way equal.
My Sister's Keeper is the story of Anna Fitzgerald, who by the age of thirteen has undergone many blood transfusions, numerous surgeries, and multiple bone marrow transplants. “Most babies are accidents, not me. I was engineered, born to save my sister’s life.” At the beginning of the movie Anna explains that she as conceived to be a donor for her sister, Kate. Kate is a 16 year old with renal failure due to a very rare form of leukemia. The girls' parents expect Anna to donate her kidney to help her sister. Instead of donating the kidney, Anna files a lawsuit against her parents for the rights of her own body so that she could not be forced into the surgery against her will. This causes mixed reactions between Anna’s parents, Brain
Into 11th grade I pursued this path of taking fashion classes in the city, and took fashion marketing classes in. From all the hard work and determination In these classes through out high school, I was rewarded with high grades, which are hard to obtain in these courses. I also stood out because I was interviewed and placed upon the FIT website itself, under “who’s in precollege?” (When you apply for a course) which holds the information and pictures of a handful of unique and stylish individuals. All of my fashion experiences as a whole have built me into the hardworking, determined, independent individual I am now and I am very proud that was able to achieve these aspects in order to reach my goal of being apart of the fashion industry. I also feel that this has made me eligible and also worthy of becoming a member of the National Honor Society who’s character will be beneficial towards this
History is my academic passion -- specifically the archeological and genealogical bases of individuals and families. But setting aside bones, genetics, and all that fun evidence, I also love to study the more anecdotal past and present situation of a family: where they've lived, what they've done, and how they've done it. Studying my own family, i've found that neither of my parents, or my soon to be step-dad has obtained a degree, and with my older brother choosing the armed forces route, I'm left to navigate on my own and chart new territory for my family -- I will be the first to get a college degree. Hopefully my choice will influence my younger sibling to also pursue her goals. I believe by making this decision, to be the first to

There have been a vast number of lives that have touched mine. Many different people have shared a piece of their soul in my formation. However, it is my mother who is the most important and most influential person in my life. My mother raised me by herself since the day I was born. My father was abusive and she left to make a better life for the both of us. She has worked as many as four jobs at one time. My mother wants to make sure my brothers and I have a better life than she did. It hasn’t always been easy for her, taking care of us on her own, trying to pay bills and making sure we had everything we needed. My mom has always had us involved in sports at a very young age. We always were doing something or involved in something
Many people made no big deal of me, I have never been the one to stick out to people. My family has big expectations of me. My education is worth nothing to close family members I have never been so baffled at how people can be cold hearted towards their own blood. I was put on lower expectations than those of my younger cousin, because I was not born here did not mean I was not bright. Showing what I am capable of will show those I can be someone in life. For me a scholarship is more than just money it will show those near me what I can be capable of accomplishing. It will show others not from hear that they as any other person from here can accomplish a dream they have to provide for your family, to show others that nothing will stop you
Maribelle & Ainsley is a high-end designer boutique that offers bohemian chic junior clothing in New York City. The goal of our company is to embrace the pre-teen culture and set them apart from their little sister. When a girl enters her pre-teen stages, she is no longer interested in shopping in the girl’s section of the store, but looking for a more defined look. According to Tania Dworjan, teenagers spend more time on their appearance than any other target market, because they are pressured to fit in. (Dworjan) This girl is looking more towards her older sister or mother to see what she is wearing and starting to become more independent. We are aware of the critical phases that a pre-teen enters during her lifetime and wants to provide clothing that will make her
Getting into Istituto Marangoni will obviously help with my passion for fashion and styling. I know a fashion school helps you to try a range of styles. I want to learn new and advanced skills in fashion and creative styling. I know I will also be inspired because
There are many people that have the strongest impact in your lives. They are your role model and you want to be like them. These can be your family members, friends, or people that you just see on T.V. Whoever they might be they impacted your life because of want you learned from them. One person that had the strongest impact that made me who I am today is my mom. My mom had impacted my life and made me who I am today because she taught how to treat other how I want to be treated, don't judge other people because of their looks, and if you don't try you won't succeed. These are only the few lesson that I learned from my mom as a kid.
