Do not be a fool; the cost of education is drastically rising. The appeal and need for an expense-free secondary educational system is greater than ever. As a world with an incoming generation of the brightest young minds to touch the face of the earth, it is crucial that nations implement government paid college tuitions to enhance the future of education. Entering the year of 2017, the recent election in the United States has shed light on the need for free college in the home front. The nation faces a few imperative problems, mainly regarding economic inequality. Tuition subsidies, living grants, and public loans can accomplish the act of paying for college, but the struggle occurs when those very students try and pay back the massive loans taken out. The ability to pay for college and the ability to pay off the loans taken out to pay for college are two very dissimilar things. All people interpret the push for free college differently. Some take it to mean lowering the current tuition rate to zero. Others believe it means lowering other expenses, such as room and board, to zero as well. Any logical person knows that sustaining life is an expense in itself, and not the government’s job, so requesting a payment of housing and food from the government is borderline pushing it. Assistance of that magnitude sets up an unfair dynamic between those in a collegiate environment and those who opt out of secondary education. The argument does not stop at defining what the movement is about. The side against speaks out and addresses that a noticeable percentage of college students are not in need of financial aid, and that those in true need do not typically go through the process of applying and enrolling in universities.
