I'm attending El Paso Community College to start off my education. My ambition is to be the first one in my family to be a college graduate. Gain a level of independence, there is still much for me to learn not only in school but in the real world as well. Community College will allow me to complete a degree in a giving environment well also beneficially not costing too much. Thanks to Advanced Placement and Dual credit courses, I have completed some of the requirements needed for my degree. Therefore, I wish to transfer to a bigger university so that I may have an opportunity in my majoring field. I'm not a native El Pasoen however it has become another place I call home. Although I wish to experience more of a diversity in other cities.
If your students are English learners, learn a few key phrases in their native languages to model that it is acceptable to struggle with pronunciation and language learning.

Currently, I’m teaching a group of high intermediate Academic English students from China and Saudi Arabia. They are all on a path to enter an American university and complete their bachelor's or master's degree in a variety of majors. My class size is 14 students and I teach them in the classroom 6 hours per week.
-Students are working with others that are below grade level. They will have the opportunity to help teach them. This will build their understanding as well.
22 students speak English as their first language and one student who is an English as a Second Language (EAL) who is from China.
I have been extremely fortunate to avoid many hardships. However I have faced a financially barrier, especially as I have set the goal to finance college without loans. My family is not poor, but we do not have enough money to put two women through university. I have taken the initiative to surpass this barrier by working and applying for scholarships. I started by attending community college first as it is less expensive. I quickly realized that the lower tuition was not enough and took a job at a grocery store deli. Most of my income has been placed into my savings. I have saved up a decent sum of money, but will still need help to pay for college. Now I am applying for as many scholarships as humanly possible. I have received scholarships
Once the information is gathered and assess the teacher can then make educational decisions on how to better take the students needs without making the student feel isolated from other who may not be on the same level as
One question that I am often asked after introducing myself is “but why are you here though?” For many people that I’ve talked to, the thought of a Wisconsinite moving to Michigan for community college seems a little out of place. For most people, community college is something that is done before moving to another state for college, not after. However, this was not the route I was destined to take, and it payed of to be one of the best ones of my academic career, even if it does come of as a little strange.
I enjoyed your point of view! I do not think it is about the institutional differences or the differences in the students who attend the institutions but it is a needs based decision. To me both are going to be accredited institutions who are responsible for educating the student the same, so why can a student not go to community college if it is more convenient and it fits their needs? Maybe their needs are not as involved and they can attend a four year university so that works for them as
Because community colleges are serving a wide variety of population with different needs, they have to make sure that each needs are fulfill and most important the mission is being carried out. “The students who attend to upgrade their skills for a particular job, students who are pursuing an associate degree to transfer to a 4-year institution, and students who attend to pursue a hobby (such as learning a language); the educational outcomes of community college students reflect this diversity” Students at Community Colleges. (n.d.). The purpose of the article was to inform the public about African American and Latina/o students who attend community colleges and the success and knowledge that they gain reflects on how well the overall experience at the community college have prepared them for the real world and their future.
11.How can we balance the right for free speech with the right to not be insulted or abused?
The three presentations in my section were focused on informing us on alcohol and drugs. The first presentation that I went to was a word association exercise, where the TA would name a drug and our teams would have to make a list of words we associate with that drug. For example, one of the words was marijuana so me and my team wrote down different words that we thought of when we heard marijuana (drug, smoke, highschool, teenagers, high, etc). The next station was two truths and one lie. Here, we had to guess which fact about different drugs and on campus regulations were true and which were false. The last activity was a fill in the blank song activity. This
