For this semester, my main goal is to just study harder for all of my classes than I did for the previous semester. I may have maintained good grades in the previous semester, but I just want to push myself harder and dedicate myself into school than I did before. Since my major is Nursing, it is really important that I work the best of my ability to do well in school so I can make it to the nursing program here at CSU Stanislaus. Now that I have gotten a taste of what college is like and how harder it is going to be as my time here at this university progresses, I want to do everything in my power to study hard and make it all worthwhile in the end. When I think about college, I also think about money. My parents are spending so much money
College is a life changing adventure, and I want it to be the best experience I can possibly receive. Attending Medgar Evers College, I have set high hopes and expectations. I hope to interact with people of diverse ethnicity. I want to learn more about different cultures and the individualization of people. And so far getting to know people on campus has been one of my greatest experiences. I have met so many wonderfully different people here. I hope to develop more independence. To be more responsible for keeping up with my schoolwork, preparing for tests, and making most out of my classes, even when they start early. Being successful in college is about more than handing your work in on time and passing classes. It’s about staying motivated. I know for a fact there will be a lot of demanding of my time. I know that procrastinating is not the best way of approaching situations. It is my responsibility to try to regularly motivate myself, even if it’s pulling
This is the same with my sophomore year. Last year English and Latin were my hardest classes. While I had low C’s in English and Latin, I held a B+ average in all of my other classes. My freshman year I did not really understand how important it was for me to get the upmost best grades I could, so I could get into a good college. Now that I am a junior, I have a better understanding on really how important it is to keep good grades. Already this year I have started off on a better foot; holding an 87% average. The better grades that I get now, the better off I will be for getting into the college that I would like to attend. Some changes that I have already made are: I am starting to make myself study every single night, even though the test might not be in the next few days. Farther into the school year I could make the changes of getting help from my teachers if I start falling behind. Furthermore, the new program at CBHS, MAS, is a mandatory class that is taken 3 times a week to help with my grade in any
Going into college, I would like to peruse many of my goals. I would like to start out getting my general studies in and then build up to become a Registered Nurse. After I accomplish becoming a Registered Nurse I would like to work on becoming a Nurse Practitioner. One reason I am striving to complete these goals is to be able to have a good future and hopefully a good job will come out of this. Neither of my parents went to college and I want to be able to accomplish that for myself.
I’m writing for a request of a reconsideration of my final grade (EDU 600 Professor Dresser). The last couple of months have been extremely difficult on my personal life. On April 20th my husband passed away and the week before graduation my farther fell ill. He suffered with violent seizures; I slept in the hospital (in a chair next to his bed) the week prior to graduation, only to leave to attend the ceremony. Four months to the day of my husbands passing my father passed but not without complications (Two intubation, tracheostomy and peg feeding tube). As his health care proxy I was left to make extremely hard decisions for his life.
An A.P. or honors class is taught at a faster pace and similar to a course taken in college; in order to prepare for the class, colleges assign work over summer, just like an A.P. class. According to the author of the article, College Freshman Summer Reading, summer assignments “help build a sense of community with the incoming class of students. They also introduce incoming students to a campus' standards of academic engagement” (Lucier). There is a similarity between how the colleges and A.P. classes do their work, like how they assign work as an introduction of the class. This introduction allows the student to adapt to the class and get to know what it takes to be an A.P. or college student. It’s no easy A, there’s always a need to put
The of the new semester I did not know what to expect because building or constructing stuff was never my expertise. Towards the end of fall semester I did contribute to the the play layout more than ever by designing the Corny Collins sign that is currently used in the play Hairspray. I did not know because last semester I was never involved with the construction of anything and I did not know about this new semester. I started off the semester not good because Dr. Sannah caught me not doing work sometimes, but he did not know that I was already done with my work. He wanted students to be more involved in this year play than las semesters and I wanted to contribute more in this play than last semester.
I’m interested in Honors College because of the unique courses that it offers its students. Courses such as Making the Human and Gutenburg Galaxy differ from the typical classes offered at other universities. They don’t just focus on one subject but instead branch off to touch on various topics. In preference to long lectures and note-taking, classes provide students outside experience with oversea studies such as in Venice, Italy where the city itself is at their disposal to learn from. It is these courses and their accompanied opportunities that sparked my interest in Purdue’s Honors College. This persuaded me to research more in depth about the various activities and goals of the university. Honors’ courses require students to think broader and deeper than in a typical class where
I currently attend Tennessee State University as a freshman. I plan on majoring in Dental Hygiene. I am the first to graduate and attend college in my family so of course everybody has high expectations from me. My mom and dad sacrificed a lot for me to attend school and get a good education and they taught me that without education you really can’t do much with your life. I want to have a good career and a good degree so I can be successful in life. I want to make my parents happy and very proud of the young lady they have raised. My father’s dream has always been for me to major in Dental Hygiene because of how successful I can be. And my dream has always been to make my dad (my inspiration and my role model) happy. When I started off
I chose a liberal arts college because I felt as though a liberal arts college was the perfect fit for me based on the characteristics that distinguish them from large universities and for-profit colleges. I knew that I wanted a small school because I wanted the experience to be more personalized than what I would get at a large university. I wanted to have smaller classes and the ability to go to my professors outside of the classroom to seek help or understanding. That is a bit more difficult in large universities. I also wanted to have the ability to take classes that aren’t necessarily for my major. I believe that having the ability to venture out and educate yourself and take classes out of curiosity rather than requirement is what most
My main goals for my first semester at Western include intellectual, emotional, physical and social-civic goals. My main intellectual goal is to get good grades in all my classes so my GPA can be above a C+ average. This goal is very important to me because I am in the pre-nursing program and in order to even have a chance to move on my junior and senior year my GPA must be a C+ or above. I think the first step to making this happen would be attending all of my classes along with taking thorough notes and studying not only alone but in groups as well. Along with my intellectual goal, it is important I have an emotional goal as well. This goal is to keep making sure my stress level never goes too high. I think that it will be the easiest to meet this goal by setting aside time
I am Jessica Donnelly a sophomore at Wagner College. I grew up in Manalapan New Jersey with my family which included, my mother, father, older brother and younger sister. When looking at colleges to attend my senior year of high school, I had chosen Wagner as the next step in my educational career. This school was the right choice for me because of the excellent nursing program the school provided and the scholar ship money I was receiving for playing soccer. I had set many goals for myself freshman year that I had achieved. This year I have new goals that I hope to accomplish as well. One of the many goals I hope to carry out in sophomore year is to continue working hard and keeping my grade point average above a 3.5. With keeping an average of a 3.5 or above I will be able to get in to the Nursing Program that Wagner has to offer. When applying for the Nursing Program I must not only have an acceptable grade point average but I must be able to pass a nursing test. Another goal for this semester, other than my academic performance, is my performance on the soccer
I am really proud that I have improved in maths, socratic, comprehension strategies, running the track and cybersafety. The areas of maths that I’ve improved most in is data, division, percentages and problem solving. I’ve improved Socratic as I find it easier to come up with topics and I have been speaking more in Socratic discussions as in two sessions I've talked 5 times. Literacy Circles has helped me get better at some of the comprehension strategies such as summarising, connections and main idea, I have also improved on cause and effect. Running nearly every day has not only helped me to keep fit but improve my running skills as now I can run the track without stopping easily. Gmail and budd-e has helped me become more cyberwise on technology.
Spring break, a time to unwind, a marking of the end of the third quarter. So, in this essay I’m going to tell the reader all about mine. I’m kidding, I can’t say half the stuff I did. Why the reader wants to know what I did over spring break in a shitty essay is beyond me. So, I got a new bed, watched a lot of horror movies, and I spent the night down at the police department. There, that should be enough to fill a page.
The main point the authors are making is that their opinions on a well written, college level paper are very different. In college, arguments over a certain topic isn’t a dispute in your writing, but a systematic matter. Professors in college expect to see some kind of claim that’ll catch their attention and say “That sounds interesting, I would like to learn more about it”. Andrea as a high school teacher focuses more on the rubric criteria and did the writer meet all the things on the checklist at state standard level. College professors expect to see evidence for the claim with reasons and explanations. As for high school teachers, they are looking for weak points in the topic and strong points as well. For a college
After two full weeks of college I have quickly learned that college is very stressful and if I want to be successful I need to learn how to set practical goals and acquire necessary tactics to accomplish each goal in the given amount of time. I have set three goals for my first semester of college to achieve success in both academic and personal areas in my life. I want to receive a 4.0 GPA, only have up to one absence in each class, and be able to run seven miles nonstop, I will complete these three goals all in my first semester of college. With essential goal setting strategies I am equipped with I will be able to accomplish my three goals in the time frame given and set myself up for success for next semesters as a UNC student.
