"I think the biggest thing that helped me was the support of my friends and family," Cyntrise says. "After leaving a very physically and mentally abusive relationship, I had no where to go, but back home. My parents took me back with open arms and supported me through those very rough years. "
It was during those years that her world had seemed to be turned upside down. All her and her children's needs were the responsibility of her husband, now that he was out of the picture, she had to take on the role of sole provider for her family. "The toughest part was the feeling of hopelessness, "She starts. "Everything I knew, all the the things I had hoped for were gone. I had a feeling of embarrassment being back home, as if I had failed. Now my children were looking to me. I knew that something needed to be done. My parents were always the example of working hard, and that is when I began to take stock of my talents. Don't get me wrong, its not like I changed overnight, I had to do what I needed to do. I worked at least two to three jobs at a time to pay the bills and eventually saved up enough to move out of my parent's house... again," she smiles.

"I worked hard to build up my customer base, and after awhile I was having customers request me on a regular basis. I believe in customer service, I think that you should give the customer more than they expect. And although I was improving my nail skills as well as my customer service relations, the business where I was working made it difficult," she continued. "The business started cutting my hours, bouncing my paychecks, and even failing to pay me on time. I started to fall behind on my rent, bills, and even my car died on me. It seemed like everything was falling apart all over
In this essay I will be talking about my dominant winning color, why it’s my dominant color and how it helps me. Also, I will be talking about my least dominant winning color and what I can do to improve it. Finally, I will be talking about the advantages of working with different winning colors.
After a long ride, we saw our new home for the first time. It wasn’t luxurious, but to a couple of young children like us it was cool to live on the beach. The changes that lied ahead of us were great. There are many ways in which this new start changed my life. First, no longer did we live in fear. This enabled me to move on. I enrolled in eight grade that year. I felt like had a fresh start. No one knew my business. I could make myself whatever I wanted. My whole personality changed. That year I started at quarterback for junior high and from there everything started to look up. If I was to go into details of all the success I had it would be bragging, so I am just going to say I went from a casualty of a broken home to a respected and important part of High Island High School. In the five years I was there, I had more fun and a more productive life than all the other years put together.
After their major life changes, both my mom and Buck weren’t used to the new ways of life. For example, during Buck’s times of being a sled dog, Buck struggled to fight off bigger dogs and get used to sleeping out in the wild. My mother on the other hand, found it very hard to fit in all of her studying into her daily schedule. For my mom and buck to get familiar with their new way of life, they had to adapt and learn ways to facilitate life. Another struggle Buck and Rebecca faced was that they had to look after and care for their loved ones. Along Buck’s journey, he met a great new owner named John Thornton. who held Buck back from joining the wild. My mom had to multi-task by caring for her young kid and doing school work which made it harder to do the things she wanted to do. My mother Rebecca and buck both found it hard to do the things they wanted because of the love for someone. Buck and My mom thought of their new situations as challenging for various
On her short home visit she was able to see the different between her formal life and her new life. She was struggling to pay rent because her jobs didn’t pay her enough. In previous life she was only concern about writing and she did have to worry about rent money or finding a job.
(Brackett 2005) Hoping to get away from the isolation her peers and father gave her. Unfortunately she was at a loss, seeing as most of her classmates came from white privileged backgrounds. Something she knew nothing about. Things were not all bad, this isolation gave her time to focus on schooling as well as find her own creative voice in her writings. (Brackett 2005) After six years of schooling she finally graduated in 1978 with a master’s degree in fine arts and creative writing. (Brackett 2005) Managing to make her mother proud as well as herself she has a newfound confidence and is ready to focus on her new
She work about three years there and then that store closed. She didn’t know what she was going to do, but thankfully there was a manager spot open in a small town called Sebring so in the middle of her daughters Vivian and Samantha’s school she moved them out to Sebring. They moved into a really small house, but it was perfect for their little family. However it was also very difficult. She had to make a huge decision to choose whether or not to keep her daughter Vivian back a year or move her on and cause her learning troubles in her future. She decided to keep her back a year and let her stay on pace and not cause her daughter in trouble in her future. Thankfully that was the right decision because her daughter was thriving in school. However she had to deal with her other daughter Samantha dropping out of high school, she
“My parents were very calm about it around me and my siblings, we just thought that that is how life was.” Her parents owned a potato farm so they had no issue trading them for clothes, shoes, and other goods. “We lived on one pair of shoes a year, which was ok because that’s all we needed. I never really thought it was a hard time until it was over, and we were so thankful for everything afterwards. It felt like we were livin large afterwards but we were just average.” She said she was a kid at the time
The dance hall and the bank were closed and the buildings were deteriorating. Kaylie’s mom was a single parent and was doing everything possible to make ends meet. They were moving in and out of run down motels and the kids were not attending school. This corresponds with the fact that “nearly half of kids with a single mom live in poverty” (Neumann, 2012). The mother of the Hegwood family was working but all of the money was being spent to pay bills and nothing else.
She speaks about the death of her father and how it helped her to finally leave.
Everything seemed new to her. She began to paint for a living. Most women of her time did not work, but relied on their husbands for support. She rarely missed her children and only visited them once the entire summer. Edna felt alone.
My mom was a single parent, that needed more support than she was receiving. My mother worked a full time job and she did not have much time to attend to my siblings and I. She left me in charge, a majority of the time, to take care of my younger sister. I had to do more chores than before. At times, I felt like I had more weight on my shoulders than I could handle. I never wanted to let my mom down. I always did exactly what she told me to do. My goal was to keep a smile on my mother’s face, if she said, Jump!” I said, “How high?” When Savannah left home, a lot of things changed. Not only did they change for the worse, but for the better.
When first reading about Lowry’s True Colors system, I immediately assumed that the results of this quiz would have little to no effect on my understanding of not only my personality type and behavioral style, but others as well. After completing this quiz, I can honestly say that my initial assumption was utterly wrong. Admittedly, my opinion was altered when I received a high score of 19 in the blue color spectrum category, and was able to affiliate almost all of the general descriptions of the color blue with myself. Even though I was able to connect with most of the blue color descriptions, there happened to be a few that practically popped off the scream and screamed my name. These attributes include my specialty of valuing close relationships, staying true to myself, and getting involved in causes.
Eline sat on the side of the street, watching the people walking by, living their comfortable middle-class lives just like they did every other day. It only served to make her more morose, as she reminisced on her life naught but a year ago. It was amazing how easy it was to complain, instead of enjoying what you had; how easy it was to forget how fragile your situation really is. Eline had already been living on the edge of financial stability as a lone parent of two kids, and being fired was just the beginning of a sharp descent in societal position. Now she was a mere beggar, trying to scrape by and keep her and her children alive. At least she still had her little ones, otherwise Eline didn’t know if she would have been able to carry on.
My entire life changed and was falling apart around me. In the two years since mother had died, father had turned into a gambling womanizer. He spent the majority of his time looking for any woman with a dowry large enough for us to stay at Ashlake Manor. Our home was in ruins, and ultimately all of our servants had been released from their service.
She begins to favor the sunnier memories of her old family life, when her mother was alive and her brother was living at home. She thought back of the moment she promised her mom that she will put all her dedication in maintaining this home. And she reasons that her life at home and doing all of those chores are hard, but perhaps not in the worst position — her father isn’t always mean, after all.
