The 20’s was a time that Americans enjoyed spending that extra time doing many activities. One of American’s favorites was watching baseball games, to be more specific the world’s greatest baseball player at the time, Babe Ruth. Since the war ended it allowed people to let their minds wander and to let their creative sides come out and invent things. Among these new inventers, Henry Ford’s invention had to have been one of the most influential in the 1920’s. Along with the inventors and professional baseball players, many other people in the 1920’s had great aspirations and goals. One of these people went by the name of Charles Lindbergh. Although these three men are diverse in race, personality, interests, and careers, they all share one major thing in common. They all represented some part of the American ideal. John Smith saw economic growth possibilities in the fertile New England area that had a vast amount of natural resources, he also valued different commodities than Columbus.

Christopher Columbus’s life was filled with adventures and new beginnings that would leave a remarkable impression throughout history. Born in 1451 in Genoa, Columbus from an early age would become well acclimated to sailing as he began his career aboard a merchant ship and later study mathematics, astronomy, cartography, and navigation. Growing up and experiencing new thing Columbus began to come up with a plan different from all others to set sail across the Atlantic instead of going around the African continent. With his ideas being turned away from both Portugal and England it was Ferdinand and Isabella who took sympathy upon him and financial back his voyage as they both had hopes of gaining fame and fortune. In 1942, Columbus began his voyages and would carefully document each experience in the form of letters that would have a lasting impact on the world. I believe with the dramatic change in tones we see between the first and fourth letters it gives us the reader a true insight into Columbus’s mental and physical emotions over the years. Furthermore, these letters allow us to explore a part of history that is considered monumental while gaining information of what took place over a ten-year journey.
Christopher Columbus (Italian: Cristoforo Colombo) is considered, by popular belief in the United States of America, to be the “Father of the Americas”. Columbus was not the first European to reach mainland in the Western Hemisphere, but his efforts did lay the path to settlement of the “New World”. Like Christopher Columbus, Neil Armstrong was a pioneer in his own right; he is the “Father of Space”. Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong were obviously two very different people based on the times in which each of the men lived; what was not different, were the characteristics and qualities that both men shared.
